  1. This has probably been asked and answered a thousand times, but here goes anyway...

I've changed everything about Gibraltar to be a fictional former Soviet state. The city Gibraltar, stadiums, clubs and players have been moved to England. I have then created new cities and so on for my new nation.

The problem is. Quite a lot of the newgens come with English or Spanish names even though I have everything connected to my new nation set with russian language...

    How to fix it?

  2. Hmm. I've set Australia to 9300 and all the clubs between 6500 and 9400 (and lowered the european clubs)... But maybe it's because of the players then. I've deleted all the good players from the DB.

The aussie clubs sign all the best players (generated) in game (tested 10 seasons). Do you think it will go back up? @Wolf_pd

  3. I've made a custom Australian league system loosely based on the aussie rules AFL. In the pre-game editor I've made it the highest reputation league in the world and the cups the highest as well. However after a handful of seasons simulating the reputations drop dramatically (50-60 rep down). Why is that?

I've lowered the rep of all European comps pre-game.

It should be noted that my AFL teams don't qualify for any continental comps, but those have low rep anyway. Does that affect it?

  4. Hi

I have searched the forum and read multiple topics, but can't figure out how I can seed teams so that number 1 from a league stage plays number 8, 2nd plays 7th, 3rd vs 6th and 4th vs 5th.

The league stage and playoff are two separate competitions. I am able to qualify the right teams, but the draw in the first round of the playoffs is always random.

What should I do in the advanced rules?

    Regards, WD

  5. Hi

So I have created a 16 team league (30 matches) that runs from August to January. I have set it so the top 8 qualifies to a cup that runs in February and March (it's basically a championship playoff, but I want it to be a separate competition).

At least it shows in game, that the 8 teams have qualified (both with a "Q" on the league table and on the "qualifiers" page on the cup.

The problem is the cup never starts (not the first year and not a year offset).

    - What can I do?

    - Can I qualify teams for a "(separate competition) championship playoff" in any other way?

    Best regards,

    WD

  6. Hi, hoping to find an editor guru out there, who might be able to help me.

    Long post ahead...

My custom league system is verified and playable in the basic rules, but when I convert it to advanced rules to make a few changes there are suddenly multiple errors. So far I have had the following errors:
1st error) "Promoted and relegated teams do not match up for NSL3 (2 relegated) and NSL4 (1 promoted) (extra teams requested = 0)" (and something similar for NSL4 <-> NSL5 and NSL5 <-> NSL6)
NOTE: Promotion and relegation works in the basic rules.

I think I am able to iron it out - at least it pops up with different error after a few changes to promotions/relegations in the advanced rules.

2nd error) "Wrong number of qualified teams (15) found for competition (16 required)"
I don't know what to do about this one and it puzzles me, because I have no competitions with 16 teams. Only 24 and 26 - see below for my league system explained.

Some info about my DB that might help understanding/solving the problem.

Custom American DB with 322 teams.

    League structure:

    1) National Soccer League (26 teams, 50 games, 2 teams relegated) (also 8 teams in championship playoff - I will come back to that, as I have a question for this too*)

    2) NSL2 (26 teams, 50 games, 2 teams promoted and 2 relegated)

    3) NSL3 (26 teams, 50 games, 2 teams promoted and 2 relegated)

    4) NSL4 (52 teams, 2 groups, 50 games, 2 teams promoted and 8 relegated)

    5) NSL5 (96 teams, 4 groups, 46 games, 8 teams promoted and 16 relegated)

    6) NSL6 (96 teams, 4 groups, 46 games, 16 teams promoted)

Then I have a secondary divisions structure as follows: (but I don't think that influences anything?)

15 regional premier leagues with 10 teams each (18 games, 2 relegated from each)

    15 regional 2nd leagues with 10 teams each (one with 12) (18 (22) games, 2 promoted)

1 regional league 3 and 4 (California...) with 10 teams each.

Finally I have a main FA cup with all 322 teams and a super cup with the winner from NSL and the main cup.

As I said. ALL works fine in game, when I use the basic rules.

    BUT...

The reason I want to use the advanced rules:

1st) I want to eliminate draw games and make all league games go into golden goal and then penalties - I know how to do this in the advanced rules.

2nd) I want the playoff games from the NSL (see above*) to be played at neutral stadiums (as it does with the basic rules), but with a minimum capacity of 60.000 (basic rules = even small stadiums of 2.000 used = not good!) - Again, I think I know how to do this in the advanced rules.

Can I do these two things in any other way than by using the advanced rules? Maybe by editing the .xml files?

If you are still reading. Thank you. I hope I wrote every detail... And I hope someone can help me :)

I should add that I am playing FM19 and using the FM19 editor if that has any relevance.

  7. Hi

I'm currently trying to make an American league system with inspiration from NBA and NFL in the advanced rules editor. But I have one problem.

I would like to have no teams from my league qualify for the CONCACAF Champions League. I don't care if American (or Canadian) teams from lower divisions qualify as long as none of the 32 teams in my "NFL" league does.

In the "Competition" tab I have ticked the box in "Continental Cup Qualification" and chosen "No team qualifies" but to no avail.

    Is it even possible?

  8. Okay, so it looks like I've finally been able to get rid of the salary cap as every contract is $0 in salary cap impact. However I'm still not able to offer better contracts. Thought I could get around that by upping the number of Designated players, but I can't seem to figure out how. It doesn't work when I change it in "Squad Selection Deadlines -> Squad Selection Rules"...

Has anybody succeeded in allowing more Designated players?

adjusting the wage cap is cool, but does it change the contracts, they are hard coded as well probably. so u can have a 10 million budget but the most u can pay a senior player is capped.

    Well. It seems you're right...

I tried to set wage cap to $150m and it looks right on the league rules, but in finances it's still $4m as usual - and I can't offer higher wages either.

  10. So it seems I've found a way to increase the salary cap as it's now $10m.

In advanced rules go to "Fixture rules" -> "Rules 0" -> "Squad Selection Deadline Dates" -> click to see details for the first row -> go to "Squad Selection Rules" -> change "Annual Wage (MLS Capped)..." to "Annual Wage" and set cash value to $10m.

Then do the same for row numbers 2 and 3 in "Squad Selection Deadline Dates".

The real life Salary Cap is something like $4.25M this season. As for making a different version, I'm not sure I would be able to without breaking a lot of the MLS transfer system. SI really teased us on that front by making a lot of those MLS squad rules visible (Designated Players, MLS International Players, etc). However, it seems no matter what I set them at in the fixture rules in the editor everything remains default in-game. So apparently it's hard-coded. Overriding the nation rules makes all of those things able to be edited, but if I do that then the MLS transfer system is gone. Meaning, no trades, no allocation money, no acquiring draft picks (and I didn't test far enough to see if the drafts even still work), etc. That should also kind of answer your second question, as well. Any overriding of the US nation rules appear to remove the trade system.

Thanks for your answer. Maybe I should try to mess around with the rules and stuff and see what happens.

It's annoying SI doesn't allow us to edit those things and actually make it work.

  12. First of all - incredible work!

I was wondering what the salary cap of the MLS is? I find the (real life) salary cap to be an obstacle for MLS to be a world class league - I would like to make MLS the best league in the (FM) world - like NBA or NFL in real life, but that's impossible with the current salary cap.. Is it possible that you can make a different version with a much higher cap - or just describe how I can do it myself (I have some advanced editor experience...)

Also I have another question. Would it be possible to create a new US league structure from scratch with the editor that includes the MLS (with draft and trades), 1 development league and NCAA? (Again, NBA inspired..)

Looking forward to your next update, which I will check out in-game as well as in the editor.

    Best regards
