dinamo_zagreb Posted December 1, 2010 Share Posted December 1, 2010 This is my most serious advanced panel work by now. I have revamped CONCACAF's continental competition, called Gold Cup. Now, it has little bit bigger reputation (95-11), and has 16 teams in finals. But, most important fact is that there are qualifiers included. Also, there is Caribbean Championship deleted - it is actually transformed into Gold Cup qualifiers. -40 CONCACAF members take part in qualifiers -8 groups of 5 teams each. -couble round-robin syste -top two teams qualify to final tournament, held in USA, in June/July of 2012, 2016 etc. -4 groups of 4 teams -quarters -semis -final, held on Meadowlands in New York. Sure those comps could be edited. There is just one little problem. You can't get host to have direct berth in final tournament, so host has to go through qualifiers. But that is something I can get over with. I was thinking to, after playing with CONCACAF nations, start remaking World Cup, and maybe to decrease it from 32 to 16 teams in finals. I would not do Gold Cup every TWO years, as there would not be enogh time to schedule all matches, both WC qualifiers and GC qualifiers. Would be much fixture congestion. Now I edited new competition, compatible with 11.3. preliminary - 24 teams - knock-out, winners go through (played in August 2010) group stage - 12 prelim teams + 12 new teams - 24 teams total, in 6 groups of 4, group winners qualify (played September 2010 (2), October 2010 (2) and March 2011 (2)) Gold Cup - 6 teams qualified + USA and Mex - 8 teams total in two groups, top two from each make new group of 4, group winner wins Gold Cup. Only problem, I was not able to solve, is fact that red card in Qualifiers works only for the game player got it - like in basketball, after 5/6 fouls player is banned from playing just in that specific game, but he can play next one.
