One thing never changes with England, we get knocked out, and the collective media, punditry and fanbase practically self immolating looking to play the blame game. I've been asking myself this question all day, but if we won, would these stories and the inquest be ongoing? I'm not so sure. FWIW think its time for Southgate to move on but the media frenzy is all a bit pathetic. Probably end up with somebody else and not going as far in 2026.

He wasn't fit. He was injured and missed the last few games of Bayerns season due to a back injury. It was very noticeable in his mobility and the fact he couldn't jump or challenges for balls most of the time. I'd not be surprised if he has some time out after this tournament to recuperate more after getting barely no rest in 6 weeks.

Seriously, ex players who did worse in an England shirt should not be coming out with this absolute counter productive rubbish. Rio saying Gareth should 'take some stick' for us not winning as well. Well, maybe, yes, but right after the game has finished there is no humility from any of these ex players just looking to cast blame and generate clicks and attention for themselves.

I don't think so. And most people I'm reading (and listening to) talk about the glaring errors being coaching rather than who is being picked, or not picked. You said it yourself, he'll do well for Bayern in a team that dominates. We've never set ourselves out to play that way. The glaring error for me is quite obviously tactical, doesn't suit the players we've got, but then we've done brilliantly in spite of that. I'm not going to go too deep down the rabbit hole of tactics though, ultimately I don't really care about that or who the manager is. Proud of them for getting to the final. After that, I'm not going to be harsh as we didn't get beaten 3-0, and it could have gone differently. Never mind, on to the next one.

Kane was obviously still carrying an injury. And he's lost a yard of pace and what made him really successful in an England shirt he didn't really have (runners playing off him). I don't mind Kane playing but we need to start looking for alternatives in those games against minnows.

Both goals conceded today had the same problem, and it wasn’t Walker’s fault but Saka being miles out of position and/or unable to track the man down that side. Absolutely delighted for Cole Palmer coming on to make a difference, Ollie was unlucky not to control Jude’s through ball better. Again today we showed great intensity after going behind, and might have played better if we could have done that all game. But no disgrace, I’m proud of the team. Thought we played well except for the glaring mistake on the right flank, just asking Walker to do too much there. Here’s to USA ‘26, and hope we can go deep in the tournament there as well.
