you'll get 3rd, one decent midfielder, a domestic cup final...and you'll make the knockout rounds of the CL :*) </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

That'd do me, I fully expect us to actually finish fourth due to the efforts of O'Shea and Giggs tbh icon_biggrin.gif

maybe. but specifically singling out ronaldo from a tournament that has been crammed with cheats is absolutely ridiculous.

I'd be pleased if we signed Hargreaves but I am one of those who've always rated him. I'd also be pleased that we're signing British players. We're the only one from Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool that are maintaining a British base to our squad, something that I feel is part of the Man Utd ideal.

I see what you're saying and I'm not worrying as such, I just don't see the six points as being as significant as it might look. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

I'm more looking at a 6 point lead, effectively 7, as being beyond my wildest dreams for this stage of the season had you asked me in august. I see what you're saying in terms of significance, as bigger leads have been lost to lesser teams than Chelsea at this stage of previous seasons. But the same assumptions that might suggest us finishing second this year wouldn't have given us this lead either, so there's at least hope where before there was none. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

Fair enough, as you know I'm not particularly one for hope, unless there is a good reason for it.

I would rather be 6pts up than 6pts behind of course, there's just a)a feeling that things about the current squad feel too good to last, the lack of injuries etc b)Chelsea have too much class not to get it together c)We've had chances liker against them at home, the Newcastle match etc to extend the lead and that it really should be more than 6 atm and it'll come to haunt us.

I realise that each of those can be just as easily countered, but I'm usually going to take the cautious/pessimistic argument icon_biggrin.gif </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

I do take your points, and i think they have merit. I'm not going to counter them as such, just simply say that there are enough reasons to be happy that the inevitability of a Chelsea title victory hasn't been there so far this season, even if that's still the eventual outcome.

The last minute match saving volley against Oldham in the FA cup semi has to be up there.

I think the best he ever scored purely on technique was for Wales against Spain. Similar to the one against City, but higher, further out, and with more power.

As for him being manager one day, he's progressing well, but he's nowhere near there yet. As far as i'm concerned the fact he's a former player should have no bearing on it, and if you took that factor out and judged him purely on his managreial record you wouldn't consider him yet. As far as i'm concerned, ranking managers more highly because they're former players is akin to ranking managers for the national team more highly because they're english. The advantages are very minor, and for me should only be looked at in the event of two otherwise pretty equal candidates.

I hate Boro, so so much.

What a hovel of a city, utterly **** poor ground, literally it's plonked in the middle of nowhere. Police stopping us at a petrol station to search for beer, then a escort to the ground.

Having Fergie talk over the tannoy to tell us to "respect the stewards", having several messages of "Riverside is an all seater stadium please sit down", then the scoreboard "Sit down if you love football" a stadium announcer with a voice like a helium balloon.

Police on horses charging at United fans for commiting the horrible crime of not getting onto the coaches, a copper shoving a young lad for the same thing.

then onto the boro fans waiting for us giving us abuse and clenched fists and easeh chanting :*************)

I'd love a nuke to hit that utter hovel of a City, won't be going there for a game again in a hurry.

Who said that?

Haven't Chelsea not scored against Liverpool at Anfield in a good few matches in the CL? It wasn't that big of a shock that Chelsea didn't score.

hope Smithy stays if he's happy to play a squad role, but at the same time wouldn't blame him at all for seeking a first team spot somewhere if we bring in another forward or two (unlikely ofc).

Saviola would be class on a free, not quite the non-fragile Saha we're looking for but he's a mobile goalscoring frontman, technically-gifted and not exactly a slouch. just lacking the physical presence we need really.
