Both of them would be improvements on what we have, Koffi more so because I'm not too sure how good Rogers' end product will be this year. I wouldn't worry about him being a team player though, James and Ceesay are far worse at that than him and they both did well. The fact that Howell's older and much more expensive would probably be the deciding factor for me, even though he's clearly a fantastic player.

Nice to hear that Smylie has gotten a long-term contract.

PH71 - thanks for the PM. I'm fine with continuing from NF's save and then taking season 2 as well

I hope I can bash through quite quickly - I have a gig in Plymouth on Saturday and then recording sessions next week and the week after so I may struggle to get much playing time then. So (assuming I can get most of the way by the end of this week) this works out quite well really!

No, I had wanted to go first because I won't have the time to play a season this quickly soon . I'll probably have more time in December/January, but I'll let you know beforehand.

That's cool, I'm sure ROW will welcome you back whenever you're available after that season :D

Cheers guys on the advice.

I'll have to think about it Romanista thanks. If I can get rid of Standing and Jones in the reserves, maybe just maybe I'll be comfortable with having room for both. :D

Cessay has interest from Plymouth. If they can offer a decent amount (how much should I hold for?) I wouldn't mind selling him if a new contract can't be discussed.

I tried everything to get rid of those two, including shouting during private chats which only served to make them back down. They rejected more than ten offers of mutual termination between them.

Yeah, try offering him a new contract now and if that doesn't work perhaps offer him out. Would be sad to lose him so quickly, but it's my fault for offering him such a short contract.

Ok, I'm going to bite the bullet and give him a 'Match Highest Earner Clause' because I can't give him a higher wage for him to get rid of the clause!

Don't sign anyone over US$36,000 ManUTactician when it's your turn! :D

I have signed Howell by default because Koffi flunked his work permit, and have also resigned the already mentioned Ceesay, as well our best defender Andy Barber ($4k wage increase).

Noted :D. I'll pass on the message to whoever is after me as well!

Miracle worker! \o/

I treated those two really badly during the first season, hope they find a new club when they leave. Has anyone signed Nick Pateman, btw?

Nope he's still a free agent. I guess if I can't sell Jones I might just release him later on in the season if I want to sign someone since his contract expires at the end of the season.

Nice job on getting rid of Standing! Did you have to pay him or did another club pick him up?

I offered him out for $0 so I didn't have to pay another cent to him. :)

I would say so far we lack quality depth but there's nothing much our scout can find especially at the back. The regular season is coming soon and I'm starting to get a good feel of the player quality, which will hopefully be enough to survive this season!

Andrew Smylie's Colwyn Bay - 2012-13

165px-Colwynbayfc.jpg

Transfers

ColwynBayTransfers_History.png

Brian Cunningham - A depth midfielder

Steve Banks - Another CM on a non-contract who gives extra depth at a low cost

Nigel Evans - Expensive for a 2.5 star player, but it's only 1 year and can play 2 different positions so I guess I can stomach it.

Juan Mendoza - Another non-contract player recently released from Spurs. He has a bit of pace and can finish. He did well in pre-season, and he can play at ST, AML, and AMR well.

Lisandro Peacock - Another former Spurs youth player, he's solid for this level with lots of room to grow for the future.

Danny Bridges - A quick player for this level with great tackling fundamentals.

Louis Howell - Big wages, but hope he pays off. He didn't have the greatest pre-season tho and will miss the first month of the season...

Steve Tanner - A third former Spurs youth joins the club! He's a good prospect for now and the future.

Leaving the club are two players I don't need, and Martin Standing, which is like addition by subtraction.

Starting XI and Depth Chart

Our tactic is similar to Romanista's tactic except for a more offensive and attacking philosophy

Friendlies

2012Friendlies.png

I changed to my familiar tactics after the Bury match and it seems to be working well, so we will stick with that for the season.

:D

Go Zeman-style on their silly BSS asses!

Won't know what hit them!

I can't remember NF playing a save for more than 2 seasons...

Good luck SnakeXe, let's hope NF didn't leave a mess! :D

Actually he left us in pretty good order! 4th in the league, plenty of quality in the squad. I was certainly expecting worse.

Good luck Snake! Do us proud!

I got this :brock:

Danny Roberts' Staines Town

October 2011

ScreenShot2012-08-21at083153.png

Just bringing you up to date with what NottinghamForest had already played - another excellent month as Bracknell and Woking were knocked out of the FA Cup successfully before we unfortunately went out to Maidenhead, and just the one loss in the league.

