Reinoud - Cheers fella :D

Dexter_Morgan - Unfortunately we were screwed twice against Arsenal, the first match saw my defender fouled in the build up and they scored from an offside position - complain - FA remained silent. The replay, goal disallowed and a stonewall penalty denied - complain - FA remain silent.Load of bull****!

iacovone - Cheers mate :D If anyone is going to derail me then it will be the FA

Manager's Thoughts

Thank the lord that the month is over,15 games in 31 days was a very tiresome schedule! We were basically screwed out of the FA Cup against Arsenal as in both games, decisions went against us,I complained and the FA went silent!I won't forget this I will be back to utterly humiliate London at a later date!Europa League has seen some brilliant performances so far,we knocked out Spartak Moscow with a 4-2 aggregate victory to send us to the quarter finals. In the 1st leg,we gained a creditable 1-1 draw with Vitesse who sit in 2nd place behind PSV in the Eredivisie but we have the home leg to come which may help us.Our league form has suffered a bit due to so many games which is not surprising but we still sit in 2nd place behind Wrexham who I knew would be troublesome at the start of the season.I will be over the moon with second as that means another promotion!

April is a slightly quieter month with only 11 games to be played instead of 15,this could change if we beat Vitesse as that means it will more than likely go up to 13 games for the month! We kick off the month against Welling in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy in which I will not be holding back despite them being League 2 strugglers. We have the 2nd leg against Vitesse in which I do believe we could steal a win if we play to our best which is definitely possible. We also have every other league game to play and I am feeling quite confident of coming in 2nd place,if we still 1st then that will be even better but it is a case and see what happens as the fitness of players is an issue and I don't really have a big enough to squad to deal with it.So far this season,we've played 64 games,by the end of the season it could be around the 80 mark which is mental, let's hope my players can survive till the end!

I don't mind replays if they are against clubs with bigger grounds than ourselves as it means more money for me!

I am pleased with how my team has done and I am pleased to announce that we will be competing in the Europa League semi-final where we will face Leverkusen :D

So I can add another two games to the month now

It really has been a bizarre season to say the least :D with the amount of travel we've done,I deserve a free ticket to somewhere  Trips round the UK,Netherlands,Russia (twice!),Italy,Belgium,Montenegro and Poland. We could possibly add Potugal to the list as we have one foot in the Europa League final!

Dexter_Morgan - Cheers fella :D I was helped by Leverkusen being reduced to 10 men in the first half

Manager's Thoughts

That was a pretty fantastic month,we wrapped the Johnstone's Paint Trophy up with a 3-0 victory over Welling with Adam Smith making his debut and scoring,he came through this season's candidates! The Europa League saw a gutsy performance from us as we beat Vitesse in the quarter finals,we played Leverkusen and the first leg saw us record a fortunate 1-0 victory in the first leg,the 2nd leg suggests we were the much better team but in truth,it was about even as they were reduced to 10 men in the first half so the final awaits us!The league was brilliant as we won every game bar one (drew 0-0 with Ipsiwch). The funniest one for me though was the 2-1 victory against MK Dons,Bayliffe is a DM,scores twice then gets sent off!Absolutely pleased to win the title as we did deserve it for dropping very little points in such a busy period.

May sees one game the Europa League final which will actually be our 78th game of the season as we face Lille for Europes 2nd biggest trophy!

Cheers fella :D

I'm afraid that may be too optimistic,I've seen to have helped create a monster at Bayern Munich, since I've left they won 4 successive Bundesliga titles and are going for their 4th successive Champions League title. They beat Arsenal 9-1 in the semi-final 2nd leg with all their goal scorers being players that I signed!

Am I seeing things, did you really win the Europa league as a League one club, incredible. Just out of curiosity I totalled up number of matches played, I make it 78  (just a quick countup so I may be wrong), would be epic if someone played all 78. :D

berty1978 - No your not seeing things,I really did win the Europa League as a League one Club :D You were spot on with your quick count up,closest anyone came to playing 78 was Keith Peters who made 74 appearances (71 starts,3 subs).

Back on FM 09 I had a couple of seasons in Mexico where my side played more than 80 games (league, championship play-offs, three different continental competitions, Super Cups and Clucb World Cup) - I basically had two sets of players capable of playing at a first team level and rotated them constantly. :)

Sunderland - nPower League 1 - End of Season - 2027/28

2027/28 Transfers

A lot of players left the club to help free up wages as well as leave as I doubt they had any sort of future at the club due to me being very ambitious. We made £450k from sales, although it does not sound a lot,we actually made £445k profit overall as we spent £5k for my incomings. Those who came in were all coming in as first teamers and had a lot of potential between them, the main reason they came is because of me so I put that down to having World Class rep.I was surprised Lance Owen actually accepted our deal over Premiership clubs as he was on the fringe of the Welsh National team when we signed him so that is a massive signing for us.My aim was simple,to gate crash the playoffs and I believe we could do it.

