  1. I've re-started this, this time I've got Brentford. I was quite surprised to see them down in 19th, with only three points in the bag so far. it certainly shouldn't be difficult to guide them away from relegation. The biggest question is if I can keep hold of Toney, once he returns from his ban, He has interest from Saudi Arabia and Newcastle. A fairly kind run of fixtures to start off with for me;
  2. This is from the FM23 thread, I assume it's the same for this year
  3. Football clubs, like the mighty empires of history, rise and fall during the relentless passage of time. Some clubs have remained a constant feature at the fore of the game for a century or more, cramming yet more silverware into their cabinets year after year. Some have had spells of success before falling upon hard times and seeing their stars fall. Others, it seems, are doomed to forever play the role of supporting cast in the great show. This challenge is for those unfashionable clubs, the perennial also-rans, always the bridesmaid, never the bride types. Challenge Aims - Get your chosen club into the top flight of their nation -Win the national cup -Win the top flight -Guide your club to Champions League Glory! Eligibility Rules - Your club must never have played in the top flight of their nation, This means ever, not just since 1992 if playing in England. - They must never have won a cup competition that is open to top-flight clubs. Lower league cups such as the FA Trophy or Football League Trophy do not count. - To find out the highest division a club has played in, go to their history and open the records tab. If they haven't reached the top before, check their history and make sure they haven't won a top cup before, if they haven't, you're good to go! Other Rules - Reputation and coaching badges are up to you. I would suggest ticking the 'suggest reputation/badges based on club' boxes. -No use of In-game editor and no saving and reloading to gain more favourable results. -You can play in any country that has promotion/relegation, so long as your club meets the eligibility criteria above. -No need to restart if you're sacked, Just wait until one of the other eligible clubs becomes available. -Fell free to combine this with other challenges such as youth academy, big fat goalie, or Dafuge. Eligible clubs 2023/24 England / Wales Championship Plymouth Argyle, Rotherham League One Bristol Rovers, Burton Albion, Cambridge United, Cheltenham Town, Exeter City, Fleetwood Town, Lincoln City, Peterborough United, Port Vale, Shrewsbury Town, Stevenage, Wycombe Wanderers League Two AFC Wimbledon*, Barrow, Colchester United, Crawley Town, Crewe Alexandra, Doncaster Rovers, Forest Green Rovers, Gillingham, Harrogate Town, Mansfield Town, Milton Keynes Dons, Morecambe, Newport County, Salford City, Stockport County, Sutton United, Tranmere Rovers, Walsall, Wrexham *Slightly contentious issue here, Wimbledon did play in the top flight, but technically this is not the same club. National Leagues Anyone except Oldham Athletic I'll add eligible clubs from other countries to this post if the challenge starts to take off. Good luck all
  4. I've decided to explore level ten a bit and give this a try, I've chosen my old hometown club, Sutton United (Not to be confused with the South London club of the same name who are in the National League) United are from Sutton Coldfield in the North of Birmingham, they have been around since 1947 but have always struggled to attract much support due to their proximity to Premier League Aston Villa who drain most of the potential fanbase in the area. There are also several other non-league sides within a five-mile radius in the tiers above United, who further drain support, chiefly NPL side Sutton Coldfield Town who are just half a mile away. United are currently in the Midland Football League - Division One. My profile - Club Information - Initial Squad Media Predictions - Finances The board want us to finish in the top half of the table, which seems a fair and realistic expectation. A run in the FA Vase would be nice, some prize money would help strengthen the club's position. I'm not bothered about the League Cup and will probably use it to rotate and give my fringe players a chance. Initial squad;
  5. A little late answering your question mate, but if you, or anyone else is looking, I highly recommend the FusionDB which makes the Italian lower-leagues playable. Including Serie D, where you can find Victor San Marino in Serie D, Group D.
  6. Wow, I've tried this a few times, and I've never seen Man U in 19th. You definitely have a good shout at completing the challenge with them.
  7. After struggling to settle into a save so far on FM24, I've decided to have another shot at this challenge. Here's my profile; After reloading at least fifty times, I've finally got my local club, Workington Reds, to come up! Initial Squad - Finances - Media Predictions - Club Facilities - Squad Heirarchy Borough Park, near the mouth of the River Derwent. Reds are promoted for the second consecutive season, after winning the NPL D1NW play-offs in 2022/23. Shockingly, they went and did the same thing in the NPL Premier as well. The media has us odds on favourites to finish bottom in the National League North and make an immediate return to the NPL. I will be doing all that I can to ensure that doesn't happen. Finishing 20th or above is my only personal aim for the club this season, and we can build from there next term. The club have been members of the EFL in the past, they spent almost 30 years in the 50s, 60s and 70s, in divisions four and three, achieving their highest ever finish in 1965/66, finishing fifth in the old third division. They were eventually deselected from the league (this was back when there was no promotion and relegation from regional leagues into the EFL, and clubs had to be elected to the league) I would love to return them to the professional ranks eventually. I also want us to finish above Carlisle and Barrow so we can claim to be the best team in Cumbria!
