not sure how it works in the m.e. but logically -
right footed player on the left flank - if he puts the ball to the right foot before cutting inside - he will potentially have more space to use as he gets away from the opponent (assuming the opponent is in front and not behind him).
however, if he does it when running down the flank, he will actually go closer to the opponent so he better have very good technique, dribbling, agility, acceleration because it is quite risky move.
in short, it is contextual and not necessary good or bad. in general, most of player prefered moves are quite inadequate as they are frequently more of tactical instruction than player prefered move. at least in my opinion.
