Hershie
Apologies if there's already a thread. Can someone with a more geographical/physicsy/mathsy mind please explain these to me? :o For instance, according to wikipedia a town's located at: 34°56′47″N 33°2′41″E How do I put this into FM? Would it be as 34.56 / 33.20, or 34.47 / 33.41? or something else?

Hershie
ah right thanks. Overlooked them cause it looked rather daunting. Where do these decimals come from?
Hershie
Just realised I should've asked earlier. Got 60 or so to go through and fix.
sporadicsmiles
There are two different ways here of splitting up a degree into smaller units - using minutes (') and seconds ('') or using decimals. The conversion comes from the fact that there are only 60 minutes in a degree, but there are 100 (assuming 2 decimal places) smaller units in the decimal system. Not that I am sure anyone would be actually interested in how this works, but is always nice to learn new things (and to promote maths) so here is a link to converting geographical coordinates to various forms on wikipedia.
