  1. Immediately, stats disprove point 1. Which then disproves point 2. I agree that Mainoo should start, he always should have started. And the team shouldn't lose all it's balance to get Foden in.
  2. I think Trippier, Walker or Gomez are gonna slow the pace down - Trippier least of all I'd have thought? Typing that sentence has me in utter disbelief that those are the only options. I don't think somebody like Frimpong is the profile/calibre of player of which we start thinking about making reactive changes to. Players like Mbappe, Leao (Based on Milan vs Newcastle) yes. Trippier could deal with Frimpong as he is very switched on, as could Walker and Gomez. Either way, I was just curious because I've never seen Walker play LB, I've only ever seen him play RB and a couple of games at RCB. Is he though? He's probably the least comfortable on the ball, which is a bit of a problem in a new position. If anything, I'd keep Walker at RB and have TAA on the left, who could then move into midfield - If we were gonna replace Trippier at all.
  3. I've only seen a montage of his on Twitter, what a contrast to the opening game.
  4. If he's looking to press more, Gallagher makes sense IMO. The problem is, and we saw it against Denmark, is that he'd press and leave gaps which led to Denmark opportunities, and that's because he wasn't operating as part of a unit. I'm assuming that Southgate will have noticed this and asked others to move up when a player presses.
  5. I don't believe management will have been at all happy with the Denmark performance, I expect a massive change of attitude from the first whistle. England are the 2nd lowest pressers I believe, something I think they'll address in the next match.
  6. Saw that, wasn't at all impressed. Infact, I think it was disgusting. Bizarre question though, wouldn't Clarke speak to the 4th official if anybody? Perhaps the question was asked with the ref's nationality/languages in mind.
  7. As Shearer said, he's got a right to shield the ball to protect it. At the point of contact, he's not moving towards the defender and it's his ball. We've all played football, if somebody shields the ball from me and I take him down like that, I'm apologizing for being clumsy. The point of shielding is that your body part is in the way of the ball. Like, if you're saying the defender only knees him because his legs in the way - Then that's the argument I would also use That's the defenders responsibility to not knee him as he's running off.
  8. First touch or not, he still goes through Armstrong? Without getting near the ball. His arm is on the defender but only grips once he's been tackled, presumably as a natural reaction to falling.
  9. It's like we just got found out. That was dreadful again tonight. Grateful to be at the Euros but that ending has me gutted.
  10. When he came back from injury, he was a bit stale until the final few games. Before injury, he was our best player this season.
