But Denmark defeated STI icon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gificon14.gif with Enevoldsen in the national team icon_razz.gif how are Danish players doing in the game BTW?

The Danish team is ranked 18th at present (just above STI). As usual, Agger and Bendtner are the two biggest Danish stars. Bendtner has an incredible record of 28 goals in 32 internationals but an injury has kept him out of the Arsenal first team. Thomas Kahlenberg has just made a big money move to Sunderland. Simon Kjaer (one of my favourite youth players to develop in FM 08 icon_wink.gif) has just moved to Gimnastic in Spain following a few years at Sparta Prague. Are there any other players in particular you want the lowdown on? </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

If they're in the game how about Klaus Lykke (D/M C) and Rasmus Nielsen (D/WB/AM R)? icon_biggrin.gif

Thanks icon14.gif

Sunderland down in 17th icon_frown.gif

Le Quack has played 6 games averaging 6.83 icon_razz.gif and has a 29% pass succession rate icon_eek.gif

He's got 18 caps icon14.gif

Your questions answered:

Whitehead - Adam Flash is now 23.

Blackcats - Pablo Gonzaléz is kept company in Capital City by the goalkeeper Jack Harrow. They are the only two original NTI players left at the club. Merchants also have one STI player, Adam Wilkinson. Following the re-siging of Rtik, Cove Bay have one original STI player as well as Adam Flash, who, despite being a Northerner, began his career there. Cove Bay currently have two regens in the STI national side along with one naturalised player (but more on that later icon_wink.gif.

AB-Forever - sorry, those two are not in the game. A grand total of 70 Danish players show up on the player search at present.

Taken the game up to April now but then realised I forgot to do a round-up of the transfer activity at Cove Bay and Merchants. icon_rolleyes.gif

Cove Bay Pirates: Cove Bay Transfer Summary

Following thier December slump in the league, Pirates boss Ten Cate looked to bring in some defenders and spent big with 17mil to bring in 3 players. The return of Rtik will have delighted many Cove Bay fans and the signing of regen Van Der Berg from local club Robin Hood looks good for the future too. Experienced Ukranian defender Andriy Rusol and the Paraguayan

Marcos Caceres should help shore up the defence a bit.

Capital City Merchants: Merchants Transfer Summary

January was more about who left than who came in for The Merchants. The sales of da Silva Santos and Boyle to Ajax at this stage in the season certainly caused much displeasure amongst the Capital City crowd. One striker, Ciprian Deac, was brought in but he hasn't featured much so far. Yet another promising talent from Eastern Europe was found as Anton Sosnin came in on the cheap from Zenit St. Petersburg. I guess the Merchants are showing their business guile as they have made a profit of 21mil in the transfer market this season (compared to Cove Bay's loss of 30.5mil).

International Update: February/March Friendlies

The two friendlies played served as final preparation games for both nations ahead of the Gold Cup but produced disappointing results.

Northern Treasure Islands 0 Belgium 2

NTI Ratings and Stats - despite the result, congratualtions are in order for Emilio Peralta, who made his NTI debut in this game.

Northern Treasure Islands 0 Poland 2

NTI Ratings & Stats

Holland 3 Southern Treasure Islands 0

STI Ratings & Stats - an interesting development here as Patrick Nayarko made his debut, the Ghanain having just received his STI passport two months earlier.

Trinidad & Tobago 3 Southern Treasure Islands 0

STI Ratings & Stats

Bizarrely, both nations lost by the same scoreline in each of their matches and both had the same number of shots in each match - cue accusations of SI's 'lazy AI' and matches being determined by rep and not skill icon_wink.gif

Supporters on both sides of the Islands will be hoping their national sides can get it all together ahead of the Gold Cup, speaking of which:

Gold Cup 2011 Draw

NTI seem to have the easier group on paper but I'm sure both teams will be confident of progressing, especially with the two best 3rd placed teams going through.

Rivals Clash: Capital City Merchants v. Cove Bay Pirates (Dutc Premier Division)

Date: 02.04.11

Venue: Capital City Stadium

Coming into the game, Merchants were sitting in 3rd and looking to take a step closer to entering the play-off for a Champions League spot. Cove Bay were back in 6th and looking to hold on to a play-off position. Those concerns resulted in a tight, cagey game with both teams trying not to take risks. Ultimately, the poor accuracy of the Cove Bay strikers cost them as the only managed 2 shots on goal all game. The game was ettled by a penalty at the end of the first half as Pablo Gonzaléz was tripped just inside the area. Former Cove Bay player Adam Wilkinson then earned himself a 'Judas' tag by scoring from the spot.

