Thank you for your response and advice. I think you are right when you say it's best to learn from other people. There was a thread about defending in a 442 that I liked and have chosen that as my base. I'm actually playing a 424 so it's not exactly a 442 but I have taken inspiration from that thread. To make it realistic as possible I want to stick to the club vision. One of those is to be defensively solid so that matches the style I am going for. The tactics manual has really helped so thank you for linking that. I've won things on previous FM's but this year has gotten the better of me. I am currently managing Man U and have finished 4th, 2nd and 4th. Currently in 4th season and the only things I have won are the community shield twice and one FA cup

Although I have been playing FM for a number of years I find myself still confused when it comes to creating tactics and what to look out for when deciding to make changes. After watching a recent YouTuber I decided to do the following: Choose a formation with roles and duties ONLY No team instructions or player instructions Watch a game in full match Lower the speed of game to MEDIUM It was quite painful to sit there for an hour just to play one game but it was also quite interesting. I only changed one thing at a time. For example, one role change or one duty change or one team instruction. My question to those who are tactically aware........is this the most effective way of learning how roles/duties/team instructions work in FM?

Ok that's the next thing I need help with haha. How do I take screenshots and post my tactic?

I'm currently using a 442 diamond in my save and our defence is extremely shakey according to the data hub. Looking into it most of our goals are conceded by crosses into the box. Makes sense as the flanks only have the fullbacks to defend. The midfield pair are a mezzarla and carrirelo on support. Team instruction to stop crosses. I don't want to change formation as attack wise we are fine. Just wondered if anyone has any advice on what else I could try.

I want to replicate real life tactics but am struggling to find articles on the internet. For example I’m trying to find how West Ham play under Moyes this season and haven’t really found anything. Does anyone know any links or websites that are useful in finding out how teams play?

Ok so I can deal with the fact that it’s a missed shot but just think that is they are trying to replicate a simulation based on real football, teams don’t hit the woodwork that often. I am interested in the comment about 3D not being reliable and learning how to analyse tactics with data. Are there any guides or articles to look at how to understand this stuff better? Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

I hate to be that guy because I love this game but does anyone else think that shots hit the woodwork way too often? Surely can’t be my tactics. Also the number of VAR goals disallowed seems more than the opposition get. Maybe it is my tactics but would like to hear other people’s experiences.

I'm currently in my 4th season and noticed that the processing between dates is now really slow. I have adjusted the detail level as well as removing leagues. The computer performance is 4 1/2 stars and the estimated speed is 3 1/2 stars but still so slow. Is this happening because the file gets bigger as I play more seasons?
