  1. @owncredible plans for CCL? It feeds into the new fifa club world cup and intercontinental cup (if fm24 has implemented those yet). look’s amazing, great work!
  2. Well this is a realism db so the academies should account for most of the good newgens, but our current best player started at Pennsylvania Classics IIRC, so there should also be a chance for them to appear outside the academies, too! No clue how to go about affecting this, though. thanks for the reply!
  3. Any hunch on whether this will port nicely to fm25? Are worthwhile newgens appearing outside MLS academies? Id like to load this DB then manage in german lower leagues and establish a pipeline for US newgens to buy and sell on in Europe. Thanks!
  4. I shall be satisfied if this means they made it work at all! Still clears out all of my players after a few continues. Open issues: 1, 2, 3, ...
  5. Really unfortunate since it was one of the key selling points for FM23 and has a lot of potential.
  6. It's not resolved in my save, sadly. I specified players for a number of positions for 'next season', but my selections were completely scrambled and mixed with other players later on (possibly after saving and reloading, possibly during the same session, don't recall now). Just checked again and all players are now missing from the planner. So clearly undesirable things are still happening.
  7. I'm hopeful for a fix in 23.3, but nothing has been guaranteed. It's entirely possible that it won't be fixed in FM23 (could even remain in FM24 for all we know). I initially refunded my purchase, since a custom db was central to how I wanted to play, but Ive since repurchased and found a new way to play. It's less enjoyable this way and really frustrating but IMO better than potentially waiting a month, a year, or potentially even longer for the situation to be fixed.
  8. I ran into this problem on 23.2 a couple days ago. Have had to give up on the squad planner, which is sad because it was really helpful when it worked. Edit: Ah, I actually tagged you in a comment about it already apologies for the spam.
  9. @Kyle BrownI had this issue today, the squad planner (in my second season) doesn't seem to save my changes for very long, though I'm unsure of what the trigger would be. Clicking next, or going into a match, perhaps? Fiddling with roles in the tactic? Unclear. Very often, it seems to simply add players semi-randomly back to all the positions - not necessarily sorted in order by quality (best players often at the bottom) Other times, the positions are all empty, like this bug report. I've uploaded Trier.fm using the cloud upload service, thanks!
  10. Really enjoying your writing, thanks for taking the time! I notice you’ve got your poacher, who doesn’t run the channels, on the side of the interiore on attack duty. Is that to prevent the channel from getting clogged up with two players? I’m playing at a level much, much lower than the Championship, and am thinking of using IW(S) in place of WP since even my best playmaker isn’t really reliable. I’m getting the most success from balls over the top and crosses from overlapping fullbacks, not much intricacy through the middle, which is fine and I guess to be expected in the 4th tier anywhere. Looking forward to growing into the more intricate style of play when I can afford it! A knock on to the struggle to play through the middle… I occasionally ask my fullbacks to “Stay wider” which has helped us to progress the ball at times.
  11. You could move that side’s dm up to cm to make the IWB move inside? Defensive shape might suffer, though.
  12. I am enjoying the heck out of this down in the 4th tier of Germany, thanks for the post! Don’t have the creatives for proper interiores but putting them both on support and both fullbacks on attack is helping me brute force my way through our lack of quality, and we’re still surprisingly solid on the flanks. This is a really nice compliment to my main 4-1-4-1 fluid counter tactic. Thanks!
  13. @easymacbb Did you run into this issue? It seems to affect most databases which edit the USA, but maybe you've sidestepped the issue by staying away from advanced rules? If you've not run into this, or some other issue that affects long-term saves, then I'll probably pick up FM23 and start my journey (finally!)
  14. Yeah it looks pretty powerful. I was hoping to create something I could share with other FM players which would automatically/effortlessly export game data while you play. The next step would be to do something fun with that data to support the folks who like to write career updates, or just for any player to better visualize aspects of their save. Still very much ideating on that front, but step #1 remains getting the data, so thanks for this, AHK seems viable.
  15. Is this possible? I see that there's a "Ask to Print" event which can be issued on button clicks... what I'd like to do is, on continue, trigger a series of events which navigate to multiple views and print each one to pre-determined directory with a pre-determined naming schema (which ideally incorporates the game date) without asking the player. Thanks!
