It sounds like you have very limited experience with this game, so forgive me for being blunt; most of the things you've said just aren't true.

When you extrapolate over 10 years, even 10 mill a year will seem significant. But it really isn't. Anyone with experience that play this game for 10+ seasons will not run into money problems, because the game makes it so easy to generate. You mentioned selling a player for £200 mill. That's basically five seasons of the difference in income between a 30k and a 60k stadium. And that's from a single player.

Can you run into trouble spending all your transfer budget and giving everyone £500k per week? Of course you can. But a player that knows what he is doing can spend £10 mill p/w on wages without any worries.

Ticket sales in the save game I mentioned were £80 million out of £1.2b total income. That's 6.6%. A bigger stadium used to be something that changed your life as a club, but it really doesn't anymore, especially not for clubs already in the EPL and/or CL. The top clubs will rack up £200-300 million in TV money/prize money. Even as average EPL club will be at £120 mill. Why would you think an extra £30 mill from a bigger stadium is going to change your life and let you pay much higher wages?

Make the investment into wages, improve your club, improve your income, keep spending. Hoarding money has been a useless strategy for years.

Well I will take that personally because what I said were mostly facts so you either called me a liar or stupid. I don't know how much experience you have but I have enough to see that I understand these finances a bit better than you.

As we established, over 10 years period, yes that money can be and is significant and that is my whole point. As I explained it, on average for past 10 years I've been earning 100M/Y.
So that is with being very successful while keeping the wages low and constantly selling players. With inflated wages, that would be significantly lower.
Yes you are right, making such a huge sale does cover years worth that of bigger stadium. The key thing is, that I don't want to have to rely on selling players to keep nice bank balance.
1 reason being obvious that I want to keep my best players and the other reason being that the taxes are huge on profit. Last season I paid 80M just for taxes, so selling expensive players isn't that good.
Also with success comes huge performance based bonuses which are also really high. I am good enough at maths that I can understand what I can and can't afford to do.
If your experience has been having such huge total income, maybe then you can go more loosely and not worry too much about money. I think my total income with Liverpool never went above like 350M or something, that's with winning everything every season.

Anyway, original point wasn't even about that, it was about that dumb feature. The way I am gonna solve that is probably buy **** ton of cheap wonderkids that won't demand huge wages so they will be my actual reserve fund. Instead of the game deleting my money I'll actually invest it and get it back when if I need it

Sold out 60k stadium, full EPL season + 8 cup/CL home games: £53.4m gate recipes + £26m season tickets. It's not nothing, but compared to the numbers you are throwing around, it's really not a big factor. EPL TV money is £100m+.

But yes, that money is lost and it's generally super pointless to try to hoard cash in this game. The best advice is don't worry about spending too much on wages, as long as you are successful you can afford it, and if you aren't you'll get fired anyway so who cares.

The numbers I am throwing around is money that I accumulated for 20 years without spending barely anything. So I joined the premier league with 500M, that means I earned 1B over 10 years. That means 100M a year average. I sell a player or 2 every season that gets me around 100M. So basically I am extremely successful and on extremely low wages and still not making money outside sales. If I paid anything near my players demands I'd be losing money rapidly which would mean that I would sit on pretty low budget now. So like 50M a season from tickets would be 500M over 10 years, in this long save I am paying attention to details and I know what I am doing, unfortunately the game screwed me over again.

You do need to worry about spending too much on wages especially in longer save. I played a save with Liverpool where I was winning everything for like 5-6 seasons and I started losing a lot of money annually because I inflated wages from buying Mbappe and Haaland. Winning everything and selling a couple of players still wasn't enough to cover the expenses. Even with huge commercial income, a lot of super stars in the team

  3. First I'll put everything into perspective and explain why this is a big deal to me.

I am managing English Tier 11 team, after I got promoted to Premier League my board decided to build a 20000 capacity stadium(now maxed out at 30k) for 45M Euros even tho I had 500M in the bank. During construction we played on 40K stadium and we were already filling it for every game so that already pissed me off.

This put me in incredibly difficult position where I had to balance between high board demands while keeping low wages, meaning I had to keep selling all my best players due to high wage demands. Now I could have just increased the wages and messed up the wage structure and it would be fine in short therm but it would eventually catch up with me because of the pathetic stadium that they built, and I would end up with constantly low money balance, which would mean that the board would never allow for new stadium to be built due to uncertain financial situation.

So the plan was to just keep the wages low and keep selling the players so that when 20 years finally passes that there would be enough money for board to build a proper stadium.

8 years into the future after the 20k stadium was built and I am sitting on 1.5B Euros in the bank and the board does this8bb1e5f50799731ea47a49dc3273f862.png.a6243048666e9b5a48206e2f2d3391eb.png

So I move on thinking that's surely not going to happen again in near future. Then I sell my best player for 250M aaaand

So here we are filling a ****** stadium for 8 years for every single game and the board won't decide to build a new one but they will just take 800M out of the club...