Final Score: Capital City Merchants 1 Cove Bay Pirates 0

How They Rated

That win means Merchants have done the double over their rivals in the league this season. I will post the head-to-head record once the lay-offs are done as there is still a chance they may meet there.

European Leagues Update

The Dutch regular season has now finished and the play-offs beckon so it's time for a look at all the leagues in Europe as the season reaches its conclusion.

Dutch Premier Division - Congrats to the boys at PSV who get Championship medlas. Merchants had a bad run towards the end of the season but 5th is enough to enter the play-off for a Champions League spot, where they will face Ajax. Cove Bay finish 6th and will play NEC in the first round of the UEFA Cup play-offs.

Dutch 1st Division - Heinrich Kroeger needs to move on methinks!

Belgian 1st Division

English Premier League - looking good for Liverpool.

French Ligue 1 - Congrats to Rebel Israel whose Lyon side have already secured the title.

German Bundesliga - the tightest league I've ever seen: 6 points cever the top 9 with 2 games left! icon_eek.gif

Italian Serie A - although he's yet to play, Eduaddo's move to AC Milan means the Italian table is included in the round-up for the first time.

Spanish Liga - looks like Bob McBob has some work to do at Sevilla!

Play-Off Reports, Final League Tables and Season Summary to follow!

A lot to go over here! icon_biggrin.gif

icon14.gif Roseau is wanted by Chelski! Who'd have thought, eh?

icon14.gif Capital City signed Sosnin, who I think is brilliant. I signed him for my Sparta Rotterdam team and although he is a little moody, he has done brilliantly for us. Should be a cracker signing.

icon14.gif We're in the Gold Cup! Nice icon_biggrin.gif

icon13.gificon14.gif Marseille won't get the league title, but it looks like we'll be back in the Champions League, which is where we belong!

Dutch League, 2010-11 European Places Play-Off

1st Round

Well, Cove Bay's campaign didn't last very long as they went down 2-1 at home to NEC and then only amanged a draw in the return match. As they finished outside the top 5, that meant their play-off chances were gone. No European football at World's End next season. icon_frown.gif

The Merchants also suffered a first round lost as the were beaten by Ajax. A comendable 0-0 draw in the first match as the Amsterdam ArenA was wasted as they went down 2-0 at home in the second game. That meant the Merchants had no chance of reaching the Champions League and would now join the teams battling for the UEFA Cup spots.

European Places Play-Off 1st Round Results

2nd Round

Merchants opponents for the next round were Heerenveen. The first leg was an absolute disaster as the Capital City club lost 2-0 in front of their own fans. That meant there was a lot of work to do in the 2nd leg. An early goal gave the Merchantmen hope but a second goal proved elusive and the aggregate score stayed at 2-1 to Heerenveen.

European Places Play-Off 2nd Round Results

Third Round

Two rounds of defeat had resulted in the Merchants going from Champions League hopefuls to scrapping it out with Feyenoord for a final UEFA Cup spot. Another first leg at home, another 2-0 defeat. That's three home defeats0- of 2-0 in the play-off competition! icon_eek.gif Another tall order for the return leg, which couldn't be achieved. A 1-1 draw resulted in a 3-1 aggregate defeat and means the Merchants will have to try their luck in the Intertoto Cup next season.

2010-11 Season Round-Up Part 1: European Leagues & Awards

All the leagues have now fiished and the European qualifiers for next season have been decided.

Dutch Premier Division Final Table - A disappointing end to the season then as the Merchants could only secure an Intertoto spot and Cove Bay missed out altogether.

Congrats though to Haowan, who won the Premier Division Player Of The Year award and also to Robert Boyle, who took home the Top Scorer Award (and that despite not being a regular at Ajax - who knows how many he could have scored had he stayed at the Merchants). Pablo Gonzaléz deserves a nod for coming second too.

Belgian FÄ°rst Division Final Table

English Premier League Final Table

French Ligue 1 Final Table

German Bundesliga Final Table

Italian Serie A Final Table

Spanish La Liga Final Table

Congrats to Spud, Ben Roscrow and Nathaniel Ball, who all get Premeir League winner's medals with Liverpool. Unfortunately for them, they missed out on the Champions League Final as it clashed with the start of the Gold Cup. icon_frown.gif Ben Rocrow gets the consolation of winning the Champions League Best Goal vote however.

Diego Polo could opnly watch from the bench as RC Lens lost out in the UEFA Cup Final meaning he picks up a runners-up medal.

Congratualtions once more to Robert Boyle, whose fantastic early season form at the Merchants and goals for Ajax helped him secure the European Golden Boot. A great goalscoring year for the Merchants saw Pablo Gonzaléz take 3rd spot too. icon14.gif

2010-11 Season Round-Up Part 2: Player Profiles (NTI)

These are the players who know what makes good business sense. icon_wink.gif

Alfonso da Silva Santos - was playing well for the Merchants with 19 appearances and a rating of 6.95 before Ajax made a successful 5.5mil bid in January. Quickly secured his spot in the first team at his new club.

