  1. When assigning a scout, you have the option to assign them to scout a youth level league (U18 in this case for me), but I continuously get 0 results from scouts when I assign them to do this. How do I get them to actually scout those leagues and consistently return results other than manually assigning them to scout youth players?

I'm guessing it has to do with the fact that youth team appearances only result in the player participating in a "friendly" rather than league appearance, or at least it labels those youth league matches as "non-competitive" in the player's stat profile.

This glitch is annoying af, and I've had it happen on FM 2020 and FM 2021 before as well.

  2. Does anyone know how staff members increase their own attributes? Do they get better over time, or do you have to have them train in categories that they are weak in to get better?

This is unrelated to hiring new staff. I'm curious about having current staff members/club legends improve their coaching attributes over time on my coaching staff.

  3. Also, relating to Player Value/Transfers, I think it would be beneficial if they more accurately represented reality.

For instance, in my AC Milan save, just because Diogo Dalot makes 30 appearances, it shouldn't mean that Manchester United won't budge for any permanent transfers for less than $50 million, especially when he has a market value of only $20 million despite all these appearances.

I think quality appearances should make a difference (difference between starting and coming on in 80th minute).

    Thanks!

  4. I agree with @Arla2002on this. I think this would be most beneficial for a league like the MLS (because of the MLS league rules and limitations on foreign players).

    ANOTHER SUGGESTION:

I think it would also be beneficial to add a search filter that allows you to filter a player/staff member's prior clubs and find players/staff members that were employed by the club you are running.

I think that this suggestion would be tremendously helpful, because I try to approach the game with a realistic approach and would like to hire former AC Milan players/staff members to my teams. In addition, I also think that this improvement would help me and other players find new coaches/staff members to hire for the youth teams to give them the experience they need before becoming the head coach of a club's first team. And, in reality, this seems to be how it works in real life, with players starting their coaching careers with their favored clubs.

Thanks for taking the time to read!

  5. Hello,

I just wanted to add my 2 cents and say that I think there should be an upgrade to the scouting methods used in the game. Specifically, I think that the option to scout specific leagues needs to be improved.

For instance, I would like to scout the next up-and-coming players in Italy on my AC Milan save and I would like to assign one of my scouts to Serie B/C and another to scout the U20/U18 leagues. Unfortunately, no matter the scouting parameters (I can be specific and say to look for certain players or leave everything blank and tell the scout to search for everything in these leagues) I use, my scouts never come back with any results.

In addition, since the U20/U18 league games are categorized in player stats as "non-competitive games," it makes it nearly impossible for my scouts to find anything.

I think enhancing this aspect of the game would help a lot.

    Thanks!

  6. Hello,

I wasn't sure how to describe this, so hopefully this makes sense to you. I will try my best.

I was hoping that the screen that shows up when you offer a player to clubs, whether it be for a transfer or loan, be upgraded from a static, one-nation selection at a time to perhaps a screen that allows multiple selections at one time.

Hopefully that makes sense, but I'll go a bit further in case you are lost.

In the image I have attached, I am only able to offer Kalulu to one nation at a time. If I wanted to see fully which teams would make an offer for him, I would have to select "Italy," go back to the nation editor, select "France," and so on.

What I'm proposing is making a function that allows you to essentially check boxes next to each nation to speed up that process a bit.

I figured it could save me, and perhaps other players, time while playing and simplify the process a bit because it can be quite time-consuming when you're trying to loan out about 10+ different youngsters to get more playing time (assuming the player is controlling a decent-sized European club), but also speed things up for if you are managing a smaller club, in the MLS for example, and have a player who may be potentially good enough to play in the lower European divisions, so you try offering him to the smaller nations of Austria, Portugal, Netherlands, Belgium, Scotland, Italy, Germany, etc.

This isn't a huge problem for me, by no means a make or break suggestion when it comes to my gameplay, but it was just an idea I had to make the game run a bit more efficiently.

    Thanks!

With the rise of City Football Group, Red Bull and other similar groups of football clubs, I believe the affiliated club system in FM needs updating.

There should be a type of affiliation specific to football groups. This would allow for more fluidity between clubs in terms of finances for starters. You should also be allowed to hire staff members for your feeder clubs, which reflects the movement of coaches and staff between football groups. You should also have more access to scouts, sports scientists and analysts within your football group, thus widening your scouting knowledge and improving your ability to deal with injuries for example. Additionally, much like your reserves and youth teams in FM already, you should be able to influence the tactics, playing style and transfer policy of the feeder clubs within your group to benefit the one you're managing.