Danny Roberts' Staines Town

November 2011

ScreenShot2012-08-21at083226.png

A couple of narrow losses bring us to the end of NottinghamForest's time. I'll do my matches a bit more similarly to Romanista as I liked that style.

Staines 6-0 Weston-super-mare (BSS)

A great start to break a run of 4 straight defeats. A positive team meeting was probably the decisive factor, but I also made some tactical tweaks and freshened up the side with a few lineup changes as well. Faye scored 4 - I have a feeling I'll like this guy!

Farnborough 1-1 Staines (BSS)

Back down to earth but not a bad result. We probably edged it on the statistics but not enough to say the result was unfair.

Staines 2-0 Thurrock (BSS)

Another tidy performance from Faye, but only the one goal this time.

Hemel Hempstead 1-4 Staines (FA Trophy 3rd Qualifying Round)

Central midfielder Remo Rowland returned to a slightly altered Softies lineup - and promptly scored all 4 from dead balls (3 penalties and a direct free kick) to see off Hempstead in the FA Trophy. We've got BSP side Barrow at home in the first round proper.

League Table

Up to 2nd (from 4th before the WSM game), but still a margin off top spot.

Finances

Worrying.

I hope you can get Miranda scoring again. Him not finding the back of the net cost us. Going well so far though .

I'm fortunate to have the luxury of easing him back in slowly due to Faye's form, I think the two of them will make a good partnership ultimately though!

You also got Faye to score :(.

He could have scored more to be honest! He gets into some great positions, and finishes well considering it's the BSS, but if he was just a bit more composed he'd get 2 or 3 per game. I guess that's why he's playing for us rather than someone better though!

That is a good start to your reign SnakeXe, have you changed anything tactics wise or is it the same?

Thanks! I've changed a few little things, NF had a pretty decent set up already so I just made it my own really. In a 4-4-2 he had two AF on attack duty, I dropped one back to DLF support, and he had two CMs on support, dropped one back to defend. I also changed one WM to a winger, philosophy to rigid, and put time wasting up about 8 points (it was on 0). The final thing I did was set both wide players to long shots - rarely.

I called it.

Yeah you did - it is going far better than I expected though!

Danny Roberts' Staines Town

December 2011

Woking 2-1 Staines (BSS)

Despite taking the lead through an own goal we just weren't at the races. No shots on target.

Staines 3-0 Barrow (FA Trophy 1st Round)

A brilliant performance to sink BSP side Barrow! Faye started us off, another own goal helped us on the way, and Rowland put the gloss on the scoreline towards the end of the second half. Eastleigh at home are an inviting draw in the next round.

Staines 3-0 Boreham Wood (BSS)

Back in business in the league, against the league leaders too, although the result wasn't secured until the last 5 minutes, with a Morton penalty and a smart finish from Leonard adding to Butterworth's headed opener.

Staines 3-1 Sutton United (BSS)

Another home win, another 3 goals, I'm starting to see a pattern here! This time we got them in early, Leonard again on target before a rare strike from McKeown and finally that man Faye again.

Dorchester 3-1 Staines (BSS)

Another away game, another poor performance and defeat. We weren't as bad as against Woking, and the red card didn't help, but you can't give teams a 2 goal head start at this level, and that's just what we did. I'll have to think about how we approach away matches in the New Year.

League Table

That win over Boreham definitely helped, but the away defeats did not. Our home record is the best in the league, away is 20th, worse than two of the three sides in the relegation zone. The area for improvement is obvious.

Finances

Getting worse.

fixed for you :)

Yeah, yeah... :p

I did have one centre mid on defend and Remo on AP-Support. It worked for a while but when the DM who I was trying to retrain to CM got injured, it went to pot.

McKeown has done quite well in the role for me. I've not used the natural DM yet actually.

Just noticed you have "Southern Softies" in your updates Snake and was wondering why, since the North/South divide isn't in this year's edition?

Oh really? I'd assumed it was, I'll change it.

The away form is definitely a concern, you got any plans for action in the transfer window? Thinking more getting rid of any potential un-needed guys to help the finances out?

The squad is pretty thin as it is, I'll have to have a look and see if any of the guys I'm not using are a drain on the budgets.