Competitions

nPower League 1

League 1

This was absolutely brilliant,I honestly thought at times we were in danger of throwing everything away as we had to play a lot of league games in a very short period of time.To finish 9 points ahead of Wrexham who spent millions, especially when compared to every other League 1 side. The most encouraging thing surprisingly was our ability to grind out results, especially when it looked like we could possibly lose out.Extremely over the moon to be promoted to the Championship and even the board described it as miraculous which shows they never expected it.Best highlight was definitely beating Everton in what I will describe as the biggest League 1 game in a long time as we are both former Premiership clubs!

Europa League

Winners

This is a truly remarkable competition victory which I did not ever think would happen. We beat Lech in the qualifier with a 5-2 aggregate victory. The group stages saw us top the group with a 100% record which contained the likes of Ternana,Genk and Buducnost. The 1st knockout stage saw us play Terek and we played them off the park in both games as we ran out 8-1 aggregate winners. The 2nd Knockout Stage saw us face more Russians as we locked horns with Spartak Moscow,it was two close games but we had the better finishing as we won 4-2 on aggregate. We played Vitesse in the quarter final and I'm not sure how we progressed,we scraped a 1-1 draw before edging the 2nd leg 1-0,if it wasn't for the post and our superior finishing,we would have been out.The Semi-final was a nightmare, not sure how we won the 1st leg 1-0 but the 2nd leg was more comfortable as Leverkusen were reduced to ten men in the 1st half as we ran out 4-2 winners and gave us a 5-2 aggregate win.The final was quite even if you take out possession so it was anyone's game,Keith Peters popped up at the worst possible time for Lille as he scored in injury time in each half to help secure victory!

FA Cup

5th Round(Replay).

Oldham posed no threat as we won 4-0 in the 1st round which we didn't even get out of 2nd gear. The 2nd round was closer as we face League 1 side Sheffield Wednesday,we won the battle with a 2-1 victory to move onto the 3rd round.3rd round saw a rematch as we faced Chesterfield, and in a massive coincidence we beat them 3-1 which is the same score as we beat the previously before. The 4th round saw us face Tottenham, the first game saw us drew 4-4 in what can be described as an entertaining match by neutrals. We matched them blow for blow in the replay but our superior finishing saw us win 3-1 to move onto the 5th round. The 5th round was a rematch of last seasons final as we faced Arsenal, both games annoyed the hell out of me as we were screwed both times. The first game saw them foul my defender then immediately score in an offside position, replay saw us have a stonewall penalty not allowed and a legitimate goals ruled out for a foul.Same old Arsenal, always cheating!

Capital One Cup

3rd Round

It's simple really,we were outclassed and deserved to lose.

Johnstone's Paint Trophy

Winners

Easy 2-0 win over Rotherham in the 1st round, this was followed up by a 4-0 demolition of Notts County in the 2nd Round. The North quarter final against Ipswich was a bit closer as we won 3-1 at Portman Road. The North semi-final against Tranmere saw very poor finishing as it took penalties to beat them,we should of won in normal time but we messed up,thank god my players can take penalties. The North final against saw a demolition display against Barnsley as we ran out 5-1 aggregate winners. The final against Welling was very simple,we won 3-0 which included debutant Adam Smith scoring as I gave Keith Peters a rest.

Player's,Stats and Awards

Best XI 27/28 - Overall Best XI

A quick look at the Player's Stats for the season.

Top Scorer

Keith Peters - 62

Keith Peters was the top scorer hitting 62 goals for the season, the remarkable thing is that he already has scored 112 goals and is still only 18 years old,by the time he is 21,he could potentially be approaching 250 goals! He made the most appearances last season as he made 74 appearances, scored 62 goals, provided 22 assists and averaged at 7.75 which was brilliant. With how brilliant he is,he only has Watford sniffing around which is pretty insulting as he is a brilliant player and deserves being linked to bigger clubs. His performances saw him pick up Player of the Year and Fans Player of the Year.

Most Assists

Wojciech Bodzioch - 32

Congrats to the guy whose name I would not want to try and pronounce after a night out!Bodzioch did amazingly well and I am ever so thankful to my scouts who found him and I managed to pick him up on a free transfer. He had an amazing debut season where he made 67 appearances, scored 15 goals and provided 32 assists while averaging at 7.41.His form saw him get called up to the Denmark squad where he has made the right wing his own already. He can only get better as well which is very encouraging, can't wait to see how he performs next season!

