  1. Season 2 - Summer Transfer Window Outs: Tord Flolid (Loan), Alexander Fesshaie Beraki (Loan Ended) Ins: Dennis Praet (Free), Alfie Taylor (Free, end of contract), Viljami Sinisalo (Free), Jón Daði Böðvarsson (Free). Tord Flolid our backup keeper has got out on loan to second division side KPV, to get some game time. We hope to see him develop while away. Alexander Fesshaie Beraki had his loan ended by AIK as i hasn't playing him a CAM, which is super annoying and i thought they wouldn't be bothered as he was playing in a lot of the games at Striker. The first signing we made in the summer window was Dennis Praet the midfielder joins us after being released by Leicester City, for this league he is a excellent midfielder and I believe i can use him in the AP, Cm on attack, or even drop into the DM Regista role. This is a great pick up as he has only just left a Premier League team. Alfie Taylor a new left footed CB joins from Hull City for a free, at 21 he has plenty of room to grow and is already are best defender. Viljami Sinisalo a new goalkeeper, this wasn't a position I felt I needed but when a great young Finnish keeper comes available, you take it, he is better than what we have now and has a international cap. Jón Daði Böðvarsson a Icelandic Striker to replace Alexander Fesshaie Beraki, the ex Bolton, Millwall and Reading Striker joins us to lead the line and hopefully score us some goals. Jón Daði Böðvarsson Viljami Sinisalo Alfie Taylor Dennis Praet
  2. Season 2 - First Half After a successful pre season and the new additions we started the season strong, including winning the League Cup not really a competition I or the board care about, but a trophy is a trophy, and this is the first time the club has won the League Cup. Winning over our biggest competition for the title HJK in the final on pens, Arvid Lundberg and Muhamed Téhé Olawale as the top two scorers in the cup with 5 and 4 goals. Kayrat Jyrgalbek uulu and Louie Watson also showing that they could be excellent signings with 3 assists each. I join you on the 30th August so just before the league spilt and after the European qualifying rounds, in the league we sit 2nd behind serial winnings HJK by 1 point and with one game in hand. We have at times struggled with all the games we know have, and some players have struggled to play all the games, luckily i like to rotate and make a lot of subs, but I would like to have been able to play Kayrat Jyrgalbek uulu more, as he 3 player of the matches, with 2 goals and 5 assists in 11 games, and the highest average rating but he is often tired after the European games. Elias Äijälä, Louie Watson, and Gylfi Sigurðsson have proved to be great signings and I'm really happy with there contributions to proving the strikers with goals. Arvid Lundberg and Muhamed Téhé Olawale are the strike force I have mostly go with, with our loan player from AIK being good but not quiet as lethal as the others. Now the Champions League, in the first round we had Qarabağ FK Ağdam (Azerbaijan) and won 5-1 over the two legs, next was FK Žalgiris Vilnius (Lithunia) who we beat 6-3 over the two legs, in the third round was our toughest test Croatian giants HNK Hajduk Split, now over the two legs i beleive we where the better team and deserved to go through, with around a 1.7 xg more than them over the two legs, but it wasn't too be and we lost at home 3-2 and drew 2-2 away, but all is not lots as we drop into the Europa league qualifiers. Now in a bit of luck we got Víkingur R (Iceland) and won both games with ease 3-0 and then 4-3. We're now in the Europa league group stage and got a massive boost to our finances and are now back in the black, hopefully this can get us back to a professional status. The Europa League also has a better theme song anyway. I will updated on the mid season signings on the next update.
  3. He's been a absolute beast for me to start the season, I will update on the save soon where him and several others are smashing it.
