matthew.doherty
i want to set runs onto players so that they run forward when the team is in possesion, i can remember doing this on 2008 but i cant remember how to do it
StevoRobbo
Its all to do with your teams mentality and playing style. If you play with an attacking mentality, players will naturally get forward. If you play with a defensive defensive, players will look to hold back and stay in position. Try the Tactics & Training Tips forum. There are a lot of good threads in there describing out tactics and settings work in detail. You can learn a lot there

PhroX
Having players change position when they're in possesion can't be done in the same manner as in '08 and earlier. The arrows were removed as they resulted in unrealistic and exploitative behaviour. Nowadays, as StevoRobbo said, players will change position when in possesion based on mentality. Also, there is a setting "Runs From Deep", which will affect how often they will attempt to make attacking runs from their standard position. If you use the Tactic Creator, then runs are set automatically based on the players role and duty. If you go into the advanced mode, you can manually set them. I keep getting a hint thing while the game is processing about shifting player runs about, it tells ye to hold shift and left drag the arrows to change a player's run, is this just a leftover from before the arrows were removed then? StevoRobbo
You can have arrows if you make a Classic Tactic instead of the Tactic Creator
Cougar2010
You can have arrows if you make a Classic Tactic instead of the Tactic Creator Arrows are there but they don't show runs anymore and haven't done for a while. They now show frequency of forward runs.
StevoRobbo
Yes. I was just saying there are still arrows in the tactics.

I really wish they'd just take them out completely, as all the do these days is confuse people (there's been a couple of near-identical threads in the last week over in T&TT). But yeah as others have said, all the arrows do these days is provide a visual representation of the RFD (formerly FWR) slider. The old functionality of giving players a different position depending on who has possesion is long gone.
