  1. I'm not complaining at all. The fact that we don't have perfect scouting is completely fine by me. I was just making the point that if people want to manually scout everything in a very aggressive fashion they should be able to do so.
  2. Well I think the human player should have the option on how he wants to play. If people prefer to wait that their scouts find something good for them, if people want to "cheat" using FM scout good for them to and if people find joy in aggressively raiding the data base by manually raiding the data base they should be allowed to do so. When it comes to not making bad signing I'm not so sure. Yes we are much better at making decision than the IA but even, with the best scouts I sometimes sign players that are pretty bad simply because the PA estimation was way off or because the personality was middle of the road (so not great but no big red flag) but for some reasons the players don't turn out great despite the mentoring and the coaching. I think the worst offenders are the high CA young players. The PA rating is based of the CA rating so you could have someone with 115 CA at 16. The scouts could tell you he has a 5 stars potential but in reality his PA is maybe 135. So you buy the player thinking massive potential and very good stats for a 16yo but in reality he will never be good enough to play at the highest level.
  3. There need to be a drastic overall of how players behave. Fm24 is nicknamed whine manager for a reason. Very often the behavior of the players is highly unreasonable and would never happen in a professional football club. For instance very often players that have no future at the club will refuse to go on loans and would prefer to play with the B team. Otherwise they will refuse a transfer or a loan that makes no sense "I'm not interested in Barcelona because my favorite destination would be Volendam" like for real??? On average it is way too difficult to find loans for your players which combine with the ridiculously low sale value when you don't play in the Premier league makes it unworthy to look at that aspect of the game. Very often when I take over a club anyone that is not regular starter, a sub or a strong prospect gets released on a free immediately. In reality no club would ever do that as some of these players would be worth a few millions but in FM it's just not worth it.
  4. Yeah it feels more like a poor attempt at protecting the IA. It's like I have the best scouts in the world and I cannot put them on assignment because it will take them forever to find the next wonderkids. I have to manually scout all the under 16 years old in all the top clubs or use the youth intake page to manually scout them. It is mega painful and on top of that we are limited to ordering 50 reports at once.
  5. Usually what works is pissing off the player. Talk to him and say that he sucks and that he needs to get over it. He will get mad. Send him for a month with the u18 and then start playing him back in the position that you want. I never had to get rid of a player because he was mad and Im rarely keeping my promises. Ultimately you need to win matches. If you win titles you can get away with everything
  6. I'm playing possession based football with a high line and I would still take a striker with 20 pace and 20 acceleration even if he has 1 finishing and 1 composure over a player that would have the exact inverse attributes. Obviously such an extreme example never materializes in real life but you get the idea. Relevant stats have been tested to death in FM over the years and physical stats have pretty much always been "meta" regardless of the kind of football you are playing. Likewise the game is generating on average way more good wingers than good wingbacks or defensive midfielders so it makes sense to use a system with attacking midfielders left and right (which main attributes are pace and acceleration BTW 😉). Not saying you cannot win with a different set up but it's just way easier to win in FM when you have strong physical stats. As I said earlier unless you find players with an extremely unbalanced profile it always make sense for me to field the highest CA one (based on my recalculation I'm playing without the editor). It would take up a lot to compensate for 10 CA points which is also the reason why on average multi role players (defensive midfielder, midfielder, offensive midfielder for instance) are bad because it will eat away CA points.
  7. I'm not saying that part of the game didn't need fixing but they overdone it a lot I think. If you are playing with Luton it makes a lot of sense that players would refuse to sign with you at a young age even if you are playing in the Premier league. On the other end when you have won so many titles, are the best manager in the world in the best club in the world I think 90%+ of the players should want to sign with you right away. Bearing in mind the cannot move to the country before they are 18 if they are non EU and so on
  8. It used to be way way easier to sign young players in the previous versions of the game. I should run an experiment and check out of 100 how many are ready to sign for me and trying to find the breaking point in contract length.
  9. I disagree with that. It's very easy to export all the stats of your squad in excel and have a couple of formulas to give them a grade (which can be done using the weights or something else). In fact I can assess any squad in seconds with my spreadsheet. Then when it comes to the key stats my experience is completely different. Ultimately the only thing that matters is CA unless you have some really weird players that would have 20 in all physical stats and 1 everywhere else. They would technically have a very low CA but still be the best players but I have never met such a player outside of an experiment. Also no matter what your role is most of the stats make very little difference. For as long as I can remember and I have been playing FM for over 20 years it's all about physical stats in general and especially pace and acceleration (which are always highly weighted so that's a hint). The weights are not always correct but it takes a lot of experience to know what is or not so saying look at the weights was an easy and I maintain very elegant solution. When the OP becomes more confident he will realize that tackling is useless on a CD despite being key for the role while pace and acceleration being very important even not being part of the role.
  10. If it can help you it is possible to find the weights the game is assigning to each stats for each role. For instance acceleration has a weight of 10 for the purpose of CA calculation while teamwork has a CA of 1 for a striker. This gives according to me a much better view of what stat is important and what is not. In that example acceleration is absolutely key while teamwork is near useless.
  11. I agree with you it is very poorly modelled and highly unrealistic. Hopefully there is an easy fix. Whenever you have signed a new player or a new contract with a player that has a status higher than regular starter wait for the end of the season and change agreed playing time to something much lower like your star player to fringe for instance. The player will be mad but they get mad in any case so you might as well give them a reason. They will be unhappy for a while and then they will get over it. As a rule of thumb don't interact with the players unless you really have to, as most of the time you just have a range of negative outcome that makes it not worth your time.
  12. Hello, Im a veteran FM player returning for FM24 (last time I played was for FM21). I find one of the aspect of the new game unbearable to the point that I just want to go back to FM21 unless there is a fix. Whenever I try to sign a young player they never want to deal with me before they are 18. I have been playing with Ajax and in 5 years I have won the league 5 times and the CL 3 times, Ajax is the biggest and richest club in the world and I am the most famous manager in the world yet whenever I try to sign a 15 or 16 years old they are absolutely not interested in playing for me. This is completely stupid. I have been playing a bit with the game and it seems it has to do with their contracts, if they have signed any contract recently they will decline all talks even if their clubs would be keen to sell them. Once they get to 18 it's usually easier as the youth contract are getting close to expiry and then of course I can sign most of them. I understand that in the previous FM it was maybe too easy for a low club with no reputation to buy all the foreign wonderkids but the current situation is just ridiculous. Imagine Real Madrid trying to sign a 16 years old playing for getafe and the player is saying no thank you Im not interested. Anyway the post was not to complain but to know if there is a way to fix that with the pre game editor? Of course with the ingame editor I could transfer any player I want to my club but this is not what Im looking for. Thank you