Special Mention

Andre DaCosta

The young defender had a tremendous season overall and is regarded as a club icon like Peters and myself. The season saw him make 67 appearances, score 15 goals and won player of the match 9 times while averaging at 7.66.He is so good and yet no one is interested in him to my relief as that means I should be able to keep him with very few problems. He will have no problems in playing in a higher league next season and I honestly believe that he wouldn't be out of his depth in the Premiership.I am very confident that he will become an England international at some point in the future as they do need defenders more than attackers.

Manager's Thoughts

That was an epic season to say the least,78 games played and a treble win which included the League 1 title which means Sunderland are back in the Championship for the first time since the 2018/19 season and it will be my first season in the Championship since 2015/16 when I was managing Wigan and actually beat Sunderland in the playoffs! If my players can win the Europa League then I really do believe they can fight amongst the top teams in the Championship,I will need to strengthen as I have to play in the Europa League but a bigger squad will help as I will be able to rotate players to keep the team fresh.I have also managed to get Sunderland back up to a national rep which should help with Sponsorship to help increase the finances at the club.

I still have two years left on my contract which will be extended as I want the Champions League trophy at the Stadium of Light as that should cement my legacy of being the best manager to have won a major European trophy with a club from the North East. The training facilities have downgraded due to technological advances and the board won't upgrade them but they have accepted a request to upgrade the youth facilities which should help Sunderland's future with hopefully better youth candidates coming through. After this season,I am now regarded as a club icon, next stop....Legend!

Sunderland - nPower Championship - Pre-Season - 2028/29

Club Information - Facilities - Boardroom Overview - Expectations - Finances

Pre-Season Transfers

Six players left on a free as they were not going to make it under my management as they were nowhere near good enough for Sunderland for the future.A further five players left to give them the first team experience they wanted but I loaned them out as I will be running their contracts down as they are not good enough either.Seven players joined the club for £2.2 million, the one I'm most excited about is Danny Howarth,he was released on a free by Liverpool and came here.He is an Welsh International with 24 caps and is rated at 4.5* CA!The others were backup players but will become brilliant players in the future,we stand a good chance of playoffs this season!

Pre-Season Fixtures

4c911c51-05d4-48d3-8cc2-45373427963e_zpsb1a69a27.jpg

Not too bad of a pre-season but it means nothing for the actual season although the win over Olympiakos was brilliant.

The Team

Tactics - Team Report

Key Players

Joseph Hunt - GK

Made massive improvements as a goalkeeper last season and is now rated as a decent Premiership goalkeeper,I must once thank Mancini for losing his marbles and selling him very cheaply. He Kept 26 clean sheets from 55 appearances which was a good return and he can only get better in the future. He will find it tough to break into the full national team in the future as England seems to have a lot of good goalkeepers.

Andre DaCosta - DLC

One of the best defenders in the team,it was a very hard decision who to pick for my Key defender as DaCosta and Madureira are both rated at 3*.I gave it DaCosta as he plays at centre back which sees most of the action as that is normally how teams attack me.DaCosta was amazing last season and was one of the biggest problems for the opposition when it came to set pieces as a good header on him.Surprised only Birmingham are interested in him as he will become a damn good defender in the future.

Danny Haworth - MC/AMC

He is the one players I was over the moon to get, released by Liverpool on a free after failing to renegotiate his contract.I was ecstatic to get him as he will add valuable experience to the team as he will be one of the older players despite being 24 years old!He is not only the best MC but he is also rated as the best player in the team with a rating of 4.5* CA!I will be playing him in the attacking MC position due to high flair and creativity and it also looks like he is pretty good at long shots as well.Cannot wait to see him tear the Championship up!

Keith Peters - ST

Now regarded as a Sunderland icon,he has been the top scorer for the last two seasons, hitting a combined 112 goals which is a phenomenal achievement for someone so young. He will almost certainly be the top scorer this season, how many he will score, who knows!I will accept anything over 25 goals but knowing him,he will hit a lot more.I will not be surprised if he made the England team this season despite playing outside top flight. The only thing I can confirm is that he will not play as many game as last season as I now have a very decent backup for him.An interesting fact is that he has never missed a penalty.

Manager's Thoughts

I've done what I've can and strengthened the team so I am ready to hit this season head on,the board want us to learn from the experience of participation in the Championship,my aim is a lot higher as I want the team to gate crash the playoffs.I know we are playing in the Euro Supercup which I am already writing off as Bayern are far too strong. We will be playing in the Europa League but according to the seedings,we will enter at the group stage so I am expecting another busy season game wise.I need the cup runs this season to help with finances but we should have an increased attendance this year which should also help the financial side of things.I took advice and got more players in so I am able to rotate them more without worrying about fitness which was a problem last season.

