I haven't bought since 2021. I have felt like the game has went in the opposite direction that I have wanted it to go, so I can't justify buying it anymore. Having to baby sit grown men gets on my nerves combined with players asking for new contracts even when they have multiple years left on their current contracts. It feels like SI have tried to make the game harder by making the game much more annoying. On top of that the AI can't do basic things like rotate a squad. This was the one issue they addressed in FM 24 Beta and they never managed to address it in FM 24. Then there is the fact that AI managing your youth squad is either ruining your youth players or core systems in FM don't work. For instance either match time for young players doesn't matter in their development or the AI is keeping your players from reaching their potential. Either rotating your squad and managing condition doesn't matter or the AI should barely be able to field a squad by the end of the year/is constantly risking injuring your young players. Maybe it's because these things aren't in the console version and they are concentrating all their efforts on that because that's where all their revenue comes from.

This is nuts. Players get mad if other players are left out of the Match selection. Sometimes a player will get mad about not being selected even if they are injured or tired or low condition. IF they managed to make it this far in professional football one would think they wouldn't be crying because their BFF wasn't picked for a match or that you didn't waste a roster spot on an injured player.

Buying an older football manager , potential issues
Damedius replied to Ddux's topic in Football Manager General Discussion
You can only buy 24 and 25 on Steam right now. So your only options for older copies are either a physical copy or a steam key reseller. I did a quick search for keys and some of them are pricey depending on which version you want. -
I think you are giving far too much credit to the AI. You are suggesting that an AI that can't properly rotate it's squad has somehow managed to effectively counter your tactic.
-
Often it's just your players forgetting how to play football. Every so often your team forgets how to play. I'm assuming because of complacency. If it was just one or two players then I could see consistency. but when your whole team forgets to show up.

I just had one of those games. Absolutely dominated by a relegation team. Lost 4-0, with 3 first half injuries, one of which is a 2 month injury to my goalkeeper who dislocated his shoulder. Good times. Never fear the top team in the league, be scared of the relegation teams.

Unreasonable Contract Demands
Damedius replied to Damedius's topic in Football Manager General Discussion
It's a lot easier to deal with when it happens throughout the year one at a time. It feels awful when it happens all at the same time at the end of one season.. For instance my MK Dons save where I had 7-8 players ask for more than I could afford after being promoted to the Championship league. I also don't know if this is true but it seems like it might be programmed that players ask for new contracts if there is any money in your wage budget. I have been trying to be slightly over budget in my current save and it seems to be much better. -

What is your financial situation? Is the team in the red or do you have a few hundred million? -
Unreasonable Contract Demands
Damedius replied to Damedius's topic in Football Manager General Discussion
Depends on the player doesn't it? If he has lots of friends they might become concerned. The game seems very unrealistic in that players care about the contracts of other players and ask for new contracts every year. I have never seen in this in the real world. I have never seen players talk about the contracts of other players or ask for a new contract less than a year into their new contract. -
offering contracts needs to be fixed
Damedius replied to awesomeboyplays132's topic in Football Manager General Discussion
This is why I wish they would just remove these things that they put in to add artificial difficulty. Inevitably they fail to take into account a lot of things. Like I should know what the players demands are in advance. I want to know if he is going to have outrageous demands, like a squad player asking for play time as if he were an important player.. Or to be played in a role my tactic doesn't use. Instead I have to agree to it blind or risk a team wide mutiny. Additionally a player shouldn't be able to ask for a new contract if he has more than 2 years left on his current contract. -
I've always found it more bizarre when people claim that a game made with scripts isn't scripted.. As to why SI would script the game against players. To make it more challenging. People might get bored a lot quicker if they won every game all season long. If SI didn't want to script the game against players. Then why do players ask for new contracts when still have 2 or more years on their current contract? Why do squad players ask for contracts far above what they are worth, asking to be Important Players, played in specific positions and specific roles. Even in positions that aren't used in the current tactics or in positions the player was previously used in the club. If I had to guess it's easier to do than to program the AI to competently rotate a squad. Something we brought up in beta. Yet here we are when FM 25 should be released and my U-18 Manager still can't do nor can the opposition I face in the league.

