That's a solid choice.  It was one I was concidering before I grabbed the hp deal from Costco for £600.   That said , it's worth noting the lenovo doesn't come with any OS..so you would need to factor in getting windows if thats an issue

Now you're giving me something to think about haha. I honestly am useless with this kind of thing. My main priority is processing time for FM.

Is this the one you've bought?

Yes that's it.  CPU and ram are faster than the £650 one and bigger screen and HDD.   Which I think is better long term than a slight GPU improvement. (Approx 10%)  As GPU isn't the main thing for FM.   The 4050 will also cope with future FM releases no problems.  So you don't lose anything there.  Anyway it's up to you.

I've not pulled the trigger yet on this https://www.costco.co.uk/Computers/Laptops-MacBooks/HP-Victus-Intel-Core-i5-16GB-RAM-512GB-SSD-NVIDIA-GeForce-RTX-4060-156-Inch-Gaming-Laptop-15-fa1006na/p/476077

Would you go for that at £650 or the MSI at £700? Cheers again.

I pulled the trigger on the 16" Ryzen version with rtx 4050 for £600.  I thought the better CPU, bigger HDD, faster ram and larger screen made up for the slightly lower GPU.  And was £50 less.

just thinking ahead for FM 25 really, or could I get something better for similar money, thanks

You can get this from Lenovo website direct for £550 at the moment brand new. Check my posts about further up for link.

  5. With Black Friday starting I have found some deals and would appreciate some  feedback as to which to go for.

Mainly use for general home office / web browsing and of course to play FM.  Also some light steam gaming like civilization and old school command and conquer.  Is it necessary to go for a "gaming laptop".   What are the most important factors for FM and the like above

    Budget is £600 max

    Lenovo laptop 14" Ryzen 7 7735HS with Radeon 680m iGPU and a decent screen. £550 although I have a 10% code

Or the gaming laptop Lenovo ideapad ryzen 6600h with RTX 3050 £550. But again I have 10% code.

All the above have 16GB ram and 512GB sotrage as standard.

Or a curveball  which is slightly slower CPU and less storage  £549

HP Victus Gaming Laptop 15-fb0020na Bundle with HyperX Pulsefire Mouse & HyperX Cloud Stinger Headset | AMD Ryzen 5-5600H | Radeon RX 6500M |8GB RAM | 256GB SSD | 15.6” FHD | Windows 11 Home |Black

Which offers better future proof and are the screens

    Thanks all
