  1. Firstly, look for "Unattached" players in the player search, there are some good players ready for you right now. Meanwhile sell those players who you believe are not important and will not grow any further.

Get some scouts in Scotland, Wales, Ireland and Northern Ireland straight away. There will be new-gens that you can easily buy once you're in the championship. I remember bringing such a striker from Crusaders for £100k and was not only top goal scorer in League One, but was capped by Northern Ireland 6 months later.

(And no, you're not just restricted to England, you can buy players from British nations, and Ireland. Also you can go to settings in the player search, look for "Work Permit Required" and toggle it to "No", or toggle "Work Permit Chance" to "Likely.")

Just got this guy through my youth intake, first season with Leeds. He's the best regen I have ever had.

Tell me if I am missing anything but I cannot see anything wrong with him. Personality isn't the best but after mentoring from Phillips and Dallas he will be fine.

He is eligible for Ghana and England (born).

You're spot on with the actions your taking with position and mentoring to try and get the teamwork up. Only issue is you need to get that balance up then you have a very good deep-lying midfielder. Also give him a run of games if you can.

In the first international call up after the youth intake (March in the UK) I check all senior and U21 international teams for their youngest players. If any of the new youngsters are particularly good they will have been called up to one of their international squads and so you could find them there

Remember it is "uncommon" ways of finding players, because it's obvious that you should be checking national teams for good players. However, there are decent players that I've loaned or bought before who come from low ranked nations. You wouldn't initially see Lichtenstein, San Marino or Andorra for producing decent players, but they should be checked more often because of their ties with Switzerland(FC Vaduz and some other Lichtenstein based clubs), Italy(The extinct San Marino Calcio, and it's replacement, Cattolica, amongst other reasons) and Spain(F.C Andorra) respectively. That is the reason some players will appear in the senior setup after a few seasons as they've been impacted by better youth facilities and youth coaching in more advanced countries.

  4. So being inspired by my Road to Glory save with Red Star FC in FM21, I thought I'd replicate that gimmick with Torremolinos in FM22(I've been there IRL), which was simply to find quality players whilst spending little money as possible. In steps these two guys from my old save, who both came from the Spanish U19 Division 1(which you can access if you have at least La Liga Santander loaded up), from clubs who are independent from the Spanish League structure(Kelme and Damm). It happens to be that there are many more of these(and in Portugal), and they manged to produce 2 players for me, one which I would've considered using at Striker once he returned from loan, and the other who made 100 Appearances exactly and was prolific playing on the left wing. And this all made me wonder:

What are the the most uncommon and non-obvious methods of finding players that you have used before? Did you find any players that became important in your team?

Post them below because it is good to freshen the sub-deck of scouting methods from time to time.
(oh and both the players shown costed absolutely nothing.)

  5. Sorry to interrupt but his stats screams of Mezzala(Support) in the centre of midfield. 14 dribbling, 15 first touch and good passing. Generally good mentals and physicals means he is going to be excellent in carrying the ball up the field. Just make sure you have a Ball-Winning Midfielder or a deep-lying midfielder to pair with or else you'll leave gaps at the back.

  6. Got this guy through my youth academy S1(Road to Glory save) and it happens to be that he was as good in ability as my first choice RW who was best player at the club, so made him my first choice RW instantly(Training him as Inverted winger) and switched the previous guy(Gato, 32 y.o) onto the left wing. Do you think I can get this guy up to La Liga Santander standard if I keep playing him and if he doesn't get injured? (He even scored the goal that got us promoted into the Segunda Division B5.) 7. I would happily give you a starting 11 of regens but I don't have time so here's 3.
    1. Khanya Fredricks, £500k from Uthonganthi, South Africa. Was looking to replace my goalkeeper who I would eventually make 8m profit on, and this guy was a steal and was first choice in a title winning season in France. He even got a NxGn.(Just don't give him the ball though, don't want the 8 First touch to come through)
    2. Claudiu Perianu, £7m from Craiova, Romania. Is probably the big reason why everyone should check national teams from time to time, cause that's a starting winger for my team on a plate. Because ignoring the passing which I would've improved had I continued, he looks epic.
    3. Franco Ben Basat, free from San Lorenzo, Argentina. I picked up a lot of free players from Argentina(the theme of this save and one I'm currently doing with Torremolinos is to not spend too much money on a league winning team, I spent £53m on a Red Star team which won Ligue 1), and this was probably the best of the lot. This is due to the fact that he is not a natural full-back in accordance to his stats, yet he registered 30 assists in 103 appearances after I had no choice but to play him there. No wonder I made him club captain, and I would've made £60m on him if I wasn't too keen on keeping him.

  8. Can I ask which formation you are using just to be precise? It's just that there's no way he is gonna be playing either mezzala or Wing-back just because of that natural fitness. I'd recommend trying to train him as a striker on Advanced forward or Pressing Forward if you're playing wing-backs. If you want to change that though, RW on Inverted Winger/Inside Forward wouldn't be a bad gamble.

  9. You don't even need 3 teams to try and stockpile talents and sell them for money. I did it with Red Star FC in fm20 and found out after buying talents for nothing, I was selling them for at least a few hundred thousand pounds per player, which is good for a rising 3rd tier team, and to add I eventually won the CL with them whilst only spending 53million on my final set of players.

I recommend leagues in Holland, France, Spain and Germany, but make sure you use mods to add more leagues or else your B team will find it hard to develop. But when you wanna stockpile in a RTG, don't even think of spending unless you really have too.

  10. I cant guarantee the best answer cause I usually leave training to my coaches too, but I can recommend this:
    - Are all the Portugal leagues loaded(FC Porto B will usually be in Second Division). If you don't have the right divisions loaded, Porto B are unlikely to appear in an active division, meaning it's just friendlies for them.
    - Are the coaches you currently have got good stats(For FCP a 11/12 for a B team is good enough, possibly even up to 15 in appropriate coaching stats)
    - Training > Coaches > Edit Coaching Assignments. Because what good will any of your coaches do if you haven't assigned any of the drills to them. Assign each drill to their advantages and don't leave too many drills to yourself.
    - In the same training column, go to "Rest" and look at the Training Intensity Schedule column. Id suggest coming from the right(90 percent condition) towards the left(Very Poor Condition) try Double Intensity, Normal Intensity, Half Intensity, Half Intensity, No pitch work.
    - Also there is mentoring but I don't tend to utilise it often cause I look for personality in scouting players and the Head of Youth Development. However, if used correctly it has great effects.

It would also be a good time to say that for leagues which don't cap players registered, you can stock fringe players into the B team IF they aren't in a league, and then utilise them if your team runs into injury or suspension issues, and you can even sell them for a few hundred thousand - million pounds at the end.(Because of my gegenpressing-possession tactics I found out as useful, I obviously had injuries and suspensions. It worked when I won the Champions league with Red Star FC, in which my B team weren't assigned to a active league, and I can use B team players in league matches with the club I'm playing with now (Torremolinos, promoted to Segunda Division B5 in D1). I did add the Tercera Division by mods to increase the chance of my B team appear in an active league(Which hopefully will happen by S4.)

B Teams are a pain to deal with but if you're players aren't developing, you got to use your intuition and find out how in other ways you can utilise them best. If you do want to use the method of stocking players in the B team to sell on for money, then make sure you spend as little money as possible in bringing players in.
