  1. Going into player overview > happiness and lower their playing time expectations.  There is a limit on how low they will accept and if they have recently signed a contract with a specific playing time, or just have enough status they won't let you lower them below maybe regular starter.  Important player and especially Star Player are so tough to hit if you are playing in multiple competitions.

Having a guy who is playing at least one game a week complaining about playing time is annoying, especially when they can't get back to 100% health.  Sorry I rested you against the worst team in the league so you could play in the Champions League, what a bad manager I am.

  2. I don't think this is a problem in game, but you do have to rotate a lot, especially when you are playing in multiple competitions and basically playing two games every week for the whole season.

Only frustration is that players for other teams seem to have unlimited fitness, you can pretty much count on facing your opponents full A squad 95% of the time, even when they are also playing multiple games per week.

  3. I am about to upgrade to FM23 and would really like to do a long term save with Sporting KC in MLS.  I tried to do that in FM21, but the league salary cap and salary rules didn't really work in game.

Has anyone played MLS on FM23, how is it, has SI finally made the league work well in game?

Had just finished season 10 with my Ceuta team that I brought up from the 4th division. Won first ever Europa League and Copa Del Rey titles. Finished 2nd on 90 points, got a first ever Champions League qualification. All to see that my salary cap barely changed and it dawned on me that I would probably have to abandon the save as I don’t plan on buying the in-game editor. First ever long term FM save as well, this year was my first year buying the game. Gutted.

I decided to resign and turn my save into a journeyman save, I moved to a mid table Serie A team and my budget is $40MM more than it was in La Liga.  Frustrating to basically start over building up a club, but not as much as starting over completely.

  5. Just wanted to say what a huge disappointment this issue is.  I started a save with Girona in the 2nd division, won promotion, built a squad of young guys who are turning into stars,  improved facilities, built a new stadium, qualified for Champions League three seasons in a row, and have no hope of ever making this a really great team because the salary cap is stuck just over $50MM while half of the table have $90MM or more to spend.

Major failure on the part of SI.

I'm having the same issue in portugal. The only way around it for me is scheduling friendlies every month (which leads onto another annoying issue...the B's manager is set to do this automatically but doesn't)

Your B team is probably playing games, my players assigned to play for the B team are playing games even when I'm not scheduling them, just at a level so low that they aren't visible unless you click into the player's stats and can see that they have been playing games.

My B team is Spanish Federation Level 3, would really like to get them up to Level 1 or even the Second Division so the competition would be more appropriate for developing players, but no idea how to do that or where we even stand at Level 3 since I can't view that level of competition.

  7. I recently started a save in Spain and have a B team that plays at such a low level that they don't show scheduled matches.  Almost impossible to hire staff for the team since they have a poor reputation and I have virtually no wage budget for B team coaches.  I've got the best coaching in the league for my first team and close to the top for U19 as well as great training facilities, but my B team is a big hole in my development pipeline.

I'm really not sure how to manage this vs my U19 team, or. vs sending promising players out on loan. Seems like B matches would be better for development than U19, but playing at such a low level and with a low quality coaching staff doesn't seem great.

Is it possible to get your B team promoted to make it into a legitimate option for developing players just below first team level, any tips on how to manage the B team?

  8. I'm trying to get a MLS save started, definitely some small issues I can't figure out, so I'm not a mentor for you, but following along and trying to learn as well.

Right now I'm trying to register my squad and have several players who show up as "Out" but I cannot figure out why?  Mostly younger guys, but on full time contracts with my club?

Second, anyone know how to use TAM funds?

I play MLS all the time.  I think the key for most people who have problems is learning how to deal with the salary cap.  Learning how and when to use things like GAM are important and it is also important to know that MLS is a development league and currently can not support a roster of expensive players.  Even MLS veterans need to be moved on as their salary demands increase.  In real life teams are learning that they must develop youth players and then sell them on.  For example, Philadelphia just sold a player to Red Bull Salzburg and one to Genk, and Juventus is currently offering $9.2 million to Dallas for a right back that has only played first team for about a year.  These kids all played for their MLS teams for a lot less than imported stars make.

Can you use the club's TAM as well, I can't seem to figure out how to use that resource?

I’m new to the game and I started a save with the Columbus Crew in MLS. The squad was already above the salary cap, but I was able to buy down the cap impact of most of my starters. I also waived six or so players before the season started. Now, when I try to sign someone, the game tells me that I’m above the salary cap with 0 players in (the screenshot shows one player, but even with 0 players in it’s like $5.5m or something). Is there something I’m missing? If I was able to get below the salary cap to start the season, how am I above the salary cap now?

Same issue for me, very frustrating, kind of takes the fun out of the game when your home league seems impossible to play.