  16. @Abdullah PatelUnderstood, thanks! Since there's no clear plan to fix this before FM24, I've left a "Not Recommended" review on Steam for now with a warning for players who want to include any American league beyond MLS. I'm following this thread, though, and will be very happy to change the review once the problem is addressed.
  17. @Abdullah Patel JFYI I have just refunded my game on Steam because of this issue. I bought FM23 this morning specifically for some workshop content which is now available, but I am getting this error whenever I try to use it and don't have confidence that my save will function properly. Really disappointed For more context, this is the error message I see (twice) when creating my save which uses the custom database attached to this post and linked below.[1] I'm able to continue on to create the save by clicking "OK", but unsure if things got screwed up in the process. I'm also able to load the save, but the same error message appears (twice) along with the text "configthreadlocale(0)" at the bottom of the message. Like others in this thread, its a USA database. 18. Anyone play this? Stable? Just waiting on this (or a similarly well-thought-out well-implemented USA db) before picking up FM23, since it seems like SI has fixed the most egregious bugs now.
  19. Despite FM being my favorite game series, I've resigned myself to not buy it within 3 months of release due to bugs and balancing issues. Given the huge time/effort investment required to get into a save, it just isn't worth it to jump in early, IMHO. Curious if there's anyone else in my boat? I'd certainly prefer to buy the shiny new thing on release, but this hasn't been a good move for two years in a row now (buggy IW/IF behavior last year, buggy defending this year). I bought my first FM (21) after the winter update - what a great experience! FM quickly became my main leisure-time passion. Buying FM22 on release was something I massively regretted, though. And by the looks of it I'd have regretted buying FM23 on release this year, as well. This isn't meant as an SI takedown, I really appreciate the scale of the challenge they face in releasing this hugely complex software with new features every year. But it's clear that players would benefit from an altered software development lifecycle. Further, if there are significant numbers of consumers like me, who hold off on purchase until the release is stable (or perhaps skip a year or two), then there's a compelling business case for changing things up, too. Regarding this year's specific issues with poor defending from capable-on-paper defenders, automated testing should be sufficient to catch this kind of thing. A computer can simulate thousands of matches in a relatively short amount of time, and it shouldn't be difficult to write tests which aggregate stats and data from those matches and compare them against real-world target data (e.g. # of goals from long balls).[1] [1] Or if real-world targets are not possible/desirable due to expected differences between the game simulation and real-world soccer, then I'm sure the dev team can come up with adjusted target data.
  20. I'd like to roleplay as a bumbling American owner of a lower-league European club, brimming with cash and optimism (and lacking in knowhow). How would you go about setting this up? AFAICT the best way to approximate playing as an "owner" is to delegate all managerial responsibilities to the assistant manager, who becomes the effective manager. I can use the in-game editor to bring in a reasonable candidate who shares my tactical philosophy and set his salary - this is to circumvent the quality gap between candidates who would consider being the manager at my club vs those willing to be the assistant manager. I can also make myself "un-sackable" with the in-game editor as protection for when the manager fails. But there are problems: I can't fully delegate tactics to the assistant manger, correct? How close can I get to this? What happens if I never set up a tactic? I'd like to scout the USA heavily, but the board will surely block this until we've achieved "Global" scouting range - any way to fix this with the pre-game or in-game editor? I did not find a solution in FM22 Any thoughts or ideas would be very much appreciated, thanks! EDIT: I'd consider Wrexham except I'd really prefer to avoid work permits, which sound like an arbitrary and joyless slog to deal with and would probably prevent me from recruiting from the USA as much as I'd like. Germany is probably more fun.
  21. So then, is a valid workaround to load and simulate all possible leagues and players? This is my preferred save setup anyhow, since I don't mind the "Continue" action taking a bit longer. Monster PC, so it's not too bad. EDIT: Also, I'm aware there are options buried in the settings menu which affect the level of fidelity with which other club/league games are simulated... are there options we can select which improve global player development outcomes?
  22. Instead of going to the opposition scout report, clicking this button sends me to the "Squad" list view for my own team. This is while managing the national side for U.S.A.
