Macallan
With all the provisional squads given there are players who will not be at the WC because they were not selected by their coach. It's always fun to make a team out of these players that would easily compete at the WC. Ruud Van Nistelrooy Karim Benzema Javier Zanetti Esteban Cambiasso Nasri Gabriel Milito Fernando Gago Totti Toni

hilly_boro
Suppose Vieira would still count as big name. Cambiasso, Zanetti, Milito & Gago out .... but Coloccini and Gutierrez in  Quite funny reading that Maradona has called up over 100 players in a year and a half in charge

tcoleman1
We will have Cambiasso then. Better than Barry and possibly Hargreaves at his best tbf. Did he not end up scoring goal of the tournament last world cup or one before? Cannot believe he has left him out his teams. Nutter.
UTT
He hasn't played under Maradona so not surprising tbh. Maradona clearly doesn't like him. vs Spain November 2009, he was in the squad then
PMLF
From Marca, best 11 to miss this WC (although some may be in the backup lists, like Marcelo and Gaúcho): Diego Alves, Bridge, Zanetti, Milito, Marcelo, Cambiasso, Vieira, Diego, Ronaldinho, Pato and Benzema I don't know why they included Diego Alves on the list, probably just because he plays in Spain, but there are other better Brazilian goalies who missed the WC. Diego Alves is good too though, and hopefully will move a big team this European Summer.

paperclips
You're joking? Yes i am. We will have Cambiasso then. Better than Barry and possibly Hargreaves at his best tbf. Did he not end up scoring goal of the tournament last world cup or one before?Cannot believe he has left him out his teams. Nutter. Just because they are not in the 30, does this mean they can not be in the final 23? Well you no what Maradona is like.
PMLF
Just because they are not in the 30, does this mean they can not be in the final 23? Yes, it does. The final list of 23 will be made by removing 7 players from the 30 player list. So someone like Diego has zero chances of getting a place in the WC now. RubenJ
We will have Cambiasso then. Better than Barry and possibly Hargreaves at his best tbf. Did he not end up scoring goal of the tournament last world cup or one before?Cannot believe he has left him out his teams. Nutter. that goal of the tournament wasn't just his goal though, it was the 20+ pass build-up that made the goal so great. iirc Cambiasso nearly cocked up the finish as well. (I'm not arguing he should be in the squad btw)

PMLF
The organizers aren't happy about the absence of Ronaldinho in Brazil's final 23-player list: Jordaan chides Dunga for leaving out Ronaldinho(AP) – 6 hours ago JOHANNESBURG — The head of South African World Cup organizers has criticized Brazil coach Dunga for leaving Ronaldinho off Brazil's roster, saying some coaches are "blinded" by a sense of power. Danny Jordaan said Wednesday that Ronaldinho is a "soccer genius" who had talents "enjoyed by few in the game, both past and present." Ronaldinho will only play in South Africa if there are injuries to other players. Dunga selected the two-time FIFA player of the year as a backup and omitted him from his 23-man roster Tuesday. Jordaan said it was it was "sad and unfortunate" that the tournament would suffer without Ronaldinho, and that someone of Dunga's experience should have selected the AC Milan midfielder "as a matter of course." Ricky Riccardo
Cambiaso and Ronaldinho are the biggest shocks to me
hilly_boro
Jordaan just thinking about the ££ then Ronaldinho has been pretty poor this season and Dunga hasn't picked him consistently so no real surprise there, I'm sure PMLF will know last time he was selected. Cambiasso again has been picked inconsistently by Maradona. Only reason I was shocked by this earlier was because didn't know Maradona had been leaving him out of previous squads. PMLF
So it would of been more of a surprise if he had been included in Brazil squad ? Yes, following Dunga's MO he shouldn't have been included, but the whole backup list is weird with other players he normally wouldn't have included like Chelsea's Alex (not called up since the Conf Cup, which he missed due to a surgery), Marcelo (similar situation to Ronaldinho, last time was in March 2009) and Paulo Henrique (never called up before, although played the last U-20 WC).
