So Ronaldo's broken hearts already then.

A player of his potential should NOT be sold. He's only bloody 20 and he's one of the most gifted players of this generation already.

A Rooney Ronaldo Rossi strike force in 3 or 4 years time will be fantastic. Man Utd please don't sell him, the EPL cannot sell it's better players, it's already inferior to La Liga as things stand now.

Ryan, are you sure your mum has taken the season ticket?

(there’s an element of urban legend about the following story, but I’ll tell it anyway).

Sometime in the late 80s / early 90s the wife of one of my dad’s colleagues promised her son she’d get him a Villa season ticket. Summer came and went with no sign of the book. Anyways, come Christmas day he and his dad open their presents – to find she’d bought them both tickets in August and then decided to wrap them up and hand them over at Christmas icon14.gif

I think what must be the most frustrating thing for all of you lot is that a few weeks ago you saw ths coming, you predicted youd focus on Hargreaves, lose out on Senna because of it, and then end up with no-one. One thin i'm interested i though, who do you lay the blame at most - Ferguson or Gill? It's clear Ferguson knew you needed a destructive DM and yet Gill has completely failed to deliver on the number 1 or number 2 arget. Surely the Hargreaves stuff should have preceded any move for Senna?

Carrick was not good, but not as bad as some here have made out. Everybody's watching his passing, as that's supposed to be his strong point and it was really hit and miss. However, his positioning and defensive work like interceptions were sound. Scholes also looks comfortable playing with him, which is important, as he doesn't have all the onus on him to pass and control the game. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

I think defensively he was no better than adequate. That might be enough if his passing was good enough that we were keeping the ball a lot better, but i lost count of the number of times he gave it away. He still did his usual one or two great passes, and i think the ball to Rooney could quite easily have produced a goal if Rooney had been at his best, but his alround contribution just isn't up to scratch at the minute.

Long term, if his bread and butter passing game gets up to scratch, add that to a reasonable defensive contribution and a couple of chance creating long passes a game (the one part of his game that probably is up to scratch at the minute) and we couldhave ourselves a player.

And don't expect to see Fletcher ahead of him for a big game anytime soon. If Fergie is willing to say he was one of the better performers after a game like that, he's obviously trying to build his confidence, so i'm guessing more often than not he'll be picked on a 'not wanting to dent his confidence' basis.

yeah but Vidic has a finger rather than the full palm up.

straight to the point icon_cool.gif

tbh though I'd like to see him adopt some sort of superhero pose, hands on hips, motionless, staring into the distance, perhaps put a cape with a big 'V' on... until everyone piles onto him in celebration.

Maybe it'll be down to the touts to provide ticketage, but that could prove prohibitively expensive. (Bought another car last weekend)

There's no way he stays there. Awful decision to send him to that hellhole in the first place, and if we were really keen on him to go there, it should have been for the season with him able to play in all competitions. As it is, Newcastle cba with a player with potential who they'll have to give back in a couple of months, instead favouring Antoine f**king Sibierski.

If we sign a forward in January I assume he'll go out on loan somewhere else, hopefully somewhere more suitable. Even Antwerp would be better. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

The whole deal's a little weird if you ask me. I'm sure the only reason he was loaned there was due to some sort of informal agreement that he'd get games (or cover for Owen etc).

I'd imagine you've covered this topic many times in here already.

Hallelujah!

So who won tonight? </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

This is worse than talking to Keyser. So the point we're trying to make is that by getting our tactics wrong, we were in far more danger of going out than if we'd got them right. And we got our tactics right eventually, but we only changed them as a reaction to going a goal down. Does it not worry you that we made exactly the same tactical errors as we did against Celtic, and that had the goal against us come earlier rather than later as it did in that game, we could and probably would have been out of the competition?

The league is the priority. At the start of the season, if you said you can have one but only one trophy, that's what most people would have gone for. So to shift priorities in january with the minimum of a 4 point lead would be criminal, regardless of how optimistic/pessimistic you are.

Looking at that again we look so completely lost at sea when the ball comes in.

The ball was damn-near perfect for Henry but if it had dropped a bit deeper for Baptista we'd have been just as screwed.

I understand why people are saying Vidic but he's got Adebayor to deal with, Gary is miles away from van Persie if it hits the back post, Rooney and Carrick (I think its him) have left Baptista on his own if it goes deep as I state above, and Henry is there, ghosting in behind Rio because he's positioned himself much too far away from him in anticipation of a near post cross that never came. Too much attention paid to whats in front of him and not enough behind. He's with him at the edge of the 18 yrd box but then he steps forward and leaves Vidic overloaded.

I'm not saying that the cross didn't make it, but the way it was delivered capitalised on the poor positioning of our team as it came in.

Ok just looked at match tickets on Man Utd website and got reminded of our rather brillianty scheduled friendly on 13 of March against a Europe 11. Does anyone else feel this has the potential to ruin our whole season.

If Ronaldo or anyone for that matter were to get injured in this game, it'd be utter madness. And considering the upcoming schedule the last thing needed is a friendly.

I expect nothing less than a second eleven.

Tues 27/2 Reading Away FA Cup

Sat 03/02 Liverpool Away PL

Wed 07/02 Lille Home CL

Sat 10/02 ??Boro?? Away FA Cup

Tues 13/3 Euro XI Home Friendly

Sat 17/3 Bolton Home PL

Utter madness set of fixturs coming up

Anyone else find it mildly depressing that the only members of our first team to have been 'groomed' through the youth team and reserves are just the remaining members of the class of 92?

Even if you expand it to our overall squad, you only add in Brown, O'Shea and Richardson icon_frown.gif

if the article in question was a top 10 list as you say, then fair enough, rightly or wrongly it is always done that way, although given the nature of football it's a meaningless stat, as the only one that counts is spending power for transfers and wages.

If, as i suspect, it was a throwaway line within an article, it's nonsense, because it creates a wholely false impression about our spending power in the transfer market. That's what gets people annoyed, it's nothing to do with thinking the media have any sort of hidden agenda.

From the mirror today:

Manchester United are set to offer a contract to irish wonderkid Shay Brady, tipped to be the next Wayne Rooney. The 16-year old is already in the first team at St Patrick's in the Irish League, and United are prepared to sign him on a £5,000-a-week deal in January when he is 17.

Also says that Liverpool are after him too.

anyone seen or heard of him?