  4. Season 2 Ins and Outs Outs: Robin Sid (Released End of Contract), Dé (Released End of Contract), Michael Fonsell (Released End of Contract), Hussein Usman Suleman (Released End of Contract), Roman Eremenko (Retried), Daniel Enqvist (£28k(£33k). Ins: Gylfi Sigurðsson (Free), Jayden Danns (Free), Louie Watson (Free), Kayrat Jyrgalbek uulu (Free), Elias Äijälä (Free), Alexander Fesshaie Beraki (Loan). Also several youth players. First the outs, the biggest losses are Dé and Roman Eremenko, Dé didn't want to stay at us due too our semi professional status and Roman Eremenko was 37 so retired, both will be big misses and we will need to find replacements in the striker and DM position. Hussein Usman Suleman, did not develop and we argued about training every week so he was let go. Daniel Enqvist, played well, but i got in a new LB and have others for backups so when a offer unexpectedly came in from fellow Finnish side Seinäjoen Jalkapallokerho we let him go. The new signings I'm pretty happy with, Gylfi Sigurðsson comes in too play the Regista role in DM, i know we can't play there right now, but I think he can do a job there. Jayden Danns is a young English striker who can maybe break into the first team. Louie Watson is our star signing, looks great already at this level, has room to grow, and played for my favorite team Derby. He will play in the AP position and will hopefully be our creative outlook for the year. Kayrat Jyrgalbek uulu, glad I don't have to say it, my first ever player from Kyrgyzstan, and now our best RB, looks very good and equally good going forward as back. Elias Äijälä the LB replacing Daniel Enqvist is better in most areas and have more potential and he also doesn't want so much money a win win all round. Alexander Fesshaie Beraki is coming on loan from Swedish side AIK, I believe he will be the new Dé, lets see how he gets on and maybe we sign him after the loan if he performs well. Louie Watson Kayrat Jyrgalbek uulu Elias Äijälä Alexander Fesshaie Beraki
  5. Youth Intake and Development I've played a bit a ahead so I don't have the email for the youth intake, but we don't really have much to speak about as the intake wasn't so good. The only player I will show you is Ammar Ågren a CB that could get some game if we have injuries or if heavy rotation is needed. I will now show you how some of our other young players have been developing, I hope that the downgrade to semi professional doesn't stop us being able to get success with development like the following players. Arvid Lundberg Leo Andersson
  6. Yeah the downgrade makes it a more interesting season, hopefully we can do well in the European qualifiers and get some money in to get back to professional status.
  7. End of Season Woes Now after the end of an title winning season in you're first season, when the expectation was to avoid relegation we be on a high, but we were brought back down too earth as our overspending on players wages had come back to haunt us, the writing was on the wall around the last few months of the season when they reduced the wage budget, but i thought it would be fine if we won the league, the board had decided we were going to back to a semi professional club due to financial issues, greater reducing the type of player we can bring in and then reduced the number of staff members we could have. Now winning the league had come at a cost, but hopefully we can retain the players we want to keep, and can bring in a few new additions. One of the reason for the financial issue could also be due to the technical director signing a load of unneeded staff to the 2nd team, which don't play in a league or have any players, this along side my over spending and the fact we don't get big crowds has put us in a bit of a mess. Now I am under to get rid of the staff a the director contracted all of them for another season before I was able to release him, I don't like to have any doing the staff contracts and as I never normally have anyone in this role I didn't notice he was giving out contracts. In other bad news Roman Eremenko decided to retire, now i get it he was 37 but i would of happily kept him for another season. The other devastating player news is that Dé will not sign for us as we are know a semi professional club. Let's see how we can rebuild after this and what else happens in the off season.
  8. Season 1 - Second Half First things first some squad admin in the summer transfer window. Outs: Pedro Machado (£13.25k), Jayden Reid (Free) Pedro Machado our Portuguese CB has left the club for a fee of £13.25k too Salgueiros back in this native Portugal, they play in the Portugal Championship (4th Tier??). I prefer my others CB's and would rather play the young Nigeria Emmanuel Chukwuemeka Okereke over him and this way we can use the money to get the defender I want, this was a risky move as one of the things I forgot to mention early is that are best CB Patrik Raitanen got injured after the second game and then continued to get injuries for the rest of the season, but all was well and we got are man in who we will see later. Jayden Reid a fellow English has left the club he was homesick, not able to learn the language and didn't fit into our narrow formation, tried to get some money for him but got nothing in the end, just happy to get him off the wage bill. He joined Morecambe of League 2. Ins: Benas Satkus CB (Free), Ville Ojala RB/LB (Loan), Dé (Back from Loan) Ville Ojala was brought in for backup at full back but I didn't want to have to use him, just here if i really really need him. I won't show him as he never played and was just a backup. Next we have Benas Satkus the Lithuanian international who is now our best CB he is pretty decent at everything and at 23 still has room to grow and be apart of the team for some time. Last we got our best Striker back Dé now our other Strikers have done well but no-one has really held down the other Striking position next too Muhamed Téhé Olawale. We hope for him to lock down this 2nd Striker role and keep us top of the table. Benas Satkus (Some attributes are higher than when signed as picture is from the start of the next season) Dé Now can we continue our good form and stay top of the league??? OF COURSE WE CAN!!!!!!!!!!!! First season, League title, was all pretty comfortable in the end, helped by HJK Helsinki struggling with the increased amount of fixtures due to making it into the Europa League group stage and them winning the Finnish Cup. We never looked like losing it. Stand out performers we're player of the season and the League's top scorer with 16 goals Muhamed Téhé Olawale, shout out also to Dé who got 7 goals and 5 assists in 12 games. Petteri Forsell with the most assists in the season with 10, also loved Roman Eremenko in this Regista role. Lastly defender of the year out LB Daniel Enqvist who really isn't anything special and it's actually a bit rubbish attribute wise but played well and end the season with 6 assists and an average rating of 7.24. Now we need to look ahead to next season and how we can strength the squad to compete in the league and Europe, but before the end of the season we were meet with some bad news. Until next time....
