Hi there,
As we can see across the community, more and more restrictions are put into getting logos, kits, pictures etc. More or less any pack is now prohibited for download.
For SI / SEGA:
- What does the future bring in relation to this topic. Will SEGA acquire the rights for player pictures, club logos and shirts across lets say the top 5-10 leagues.
- Will you be forced to make it technically impossible for the above items to be installed?
For sure if you have to play the game with fake data, then half of the games value goes down, no matter how much dept and realism you can put into the game.

The tactic is coming along slow to be honest.
If your looking for a winger tactic i recommend the Invinciables one, That is a brillinat tactic and well worth trying out.

How about realeasing it as a beta, and let people play with the defence settings? It have worked before, and truely you master the offense part all the time... Maybe some other managers can assist with the defence then..

It's interesting, I play quite frequently against formations with 3 strikers, mainly 3-4-3 formations, yet my flat four defense has little problems dealing with them most of the time. I'm not trying to disprove any of these claims, in fact, I do know that there are certain advantages to using three strikers, however, these advantages are ever so slight, and only part of it does have to do with the ME lacking in some areas of defense, but you can't claim that all the advantages are because of ME's problems. That's just not true. There are also other reasons why such tactics are successful, especially in attack. One reason is they put many players into dangerous offensive positions either in or near opponent's penalty area, in effect overloading the defense, but that's really the point of it. Just as there's an Overload strategy if you use the tactics creator.
Then there are of course the players themselves, and especially the physical attributes, which are still overpowered somewhat. There's too much emphasis put on them, but that's again an ME problem.
So all in all, you just have a combination of different things. Some are slight ME imbalances or shortcomings, and others are just plain tactical decisions on the part of the tactics makers. If you want to start criticizing a tactic, then you have to criticize them all, because they all use the same principals to certain degrees to achieve success, and all will incorporate a certain exploitation of the ME in one way or another.
My personal advice would be to stop worrying about these things and simply enjoy the game the way you prefer. There are simply too many things for one to consider in order to avoid every single kind of ME exploitation. You'll probably drive yourself crazy trying to play FM the "right way".
I guess some of this is pointed towards me. I just forgot to say, that I primarily play FML - and that I only play FM some 2-3-4 months after each release. But I am playing the game vs human managers, not offline AI controlled teams, which is why we probably experience it differently in the behaviour of the opposition.
I know this is a FM forum, but this tactic is by far the most common tactic in FML, where it really takes advantages of the GE flaws.
I would like to hear your opinion about my point 2?

Yes tactics are created to make the most of the game, but then you still have so many other factors to take into account!
You would need to buy the 3 right strikers to make the tactic really effective, and manage a team, not just manage a tactic.
Altho every team and every club plays to tactics that suit them and make them play the best they can.
Not really, what you need for strikers is acc and pace, basically that is it. Of course otb, composure, first touch and strength means something, but nothing more important than pace.

Tell me what is unrealistic about my tactics?
This is just to explain what can be seen as unrealistic about the tactic - especially the 4123. In fact I dont know if we should label your tactic as unrealistic, it is more the GE that are unrealistic. I will just list two main arguments then we can discuss those.
1. Attacking wise the three strikers makes the opposition defence look like pub players. With 4 defenders it should be possible to handle 3 attackers, particular knowing there only is a 3 man midfield. But the backs do not mark/cover or defend against the FCR and FCL.
2. The 3 man midfield is capeable of defending to good. The two MC can cover the entire width of a pitch alone, even if they are facing four-five opposition players. If it where supposed to be a bit realistic, they should be complete out of stamina after some 25-30 min. But they never do.

Completly off topic but i wonder how many people have used my tactics in FM10 or Fmlive, It must be in thousands because i know it's on forums in Holland Germany Greece Portugal aswell as loads in England too.
I would say a rough estimate, is that 65-70% of ALL users of FML currently players the 4-1-2-3 formation, and it is really hard to beat... it is so widespread that SI will change the ME to make narrow formations less effective.

Testing with Tottenham is going great at the minute scoring alot of goals and to be honest i'm not conceding that much. Gomes has really been on form though and the Opposition has had alot more CCC's than i'd like. It's only the defence i need to tighen up.
Just beat Wigan 5-1 away, they created 4 CCC's i created 1 so it is alot closer than the score line suggests.
Do you play the wingers as wingers attack? or inside forwards? I know modric is a killer inside forward.

Not good to be honest no matter what i do what i change in the team settings or the player settings my Fullbacks still go forward it's incredibly annoying
How about releasing it, have people test it in various ways and have their try at making it better defensively?

what manually setting would you do before a game?
Man mark the FCL and FCR with the full backs, or play a 3 mand central defence.. Exploit the wings and man mark the DMC with your striker.. evt. target the two midfielders and try to play wide.

Your formation is so ever dominant in FML.. In the long run it is unbeatable if you dont make a lot of settings manually before each game.
I am looking forward to trying the new one in FML as well, I will let you know how it performs..

My major problem (speaking as a FML user) is the DC's positioning, they simply get caught in no mans land, when strikers run into channels.
Just take as example this 4-1-2-3 is pretty hard to defend against, as you have to manually mark the FCR and FCL with the fullbacks, and then do zonal in the center defence.

27 straight wins, and 45 games unbeaten with your 4-1-2-1-2 tactic, using the tweaks you suggested earlier Mr Hough.
Also the Strikers are scoring lots (I think the best one has 27 goals in 33 games or something like that), but so is the AMC and the MC's as well. Not as much as the Strikers, but still it is nice to see. I notice that Long Shots is a very nice ability to have, especially for the MC's and AMC, would you agree?
Could you list the changes made? I am trying to make it work on FML, but the strikers are really not scoring any goals.

Kits, logo, pictures licenses in the future

Yes that is what worries me.
It has been possible up until last year to modify your game to make it as close to real life as you can get. This year you can see various sites have been threatened by what I assume is the player organizations who have the rights to player pictures, from the leagues who have the rights to logos etc.
You can also see in FIFA where Juventus is now called Piemonte, while the players are still there due to the license agreement with FIFPRO. If FM series would have to call clubs by fake names and it would be impossible to change those names, that would be the downfall. Hopefully SEGA would consider paying for the licenses needed to obtain the rights to use real logos, names, pictures etc. Maybe even make some more money via selling it as an add-on, or a monthly recurring license you pay to use these things.
I may be the only one out there, but ever since it was possible to use packs to make your game better, I have always felt it adding a lot of value.