I have a year left on my contract at the end of this season but I have no hesitation in signing a new contract as I won't be leaving Sunderland till I have the Champions League trophy at the Stadium of Light which may be difficult with Bayern Munich and now Chelsea having a lot of my old players between them! The facilities for the youth set up are being upgraded but the board wouldn't let me upgrade the training facilities, maybe when we win the Champions League,we can have a new stadium named after myself. As for this season,I accept all challenges so bring it on!

Manager's Thoughts

Still early days but it has been pretty frustrating due to very poor finishing from our attacking force. We kicked off the league in style as we won the Tyne-Wear derby in front of 31,301 people as Keith Peters hit a hat-trick,the other two league games saw us blow chance after chance but it means we are still unbeaten, maybe when the players settle down then we will be able to kick it up a gear.As for the Euro Super Cup game against Bayern, all I can say is that I am surprised we only lost 1-0 as they absolutely battered us and I can see why they have won the last 4 competitions!

September sees the return of Europa League action and we have been drawn into a group containing Club Brugge,CSKA Moscow and Dinamo Tbilsi, talk about wracking up the air miles!Looks tough on paper with CSKA and Club Brugge but I am sure we can do it.The Capital One Cup kicks off as we face Burnley and that is a tie a lot easier than Arsenal and Chelsea I've had at this stage in the last couple of seasons.Only three league games but one sees a return for myself to Wigan, while the other two are against York and Charlton,I do feel 6 points is achievable but the Wigan game will be very tough!

Manager's Thoughts

I honestly thought we were becoming a one man team as only Keith Peters had originally had scored all our goals and did so up until the 20th September! We made a brilliant start in Europa League,we beat Club Brugge who were lucky they didn't concede more, the game against CSKA Moscow was brilliant as we won 6-1 at their ground,Colin Staples scored and got sent off as we played 30 minutes with ten men.I am ecstatic that we got to the 4th round of the Capital One Cup for the first time ever as we beat Burnley 4-2 which saw Haworth score his first two goals for the club. The league was pretty easy with exception to the Wigan game,we easily disposed of York and Charlton while Wigan were a pain to beat as they kept on coming at us.We are in quite a good position and it is really difficult to score against us now!

October is here and we have two cups games and four league games. We are at home in the Europa League as we face Dinamo Tbilsi who are definitely the weakest in the group. We play in the Capital One Cup 4th round for the first time ever as we have to go to Old Trafford and face Man Utd so I am not expecting anything!I probably have the easiest games ever in the league as we face Swindon (22nd),Wycombe (20th),Wolves (21st) and Sheffield Utd (24th).Don't think I could ask for an easier run of games then those four.I think we can win five out of six this month as I don't see us beating Man Utd what so ever!

Manager's Thoughts

There was certainly one stand out result for the month,I was never expecting to get anything against Man Utd and to go to Old Trafford and beat them in Normal time is definitely my biggest result to date!It was our first time in the 4th round for years and now we have made it to the quarter-finals!We did want I expected us to against Dinamo Tbilsi even though Keith Peters was suspended for the match so we are now as good as through but unfortunately I think Man Utd are the team to watch out for in the Europa League as they are the strongest in the competition. The league was as simple as I expected it to be and we look like we are doing brilliantly but I know we have the toughest teams to come so we will see how we are doing in December before I start getting excited about the prospect of top flight football. The one thing to laugh about was the fact the Sheffield Utd manager was sacked straight after our game!

November looks to be a busy month but I am almost certain games will be rearranged due to the internationals which normally occur in November. At the moment we have eight games, three of which will finish up our group stage campaign in the Europa League,if we get a win against Dinamo Tbilsi then I am almost certain we will be through. The league games are quite a bit tougher than last months but I am only certain of facing Hereford and QPR as I'm not sure about the other three so it depends on when the internationals are.All in all,we are having a cracking season so far,if this continues then I will start getting excited in January!

Manager's Thoughts

That was less games then I originally thought, the fact we played more games in Europe than we did domestically says it all!We actually won all the games without any major difficulty. The Wrexham game is a standout game as we were so close to each other last season and they are still doing well this season so to win 5-0 is phenomenal.Europa League saw us destroy Dinamo Tbilisi, give the fans a game to remember against Club Brugge and finish off the group in style with beating CSKA Moscow to give us a 100% win record!

December is a very busy month for us,we have two cup games and eight league games to deal with, thank god for having a big squad at my disposal. This is where we will see how good the team is with regards to the league as we face some of the teams who are in similar positions than us,the one big highlight for Acidburn will be Sunderland vs Crewe at the Stadium of Light. The two cup games are quite massive for us as they are both Premiership opposition,we face Liverpool at Anfield in the Capital One Cup quarter final game. The FA Cup is on 30th December which is unusual as I always thought it was in January,we will face Premiership leaders Man City as they come to the Stadium of Light for the 3rd round tie.Let the massive fixture list begin!