  9. Season 1 - First half Now lets see how we got on in our first season, we will start with the pre season cup, the League Cup. Now this isn't something I or the board really care about, but it would be nice to perform well and see what our squad is capable of. Tactically we started the season in a 4-2-3-1 with 2 DM's, 2 Wingers on attack, in a more counter attacking style. We finished top of our group (just), not the most convincing but we got through before losing on penalties in the semi final after being the better team in the game against Ilves. I'm not completely convinced on the tactic, but I'm happy we were able to compete in this competition and make it out the group. After the opening games of the season we changed formation due to a slow start too a narrow 4-1-3-2 using a Regista in the DM position, this is not a role I've used before but I think playing Roman Eremenko here will help drive us forward with the ball. Now changing to a formation without wingers will result is us looking to move a few players on or try to shift them to either a CM role or as a Striker. Below I will show the tactic as is ended up at the end of the season, the only extra player roles are that the AP has more direct passes and ease off tackles, while the CM on attack plays almost like a Mezzala with stay wide and run wide with the ball. After the formation change we started to storm up the league, going on a 12 game unbeaten run between the middle of May and the start of August. Moving 18. Muhamed Téhé Olawale to striker from winger turn out to be a stroke of genius and was smashing in the goals all season. The experiment with Roman Eremenko and Petteri Forsell in the DM and AP roles has turn us into a real attacking force, we move the ball about beautifully and cut teams open like butter. A the mid way point we have found ourselves top of the league, apart from an early exit in the Finnish cup, out in the first game we played, a very impressive start to the season.
  10. Season 1 Transfers In the transfers market we were looking for depth at full back or better than we have, a new ST, a midfielder who actually has good passing and vision and maybe a 3rd choice keeper incase of injuries. Now normally I rarely sign old players or go other the wage budget, but this went out the window and I went against my normal principals. At full back we signed Matias Hänninen who is a 33 year old who recently has been playing in the tier below us, he can fill in at both left/right back and even play on midfield adding some depth to the team, he also has good mentals which we can use to mentor some of are younger players. Next is the player I'm most looking forward to and probably the oldest player I've ever signed, but when a player who is down as a legend of Finnish football and looks like the midfielder we were looking for to unlock defenses. Welcome Roman Eremenko now he can't really run, but his passing and vision is a cut above anyone else in this league. The Russian born ex Finland international, I'm hoping will play a big part in our season and will also be used for mentoring. Our last signing who we picked up after the League cup and before the start of the season is one of our club legends and also like Roman Eremenko will help us unlock defenses and mentor the youth. This is his 3rd spell at the club, and were hoping he doesn't ruin his legendary status at the club. Welcome home Petteri Forsell, the veteran winger/attacking midfielder joins us and I'm not sure exactly where I will play him in this team, but I think he will slot in behind the Striker. Now even with moving the transfer budget into the wages we have gone over budget, so we don't have room to maneuver later in the season. Will we regret signing slow older players or will the experience prove vital? Will gambling on getting no GK injuries, cause us headaches later in the season? Getting no new Striker and hoping it will be ok to just wait until our out on loan striker comes back, cause us to have a lack of goals? Let's jump into the season and see.
  11. Meet the Players - Part 2 In Midfield we have players that are mostly defensive and we may struggle to unlock defenses. The players I like the look of the most are Sebastian Dahlström, Matias Ojala and are midfielder with the most potential Emmanuel Patut. We will look to bring in some new midfielders who can play them killer passes. Emmanuel Patut Matias Ojala Sebastian Dahlström Our attack looks weak and are best ST is out on loan until the middle of the season in Ukraine (I'll show him when he's back), most of the players can play in all positions in attack which will help us with rotation. 18. Muhamed Téhé Olawale is the only player that I rate right now other than the out on loan player Dé, we hope to use him out on the wing and use he's pace which it's that high, but in our team it's one of the highest. In the youth sides we have two players that i hope to use in rotation where possible and help them reach there potential, Arvid Lundberg and Wille Nuñez. Muhamed Téhé Olawale Arvid Lundberg
  12. Meet the Players The Gk's we have two currently contracted to the club. Matias Riikonen and Marc Nordqvist who is also a goalkeeping coach for the under 20s. Matias Riikonen will be the first choice and has some potential so i hope we can develop him. Matias Riikonen In defense we have a lack of full backs and this is somewhere we need to add depth or fine some better quality players. Eero-Matti Auvinen and Patrik Raitanen are the best defender we have and both can play full back if needed, with Eero-Matti Auvinen also being left footed this makes him more valuable as he can play at the left CB position. With 5. Hussein Usman Suleman and Patrik Raitanen having the most potential Patrik Raitanen will be starting most games and hopefully this will help him reach the potential. Hussein Usman Suleman Eero-Matti Auvinen Patrik Raitanen
  13. Thanks , are IFK Mariehamn not well liked by the other teams in the league? I think we'll be fine and not near the relegation zone, just need to find the right tactic and a few new additions.
