f0rmat Posted February 16, 2010 Share Posted February 16, 2010 Sidnei Rechel da Silva Junior, simply Sidnei (born June 23, 1989 in Alegrete), is a Brazilian footballer currently playing with Sport Lisboa e Benfica, as a central defender. Sidnei started playing professionally with Sport Club Internacional, being part of the side that conquered the 2007 South American Supercup. On July 24, 2008 he signed a five-year contract with S.L. Benfica, who paid €5 million for 50% of his sports rights. During his first season in Portugal, he was used intermittently, but still managed to appear in 24 league matches and net three times on important occasions, including the 2–0 derby home win against Sporting Clube de Portugal, on September 27, 2008. In June 2009, Benfica bought another 20% of Sidnei's sports rights, for €2 million. I've just signed him from Benfica for £8m to rotate in my Valencia side in 2010.