  8. Best of luck with this, I too have struggled to stay motivated during saves this year, leading to several unfinished challenges. Thankfully, I seem to have settled into my Cumbria build a nation now. I like your idea of a using the top 100 countries rather than all 200+, I just can't be bothered with places like Antigua, Aruba and Kiribiti on some partially complete editor data with no badges, graphics or kits. Anyway, best of luck again. I will be following.
  9. Good luck, had some nice visits to Bath in the past, so I've a soft spot for the city.
  10. Interesting, I've not heard of Real Bedford before. Good luck, I do like a good LLM story.
  11. I agree, I love your skin, squad views and the way you lay out your updates. Sad end to the season, but as you say, with a new stadium upcoming hopefully that can be a catalyst to take the next step.
  12. Interesting start, I always enjoy a build a nation story, especially in countries like Costa Rica that you don't see much of in these forums. You're probably right about being eliminated from the Central American cup being a blessing in disguise so you can focus on the league and a strong Apetura.
  13. Tough start, but I reckon you can get enough points on the board to avoid the relegation play-offs and build from there.
  14. Good start with Valencia, I've always had a soft spot for them, many enjoyable FM saves, and they are often my go-to team on FIFA/EAFC. Mostly because I liked the badge and the amazing team they had in the early 00's. Good luck going forwards!
  15. Good luck with Saint Andrau, I've played as them in an older edition of FM and had fun.
  16. Absolutely appaling choice of team, but good luck all the same.😅
  17. 1000 at the moment, do i need to increase it?
  18. Hi all, I've been making a custom nation, turning my home county, Cumbria into a new nation. I overwrite United Ireland and moved Kazakhstan to Asia. I then imported a level 20 database and added the Cumbrian teams from that database to the nation rules I had made. When testing; Qualifying for the World cup and club continental competitions has gone fine, however Cumbria doesn't seem to be entering either the Nations League or Euro 2028 qualifying, Can someone help me fix this please
  19. The Challenge: To travel the length and breadth of Europe, collecting silverware and building your reputation as a tactical genius as you climb the ladder in European football You will need a league megapack to have all 54 European nations available, I recommend THIS ONE by Qwert2. You must start unemployed with Sunday League reputation and with no coaching badges. No cheating - Hopefully that goes without saying, but please disable the in-game editor and no reloading after defeats to get more favourable results. How you set up your database is up to you, I recommend loading all 55 nations but as 'view only' with only the five nations in your current step set to playable. That is entirely up to you though. The Ladder: To Win this challenge, beginning at the bottom in step one, you must complete the eleven steps on the ladder, which are based on the current UEFA coefficient ratings. Each step is made up of five countries. You must win Three of the five top divisions in each step before you may move on and load the next group of five. There is nothing to stop you going for the other two nations in each step if you want to make it even more challenging, but it is not a requirement. Step Eleven England, Spain, Italy, Germany, France Step Ten Netherlands, Portugal, Belgium, Turkey, Czechia Step Nine Scotland, Switzerland, Austria, Norway, Denmark Step Eight Israel, Greece, Ukraine, Serbia, Croatia Step Seven Poland, Cyprus, Hungary, Sweden, Romania Step Six Bulgaria, Azerbaijan, Slovakia, Russia, Slovenia Step Five Moldova, Kosovo, Kazakhstan, Finland, Republic of Ireland Step Four Armenia, Latvia, Faroe Islands, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Liechtenstein* *Liechtenstein's clubs play in Switzerland's system, winning the Liechtensteiner cup will satisfy the challenge. Step Three Iceland, Northern Ireland, Luxembourg, Lithuania, Malta Step Two Georgia, Albania, Estonia, Belarus, North Macedonia Step One Andorra, Wales, Montenegro, Gibraltar, San Marino The very best of luck to all who take part, it's a great challenge that takes you to countries you might never load up on FM otherwise. Let us know how you're getting on below! Leaderboard
  20. I pay little attention to it other than to get an idea of my first starting XI when I first take over a club whose players I don't know. I've had many who have poor ratings who are consistantly brilliant for me. Once I've been at a club a while and know my squad I don't pay attention to the ratings anymore.
  21. I'm going to give this a go, playing as Matlock. I have many happy memories of trips to Matlock and Matlock Bath, so come on the Gladiators!
  22. I'm quite tempted to try this, I did got quite deep into it years back on the Sortitoutsi forum. One question though, is it really necessery to win both the Cymru North & South and the National League North/South seperatley? as they are the same level. Seems like one of each should be enough.