  14. The Club/League Overview As Finland is an winter league i set up the game to start at early pre season for the 2024 season, which is late December. We can see from the game's club overview screen at the start of the save, we are predicted to 9th, so we are not one of the top teams in Finland. We also don't have much history to speak of with one Finnish Cup and one Finnish Premier league to our name. We don't have much room for maneuver in the transfer market, with £17k for transfer budget and only £217 p/w wage budget available. Are facilities are ok, but need improvement and we will look to do this when possible. Currently the overall balance of the club is £87k The league consists of 12th teams, with one team going down automatically and one in a play off, we then have a league spilt after 22 games and you play in teams in you're split once. We hope to be in the top half split come the end of the season and playing for the European spots. We can see that HJK Helsinki is as expect the favorites, where as we are expected to be down by the relegation spots. We also have the Finnish Cup and the league Cup, which is played during the pre season and have a group stage then a knockout tournament.
  15. (FM24) Island Boys - IFK Mariehamn One of the fun parts of football manager is finding teams that are a bit abnormal, that don't fit in with the rest, maybe they're from a region of the country which speak a different language, maybe they're not part of the main land. Well in this save I will be playing as a team which is both. IFK Mariehamn are from the Åland Islands, an autonomous region of Finland, and the official language is Swedish not Finnish on the islands. The question is can we turn them into a powerhouse of Finnish football and maybe even the World, starting at home, dominating the league could prove tricky due to the dominates of HJK Helsinki, who have won the league a record 33 times, the next highest being 9. It won't be an easy task to topple the giants of Finnish football, but we'll give it a damn good go. Goals for the Save: 1. Become the best team in Finland. 2. Develop Local Talent. 3. Be able to compete in Europe. 4. Help the nation team consistently make International Tournaments.
  16. Season 6 Transfers and Europa League Knockouts. Another busy window, we needed to recruit after we lost a far few players in the off season. We weren't able to get any new strikers after losing two strikers in the off season, luckily with Yunusa Muritala (ST) and Valerijs Lizunovs (ST) we still have two great strikers. Titov was replaced with a random Brazilian free agent in Vitor (RB) a rapid, defensively solid right back, very happy with this addition. Edvards Ivanovs (GK) young keeper just needed a backup and someone to play for the u18s. Janis Kalnins (CM) young CM could hopefully develop into a good squad player. Kazeem Okeke (GK) Nigerian backup keeper. Aleksandrs Solovjovs (LB) young Latvian LB to play for the under 18s and an emergency backup for the first team at LB. Kolyo Georgiev Bulgioan (CB) young defender looks promising, and I look forward to using him, will be a backup to the first team. Jean Marc Diomande (CB/DM/CM) Ivory coast international, following Wilfried Traoré from ASEC Mimosas, great player will be deployed a CB, but he only came at the mid-point of the season so won't feature in the Europa knockouts. On the outs Marko Regža (ST) was no longer needed and went on loan to Riga, and David Akintola Idowu (CB) left too Qatar good transfer fee got happy with the sale. AGS Asteras Tripolis (Greece) were our Europa league opponents and I think I underestimated them as I thought we'd easily win, especially after a 1-1 draw away, but I think the lack of league football as this game came in are pre-season done us over losing 2-1 at home. What a journey, pound of the lads just wish we'd have got further.
  17. On this years game I noticed a new league I have never seen before on FM the Latvian Higher League or Virslīga. A league with only 7 teams in the league (10 after one season), there wasn't a large variety of team to choice from, however one team stood out to me: FS Metta. FS Metta were officially founded on May 2, 2006 and in 2007, FS Metta and the university of Latvia (Latvijas Universitāte) merged as a senior professional team and participated in the Latvian Championship first division (2nd tier). With the backing of the university the club were provided with extra funds and the ability if the players wished, too send there players to the university. The clubs youth philosophy really interested me, though a professional club, Metta retained the prefix FS (Futbola Skola), since their policy is to invest in youth players and In 2020 FK Metta were the youngest top-tier team in Europe, at the end of the season, the team's average age was 19,5. This was the perfect team in this league to start a build a nation save. The club at the start of the save are expected to finish bottom and having never finished higher than 7th in the top division, it could be a while before we become the best team in the nation. Goals 1. Become the best team in Latvia. 2. Become a regular in the Champions League. 3. Develop quality players for the national team. 4. Take over the national team and become a regular in World/European cup competitions.