Current football groups should exist in the game at the start and on rare occasions during the game certain consortiums who take over a club could do so with the intention of making your club part of a group.

Lastly, this type of agreement should be reflected in the contracts you can give players when signing them. For example, if you're Man City or RB Leipzig signing an ageing star you should be able to sign them on a one or two-year deal with a club option to either to extend your contract there or send you to their MLS feeder. Alternatively, you could sign a young player for RB Bragantino or Montevideo City Torque with the promise of 'moving' them to RB Leipzig or Man City in a few years time. To further help reflect this and movements between clubs within the same group, signing a player from a club in the same group should affect your budget in a different way.

Not only that, but clubs in MLS should be given more options to establish relations with national and international clubs as the league as a whole looks to grow the game and sport. In addition, I would like the ability to add regional teams as affiliates almost automatically. For example, I will start a save as manager of Minnesota United and don't have a regular "B-Team" and limited relations with Forward Madison and the MNUFC Academy, so it would be nice to establish some time of feeder partnership similar to my Academy with Shattuck-St. Mary's (specifically for youth players because Minnesota United and Shattuck are located 45 minutes away in real life), Green Bay, Milwaukee teams, Des Moines Menace, Valour FC, and any teams located close to the state of Minnesota in the Midwest or Manitoba.

Maybe it would be worth adding an ability to create a B-Team when there currently isn't one established.

Furthermore, for the game as a whole, there should be some sort of actions available to establish an affiliation with a team from a real-life sister city. For example, the City of Los Angeles and Berlin have a government-agreed proclamation declaring them as sister cities, so clubs located in these cities and greater metropolitan areas should be allowed to have a quicker option to establish this connection, as well as a higher success rate of creating excellent relations.

Lastly, I think the real-life demographics of cities, states, and regions should be reflected in the game when it comes to affiliate clubs. For example, Minnesota United should be allowed to establish better and more affiliate clubs in Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Germany because of the prominence of those cultures in the area in real life.

Also, it would be nice for German clubs to establish relations with local clubs in Argentina, for example, in addition to being able to control a lower level team (but that's a different discussion board). I have wanted to establish an affiliation between a German club and one of the teams in Bariloche due to the city's history revolving around Germans emigrating to the area after WWII.

  8. Furthermore, I think more consideration needs to be taken when consider the finances involved with and the board reactions to MLS transfers. In reality, most MLS transfers are conducted below the $1 million threshold, but this is not quite reflected in FM 2021 for PC. To be specific, I can start a career with Minnesota United and transfer list Kevin Molino, a 30-year-old attacking midfielder who plays best in the center or on the left wing, for an initial asking price of $2.5 million based on his active status in the Trinidad and Tobago squad, being a leading player for my club in recent seasons, and his MLS experience (including the fact that he is already fluent in the English language. Most of the offers I will receive will reach a maximum non-negotiable offer of $1.3 million, even though his value is $1.8 million.

In a different scenario, I have tried to sell older players as manager of Minnesota United, specifically players like Ozzie Alonso and Aaron Schoenfold, who are both described as "players past their prime" and their attributes quickly deteriorate. In the case of Alonso, he is valued at $250,000. I will set an asking price of $500,000-$750,000 due to his experience, leadership skills, etc. The only offers I can get are non-negotiable offers from Mexico worth, at most, $200,000, despite all of his qualities and being a potentially leading player for his new clubs and league.

Even if I sell a player like Molino or Olonzo for around $500,000 above their market value, I am sick of seeing how the board is "very upset" or "very disappointed with the finances involved in selling" either these players, especially when you consider the fact that their salaries are both significantly over $500,000. I don't think that this is accurate for MLS sides because $500,000 is enough for a quality role player to a potential starter in reality. Furthermore, it appears that any type of loan addition for a quality role player or starter from another country results in negative feedback from the board, even when the only way to secure the player is by paying 100% of their salary. I think this needs to be adjusted as well because most MLS teams don't have those quality players from South America that have incredible potential or attributes. I would think that any addition of a quality player would result in positive feedback, so long as you don't spend a ridiculous amount in wages.

Now, that's my concern on selling players. But I also have concerns on acquiring players.

For instance, if I, as Minnesota United, make an offer for Callum Montgomery, who they acquired in reality via trade by giving up a draft pick, I have to offer a minimum $700,000, which is a lot of money for most MLS sides. This comes on top the player being valued at $250,000-$400,000, playing nearly at his full potential, and having a maximum potential of 2.5-3 stars.

I think the transfer settings need to be adjusted for the MLS and similar leagues.
