Over the years i think its been advised that using opposition instructions complicates your tactic (could be wrong).
In Fm23 should i be looking to use these?

This tactic now seems to be serving me better. Thanks for your help with it. Although my results away from home could be better. Any suggestions as to what would work here? Lower the line of engagement, changing WB-A to WB-S?

In previous versions of the game the pre set tactics apparently have not been advisable to use due to too many team instructions i think? Is this still the case in FM23?

Is there anyone out there who’s enjoying this game? Please share your role and tactics. I’ve recently upgraded from FM21 and I can’t get a handle on this game whatsoever. Even when I win games I haven’t enjoyed how we played. If my mentality is too low I have lots of possession but don’t get goals. If my mentality is too high my players shoot from every angle and I have 35 shots with only 10 on target. I don’t get this new double dm pivot thing in a 4231 at all. It’s very frustrating.

This is my usual tactic and line up. The other pic is the 35 shot with only 10 on target. I have most players on shoot less often. Thank you all for your replies. I struggled with both the CM in the DM slot i couldnt find roles that would suit.

Just had a game where i had 34 shots with only 9 on target. Won 1-0 against Cardiff which was a cup replay as i Drew 0-0 at their place as i obviously didnt score. Dialled the mentality down to positive and its still happening loads. To the point where im not enjoying the game at all. Please please please can someone help me its driving me mad.

Could i ask please what you mean by damaging my transitions in terms of the SK-d and BPD please?
Also ive moved the 2 dm into the cm slot as a CM-d and CM-s. In another thread it got recommended i moved them back into the DM slots but not sure what it offers by them being deeper?

What changes would you suggest? In first season with arsenal with no signings if that gives you an idea on the players I have. Thanks for your help,

Having far too many shots from outside the box or too many getting blocked. Most of my players have the 'Shoot less often' instruction ticked as well.
Am i too attacking with my mentality? Never massively liked using 'work ball into box' but should i be?

I’ve noticed not a lot of screenshots of tactics on here. Are they not allowed? Just after an idea of what tactics have been working in arsenal saves.

Will try moving the 2 cm deeper. In FM23 they made changes to many formations and how they work. There might be issues this year with playing the 4-2-3-1 with 2x CM. The default setup would be using 2x DM in this year's iteration of the Game. I would also suggest maximizing tactical familiarity, as it helps your players to play to their full potential.0 -

Usually leave the assignments to chief scout but I like the idea of sending a scout to every country as possible and doing the assignments myself. If I set the time limit to ‘until finished’ I feel like it takes ages for the assignment to be finished. Should it take long?

Any tips to get good possession stats with scoring goals. I’m finding I can get good possession but don’t score many and if I play more direct and faster football I can get goals but not good possession.

So as the title suggests I’m wondering why this happens. A defender clears the ball and one of my players goes for it and instead of seeing it out of play they touch it and gives the opposition a throw in. I noticed this happened a lot in last years edition but I just thought it would get fixed for the new game. It’s still happening. Any reason why?
