ibra8
Are the Portuguese feeling confident about this World Cup? I think that there are mix feelings between those who think that we can get to the final and others, that think that it will take a miracle for that to happen. I put myself in the second category, as i don't belive we'll be 1st in the group, wich means that Spain, in normal circumstances, is going to be our opponent in the knock out phase. Considering that at this moment Spain is on another level, i reckon we'll only have a chance to defeat them if we make a hell of a exhibition, specially Ronaldo. aggressive minor
With Nani coming along so nicely, Portugal are going to be pretty threatening down the wings.

Crazy_T
do you want a guy that says he has no feelings for portugal, nothing to do with it, has represented france at almost every level and can't even speak the language (!) in your team? domenech should call him up and get it over with. then drop him. Indaro
Tough choice. He doesn't speak Portuguese which puts him behind the Brazilians, and yet he's first generation Portuguese which would put him way ahead.
Crazy_T
Why does it matter if he has no feelings for the team unless he does a professional job? was just wondering what people who do feel for the country and the team thought about it.
Tom14
I suppose the Portuguese don't mind Deco being in the squad and he has no link to Portugal other than living in Portugal for 6 six years thus earning him the right to a Portuguese passport.
Indaro
Portugal has a long history of having national team players who weren't born in Portugal, far more than people think. Not sure what their opinions were. Tempted to say pick him just to **** France off later.
Crazy_T
well on the other hand I'm sure you'll find people taking issue with players representing their national team despite having no affiliation the their country.
ibra8
He would be welcome if he hadn't refused our first approach. This attitude shows that he is only interested to promote himself and since he can't do it in the French team, he turned to the 2nd option. For this i would not want him representing our nation. The fact that he can't speak portuguese or the little knowledge about the country wouldn't be an issue for me, since he wouldn't be the first, Daniel Fernandes, Amaury Bischoff or Manuel da Costa are examples of players in the exact same situation. PMLF
If Kevin Gameiro has Portuguese parents, it's fair enough to call him up, much more than naturalized players, but in this specific case since he refused to play for Portugal before, it's humiliating to now give him a chance only because he realized he won't play for France. ibra8
So, we will basically have to rely in our 11 first choices through the tournament and hope for a super Ronaldo. Indaro
I can actually understand only having one out of Almeida and Makakula, but we needed someone similar to Liedson incase he can't play.
ANDEHLSON
Tiago and Simao . Bleh. So, we will basically have to rely in our 11 first choices through the tournament and hope for a super Ronaldo. Six center backs and 2 strikers for a team that, according to Queirós wants to reach the semis.Picking players like Ricardo Costa, Beto, Daniel Fernandes, Rolando, Zé Castro, Duda. Zé Castro will be a defensive midfielder... Beto isn't a bad goalie so could understand that one but leaving Rui Patricio and Quim out and choose Daniel Fernandes... Duda might be sentimentalism.. After all he did play through most of the qualifying stages... But Ruben Amorim out, and Rolando instead of Carriço ffs.. Time to play like Real Madrid! ibra8
Zé Castro will be a defensive midfielder... After all he did play through most of the qualifying stages... But Ruben Amorim out, and Rolando instead of Carriço ffs.. Time to play like Real Madrid! Don't remember Zé Castro ever playing there, at least in Académica. Beto played 3/4 games this season, the gk should be Eduardo, Quim and Patricio but in this case i don't see a real problem since Eduardo will be the 1st choice. Duda playing has lb is a complety joke, he simply dosen't know how to play there. Besides Ruben Amorim and Carriço i can think also of Nunes(Mallorca), Makukula and a backup for Deco, Nuno Assis or Carlos Martins.
ANDEHLSON
Ze Castro played as defensive midfielder in the qualifiers or in a friendly.. He is supposed to be Pepe's substitute.. Still can't figure out why Queiroz loves switching positions.. Hugo Almeida as left winger (will he repeat it? ), Duda as LB, Pepe as DM... Now just gotta hope for 3-4 players to get injured..
ibra8
Hugo Almeida playing as left winger was the craziest/dumbest thing i saw in the last years.

ibra8
Pretty much, the only field positions where changes can happen are the fullbacks and in the midfield if Pepe is fully fit in the 1st game, getting into Mendes or Veloso spot.

PMLF
another "fantastic" performance .. is it wrong to hate your own national team? No, it isn't. ibra8
Not bad, defensively he doesn't have much work as you might guess.
