Sadly it looks like Jonah is going to have to wait at least another year. Derby's form+suspensions+injuries and Billy Davies' luck in the play-offs pretty much makes that certain I feel icon_frown.gif

Would be gutted if any of them weren't involved tbh. Only one we can cope without by late May if our injuries clear up is Gabby but still would hate it if he missed out.

and yeah, Giggs was loads better yesterday. Jonny's right in that the main annoyance for me is his speed of thought has been seriously lacking and he's so often caught on his heels when a pass is played to him, allowing the defender to easily intercept. less of that yesterday, better movement, some genuine creativity and blimey, maybe even a bit of leadership and taking of responsibility when we needed it. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

good good, for a while I was starting to think it was just me that saw him improve yesterday.

annoys me when people rate players based on their pre-conceptions from recent games or whatever, rather than actually watching the game in question properly. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

Think that might be my problem kinda. Not that I'm saying I thought he was poor for the sake of it (see my recent turnaround on the back of some qg KR23 performances), more that I'm notice when he gives the ball away, picks the wrong pass, etc. more because I'm half looking for it, or expecting it I suppose. Still don't think he was particularly poor or particularly great, and at least seemed to get the simple things right more often than not yesters. More than anything, I simply feel that I expect more from him, since he is fb, and was turning in much better performances as recently as the start of this season.

Btw, anyone not going to Milan congregating in Mancs anywhere? Tempted to head up.

Trawling through the thread right now to try and find Marks words on selling both Ole and Giggs.

Haven't found them yet but have found this gem from bling in reference to Scholes return from injury:

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content">

hahah this is immense, old past it players coming back from injury being peddled as the new signings \o/

we got fifth sewn up this season.

A lot of posts look like **** central when taken out of context but at the time.

Ronaldo was being villified and his house smashed up as the press wanted him gone from the country. He isnt English so why shouldnt people think he would leave?

Ruud had netted 150 goals for the club. His goals had taken us to our last league title. People loved the man so why wouldnt they want him to stay?

And then Fergie. After not winning the league or looking like doing so for the last 3 years and just praying we got out of the group stages in the CL while Fergie seemed to make the same costly mistakes over and over again you couldnt see why people questioned him?

Yes things might look daft now we have contested everything with Ronaldo coming of age but if Ronnie had been injured for the season early on would we now be saying the exact same things that look daft to you now?

That's the problem in here. Too much looking at what players were instead of what they are, and too many people assuming if you criticise a former great you are somehow not showing enough respect for what they did in the past.

That sort of thinking is how we hung onto Giggs through pretty much 3 seasons of mediocrity, Keane through about 2 seasons too many, and most importantly of all it's how Liverpool stopped winning championships.

There's no room for sentiment.

As for keeping Richardson over Giggs, it's quite simply the tiny chance he'll fulfill his potential over the tinier chance Giggs will forget the last 3 seasons of mediocrity and come good again.

Although if i hadn't forgotten Eagles he'd have been out of the door ahead of them both. icon_biggrin.gif </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

Found it. Did a search in the end, thankfully as I was about 100 pages away in my estimation of when he said it icon_biggrin.gif

What's wrong with what mark said there?

Every single word of it was and is spot on.

If Giggs had played like he did last season this season, then he should have gotten the boot. He hasn't, he's been great, so he's done what Mark wanted but didnt believe he could do.

Richardson could easily have fulfilled his potential this season. He hasn't. Simple as that. Doesnt make mark's comments laughable at all.

precisely what he said. Richardson was already quite clearly not good enough and had been given more than enough time/chances to 'fulfil his potential'.

If that was the case why did everyone disagree with mark when he made the comment? Whats happened this season just proves that it was laughable to think Richardson could have made more of a contribution.

Serious question not trying to troll: Why did Rooney make a point of going to the Everton fans and kissing the Man Utd badge? I thought the bulk of the United fans were there. icon_confused.gif

But . . . if he did, it was because of the relentless barracking he got from them all game. Just as they did at OT, they were on his back from the very start. "You're just a fat little nobhead" etc etc

At OT, he did make a point of going to the Everton fans before kissing the badge. (Was right in front of me. icon_cool.gif)

Jesus wept, that was what, 9 months ago icon_biggrin.gif

I'm going to say one thing about all this, which i should have said enough times before for it to get through. The starting point for all those comments was a hypothetical scenario where we had to get rid of five players from the squad, and so was based as much on the fact of depreciating transfer values as anything else.

So much for stockport solidarity icon_frown.gif

Oh man what an utterly fantastic day, was in the Everton end, at 2-0 down and chelsea 2-1 up I was convinced it was over, super Phil Neville :*) equalised and then rooney scored to make it 3-2, was 2-2 at the bridge, eagles sticking one in to put it beyond doubt, me and nick headed to the away end and got let in whilst we were kept in, then walked out walking through Merseydive singing United songs with the police escort :**********)

I wouldn't, just because its easier just to keep track of the fantasy produced by the domestic press let alone the random rumors that filter through from numerous foreign daily sport papers.

They generally find their way into our press a week or two later anyway when columnists have to fill a couple of inches/they finally translate an article with their foreigner-mother tongue dictionary.