Emilio Peralta - a breakthrough year for the youngster as he became a key member of the Standard team and broke into the national side as well. His good form has attracted the interest of AJ Auxerre and HSV.

Gregory Le Quack - managed to break into the first team at Sunderland this season but became disillusioned with life in the North-East as he couldn't hold onto his place. Good news for next season however as first choice Sunderland keeper Robert Enke is demanding a transfer.

Haowan - had a great first season at Cove Bay, quickly winning over scepitcal Pirates fans. Named Player of the Year in the Dutch Premier Division too. Such form never goes unnoticed for long of course and Ajax, Benfica, Rangers and Besiktas are all interested in acquiring the player's services for next term.

Pablo Gonzaléz - a great season as the striker broke the 20 goal barrier for the first time. Now established as one of the main players at the club, he currently tutoring an NTI regen, Bert van Dam.

Rebel Israel - picked up a league winner's medal as Lyon dominated in France. The journey man could be on the move yet again though as Everton, Valencia and Roma are all monitoring his progress.

Ryca Roseau - a fine season at Marseille as he played a pivotal role in their title challenge. Currently attracting interest from some big clubs, most notably Chelsea, Manchester United and Barcelona. Dortmund and Galatasaray are interested too.

2010-11 Season Round-Up Part 3: Player Profiles (STI)

For those of you who rallied to the battle cry: 'Come on ye Pirates!!! icon_wink.gif

Bobihno - a solid season as he helped Wolfsburg to 2nd in the Bundesliga. In fantastic form for the national side with 11 goals in 11 games.

Brendanio - a good season at PSV has attracted the interest of 9 clubs (Bordeaux, Dortmund, Ajax, Braga, Deprtivo, Barcelona, Sevilla, Besiktas and Fenerbahce).

Captain Gingerbread - returned to form early on but was affected by injury again in the second part of the season. Unluckly to miss out on European qualification in one of the tightest finishes in the history of the Bundesliga.

David Sunderland - a move to Stuttgart didn't quite bring the first team oppurtunties the STI captain was hoping for. He may try his luck in Scotland next term as Rangers are currently interested in signing him.

Eduaddo - AC Milan finally secured his signature after tracking him for a couple of seasons. Seen as one for the future, he's currently listed for loan but managed to make his debut in Serie A towards the end of the season.

Gwilym J. James - a big money January move to Newcastle brought about more first team chances than were available at Nancy. The player is slightly unsettled though as he's disappointed with his club selling key players.

Heinrich Kroeger - a good season personally as first choice keeper but disappointing that Willem II performed so poorly in the league. Could be in line for a summer move - whether or not he wants to sign for the Merchants remains to be seen however...

Rich Denton - a great debut season at PSV as he held down a first team spot and contributed 12 assists. Could he be on the move again though? Newcastle and Barcelona have tabled bids in the region of 10mil and Man City, Derby, Marseille, Stuttgart and Fiorentina are also said to be monitoring the situation.

The Stig - a good season for The Stig as he played well and helped his team to a UEFA Cup spot. Trouble brews however as the player has demanded a transfer, feeling that he can succeed at a bigger club.

Jason de Mire - after the disappointment of missing out on the World Cup, de Mire made the move to Portsmouth but had to spend most of the season waiting patiently for his chance. A run in the first team towards the end of the season bodes well for next time out.

Ones to Watch: The Future of Treasure Islands Football

Last season, I picked out some regens from the youth set-up at the rival clubs plus the domestic talent that was coming through. I thought now was a good time to look at where those players are now and highlight some new ones that have appeared in the last season (again, I'm looking at players with a PA of 140+).

New hopes

Southern Treasure Islanders

Erwin Goes - only 15 years old but looks like a bright prospect. Plus, I get the chance to make lots of crappy jokes about following where his career 'Goes'. icon_razz.gif

Tom Ploeger - at 19 years old already will need to move soon in order to develop.

Joop Zonneveld - promising looking striker who will also need to move on soon to realise his potential.

Northern Treasure Islanders

Tom de Jong - already making a mark for his hometown club. Can he step up to the next level?

Roland Marsman

- currently out of contract, will he move or retire?

Where are they now? - a look at last year's prospects

Joep Beukers - moved to Cove Bay, where he is currently in the reserves and benfitting from Haowan's tutoring. A regular feature in the STI squad.

Martijn van der Berg - also made the move to Cove Bay. managed to break into the STI set-up too.

Ad Stam - has yet to move away from his hometown club and it seems to be affecting his development.