Counter attacking works both ways. If they are counter attacking then they can be counter attacked. I find many times with these losses to teams hovering in the relegation area that several things can happen. Sometimes your whole team just mysteriously plays bad. Maybe the the game is scripted in order to make complacency matter much more than it should. To the extent that a team in regulation can beat a team at the top of the table. Other times they just get lucky. In that you you get lots of chances but you hit posts and then they get a late goal on the one chance that they do get.

You are going to get people that say that it isn't scripted. It;s obviously scripted, it's a video game. The question isn't whether or not it's scripted. It's a question of how it's scripted.

Unreasonable Contract Demands
Damedius replied to Damedius's topic in Football Manager General Discussion
I think the biggest frustration when dealing with this is that there aren't any proper responses for you when this happens. I can't say, well playing you in that role or position would compromise the team. If the player insisted, then I should be able to respond with something like "Well I'll find you a team that will give you what you want since you clearly won't find it here." If feels half baked. Like they are trying to make the game artificially difficult but it comes across as very annoying. I quit my save and started a new one after because I don't want to deal with it. I imagine if it happens again in the same way in this new save,, I'll end up taking a long break from FM. -
Just to clarify it's the German National Teams that are greyed out.
-
So I started a new save as HSV and noticed that all the National teams are grey. I did a quick search and found out that this has been a bug in the game since beta and seems to have never been fixed. It's kind of disappointing given how Germany is a major nation in Football.

FM 25 DEVELOPMENT UPDATE

Does that mean that they took a big hit this year? They paid for licensing but had no or very little revenue to show for it. -
Unreasonable Contract Demands
Damedius replied to Damedius's topic in Football Manager General Discussion
This is the problem. SI have made parts of the game annoying and unejoyable. You have players that asking for contracts for much more than they are worth. My wage budget is 150k/week. Players are asking for 10-15/week. I can't afford to sign a team full of players asking for that much. Especially when the majority are nowhere near good enough to get paid that much. -
Unreasonable Contract Demands

Is this your personal experience from managing football teams? Have you managed a club where half the team thought they were managers and tried to tell you how to manage the team? After winning promotion I had 3 more players ask for new contracts and they all want to be the important players playing in specific positions in specific roles. Are you just supposed to rebuild the team every year? How are you supposed to build a team that you keep together for more than a season or two when they all ask for new contracts with stipulations that would ruin the team? -
So I went to resign 4 players from my team near the end of the season. 3 of the 4 want to all be important players and play a lot. They also want to play in specific positions and in specific roles. 1 wants to play in a position I don't use in my formations and the other wants to play in a position I have never used him in. This is supposed to be a game we enjoy playing. Why is the game like this?
-
You should be able to find people who will sign by going into staff search and ticking only U-19.

That's not the problem with the NBA 2K series. The problem with NBA2k is that they slow down progression to try and force players to spend real world money to improve your player. That's right, the game is designed in order to encourage players to spend real world money to improve their players attributes. Imagine the outrage if developing players was slowed down to a fraction of what it currently is and you had to pay real money in order to get your players to improve faster. The only changes they do seem to make is to the My Player Career mode. Every year it's an awful story with boring cut scenes and cheesy lines. On top of that there have been versions where you can't skip certain parts of the story so you are forced to watch it again and again.

I would be happy if they just improved the existing features in the game. I would go further and say I would like a lot of these features removed if they can't improve them. I find the game has had the same issues every year for years. I would much rather these were addressed and made better than adding more features.

Locker room revolt
Damedius replied to vincenzo incendio's topic in Football Manager General Discussion
Unfortunately this is the case with many of these interactions. In FM 23 a player got mad because I signed a new player. Got mad because he was worried about playing time. He then proceeds to complain to the team. Have to hold meeting to address it. Luckily they all backed down when I said I had to manage the whole team. However I was this close to a mutiny just because I signed a new player. I'm not really sure what SI thinks that these interactions add to the game. I'm not sure why they don't improve them and give you more options to deal with these situations, like putting the player on the transfer list if he isn't happy where he is. I personally think that a lot of this actually takes away from the game as whole, both because they aren't realistic in how they play out and the frequency with which they occur. -
You could try loaning him out or giving him spot minutes when you can on your first team to increase his growth. I find the AI doesn't really make the best use of the loans I give them but maybe I'm just unlucky.