Now the question is, does anybody actually know for a fact what reserve investment fund is? From what I read there are differing opinions on this but nothing coming official from the developers. It's clear that the game has a limit on the money you can have and will do this after you reach it, but the question is whether the board will actually use that money in a situation where it's needed, like building a new stadium? Or is it the more likely scenario that the money is just deleted from the game, considering that in expenditure page is stands as: Dividends- Amount of dividends paid out to the owners by the club.

I think the whole dealing with the board thing is done really poorly in FM but this is just ridiculous

  4. Really wanted to share this with someone but don't feel like it's new topic worthy so I'll just drop it here.
Not even sure if it's a bug or what. This player had 17.25M Minimum fee release clause... Removed everything they offered, accidentally left Per League Appearance clause, set fee to 17M, added 50% percentage of next sale and suggested it. They accepted right away. Someone at Reading deserves to be sacked

  5. As Aurio said, people need to stop comparing FM to real life in sense what's realistic and what's not. The whole charm about FM is the unrealistic part of it where you are given the opportunity to create some "impossible" narratives. The idea was to get the team to win Premier League and Champions league. I didn't think I could get anywhere near it but I wanted to try, however anything else is a failure.

I managed to overcome the crisis with significantly increasing the wages and just selling everyone whose wage demands are just too big, as I don't want to mess the whole structure where everyone will then ask for even higher pay.

I made a sale of 30M (Player signed on a free, youngster released from the club), and many other sales of couple of millions, which of a Championship side is nothing, but for me current overall balance of 40M is crazy money. At the time of the post I had 5M and very scared since without player sales I only lose money monthly and can't gain anything.

So now the club is in great situation, I singed 2 youngsters for 1M both, which I think I will get at least 20M later. However, on a greater scale, it's going to be really difficult to build something because of stadium capacity limitations. So plan would be to stand still and just do business with players and hope to make the bank big enough to be able to build some big stadium. It's gonna be extremely difficult  and I can't see how it can happen

  6. My save is on 2020, I bought 2021 last week but still didn't start a single save, I am invested in current one. I know boards do suck, mine especially. They are allowing me 6M transfer budget and 50K p/w, and I have 5m total in the bank and losing money monthly... Which if I all used I'd go into debt and board would then blame me and reduce wage budget to 5k p/w because "current financial situation", and then they'd hate on me for not working within a budget which is a club vision.. I learned that from experience long time ago so now I figure what I can afford to pay on my own. I'll try to not go above 3M a year for wages as I think I'd manage to move some players for that money. I am currently on 980K.

  7. @AurioDKThanks a lot for elaborate post. Most of the things said I am aware of and already doing and I guess that's weird because the answer was right in front of me... To survive in Vannarama National where I was burning trough club's money really quickly, I'd sell like 1 player for 500k and that would have me financially secured for another year... So the key point you mentioned and I think I'd have to work around is to take gamble with the wages. Those good youngsters that used to join me for 300P/W and now want 1500P/W, to give them those wages and hoping that selling some of them for decent money would keep the club running... It's exactly what I used to do it seems it's just all now on larger scale.. Yes higher wages, but also higher income and higher transfer fees for my players. I should probably give contracts to some of the less demanding ones to have some security and hope I can sell some for good money... I am managing for 12 years and didn't spend a single $ on transfer fees, and I don't get attached to them, in fact I purposely look to sell my best players to raise some funds, then I invest everything into Stadium and facilities, when it's financially safe because board is useless in managing finances. When I started we were playing on an 800 capacity stadium that we shared with like 5 other teams and their u23 and u18...

Anyway, what I am looking at is increase the wages significantly but not too crazy, pay who I can keep and hope that I can stabilise, it's gonna be difficult with 6500 capacity stadium, but let's see what happens. Just hope I don't mess someone's wages up and end up inflating them even more, like when I ****ed up and signed Mbappe for Liverpool just because I could easily afford him. Ended up inflating everyone else's wages and ruined me. It's gonna be difficult to balance it all out but there's hope

Your question was "how to deal with this" and people are responding "just make your players play for the wages they're already getting".

A team full of League 1 quality players can - if managed well, with a suitable tactic - do reasonably well in the Championship. You've been promoted, what, 8 times so far? I assume you've got some idea of how to put a tactic together.

If you can stay ahead of expectations, the players you have will be less annoyed with you. You might still struggle to sign 'Championship-level players' (i.e. overpaid wasters), but you could probably find a few hungry youngsters to do a job until your team's reputation catches up to where the team is and you make a bit of money.

I achieve nothing by doing reasonably in Championship, which I somehow am btw. I can't replace them with youngsters because they also want wages that I can't afford to pay. I am using current players on old wages but I'll run out of them very quickly. With low reputation and stadium with 5250 capacity( expanstion to 6500 will start at the end of the season and take a while) it is gonna take a decade before I reach financial strength to be able to afford to pay what players want in championship.
Loaning players would work short term but would still end up with same problem. I guess I am looking for a magic wand, to me it does look like impossible situation to sort

  9. It's literally not what I am asking, It's baffling that you are actually telling me what my question is. My question is how to get out of that situation and what you are saying is no solution at all. 5-6 important players have their contracts expiring at the end of the season, others will follow in next 1 or 2 years. I have no u23 and u18 because I can't really afford to pay the wages for them, especially not for the ones that would be of any use. It's literally matter of losing all the players because I can't afford their wages and not being able to sign anyone because of high wages demands. Only players I could afford to sign now are the ones that would surely get me relegated back to League 2 and maybe even National league, basically just get me sacked. Only way I see out is if getting relegated back to League 1 would lower wage demands of all players back to where they were. But if demands stay the same and revenue being much lower in L1, that would be devastating and end the save for sure...

  10. DON'T PAY WHAT?? I literally said I can't pay them wages. I know very well how to manage my finances. Keep winning when in Championship when I literally said that my players are not even League 1 quality... Even if I was to just keep winning their contracts will run out very quickly and then what? This is not simple question of giving or not giving them wages they want. The situation is far more complex and that's why I came here for help

  11. I am saying no, It's just upsetting everyone tho. Everyone wants a new deal and too much money. The problem is even if I get rid of them, as I said, the players that I want to sign also want wages that are way above what I can afford... I really can't see a way out of this unless it will get reverted once I am back in league 1... Otherwise there goes my 12 years save just like that...

  12. Hey everyone, I'll try to make it as short as possible.
I took English side BRNESC from Tier 11 to League 1, and I was doing fine there. Getting released youngsters for free on less than 300p/w contracts and they were already good enough to be in my first team and then I could sell them on and get new ones next year. That was the only way I could retain net positive because very insignificant income. Despite having wages of only 20k p/w I was still losing money every month.

Now last season I managed to get promotion to Championship and all of a sudden everyone wants literally 7-8 times larger wages. Including youngsters that I would want to sign and that aren't even good enough to keep me in championship anyway.

Here are just few comparisons of old contracts vs demands. Keep in mind these are not bigger demands based on squad status changes. It's purely based on me entering championship.
    Old: 3c5c8b9f19dd8d1bebf1648bb6169525.png
    New: 481ff4d8a207f3ae1374a06f17b110ce.png

    New: 27027b72b6b964a6afd1035cc326ede6.png
Those players are not worth anywhere near those wages, they are not Championship quality, they are not even League 1 quality, we got promoted by miracle. Got predicted to finish dead last even in league 2.

My current highest earner is on 1.9k pounds. I got 5M pounds total in the bank, and if I was to give in to their demands I'd be at -5M in just few months... I am wondering if anyone has an idea how to deal with this, and if getting relegated back to league 1 will revert this nonsense?

  13. This is probably a bug but I first wanted to check if someone had similar issue and if there is actual reason behind it. Basically I have auto save set to "After matches", and for 6 and a half seasons it worked just fine. Now suddenly it randomly started autosaving, can't tell the pattern yet but it happens mostly on the same days as match (soon after the regular auto save), and a day before a match. Also I had someone join my game today or something(my match wouldn't start as it was waiting for someone) I never used any online features so not sure what was that about and maybe it's related. Help anyone?

@HUNT3R As I said, team talks, personal talks, shouts from the sideline, everything that is in my power goes greatly. The players are constantly "Fired up" and "Motivated". It's not about tactics and teams going defensive or whatever, I still get great chances and those chances fall to all the right players, putting more offensive and creative midfielders and switching up forwards with other world class ones also doesn't do anything.

@HUNT3R I already responded to you but you don't seem to read everything that I write. Others I won't even dignify with a response when their output is still "So you're complaining about this one instance in one game" Ye ok dude, either read everything or don't engage at all.

Again, I just posted screenshots and a video to give some context, but I also explained what I saw with my own eyes during gameplay. If you don't believe it, I understand that, I personally find it difficult to believe anything until I see it for myself, but then just ignore the post and stop throwing in useless passive aggressive posts.

Is it not concerning that I easily predicted what was gonna happen in that Chelsea game in Cup? So whatever you say, yes it is consistently happening. This is now 5 seasons, in 4 of those 5 seasons I've been knocked out of FA cup(keep in mind I always go full force in cups), 2 times got knocked out of Carabao Cup, lost 2 CL finals, lost 3 out of 5 Community Shields, 1 out of 2 Super Cups and Lost in the final of new Club World Championship. And then you can add to that the league games where it ends on a draw/lose. And the problem is in 90% of those games I am the better team and I lose to fluke goals, own goals, red card, penalties, players missing great chance after great chance. Just generally games being a mess, and it is constantly despite all the trophies and victories.

I have the strongest team in the world, but I still go into games without confidence and wondering what is the game gonna throw at me this time to make me lose.

I am gonna end it here since I really don't want to go into circles here. You have your conclusions I have mine

    Cheers

  15. Well I only wrote what the whole point is like 5 times... So I don't see the point of writing it again when everyone will just come back with "it happens" and "you can't expect to win every game" nonsense. I mean I don't know how many times I have to say that I am annoyed by the fashion in which I am constantly losing games. I don't care about winning, If I was just unbeatable I'd probably quit after first season as it would be boring. But when the game constantly creates ridiculous scenarios for me to lose games, it's just completely frustrating. So there's that and now people can misinterpret it again.

Since you tried to actually analyse why it is happening it would be disrespectful for me to make you try to do that when I know that it won't change how I feel about what I am experiencing.
