HOORAY HENRIK
Zuniga's tackle was borderline assault. But, you have to ask yourself two things. 1. Would Zuniga have put in a challenge like that if Brazil wasn't already kicking Colombian players around? 2. Would Zuniga have put in a challenge like that if the referee was punishing fouls like he should have? The answer to both is no. In my opinion, anyway. So whilst Zuniga is at fault, it's also the referee's fault for not controlling his game and it's also brought on by the antagonistic nature of the Brazilian's dirty tactics. Karma. Oh and I too thought Neymar was taking the ****. Thought it was just a time-wasting tactic. The boy who cried wolf. Absolutely zero sympathy for Brazil. A bit crap for Neymar because he's not going to be able to play any more and he's obviously not really one of the players who was committed fouls left, right and centre. But hey ho, Brazil wanted to fight and they got a fight. They can't cry about it, now. Considering he did this in the first half, I'm going to go with Zuniga just being a dirty *******. JD nawrat
Considering he did this in the first half, I'm going to go with Zuniga just being a dirty *******. Yup. He is. And the referee not controlling the game allowed him to be super-aggressive with a flying knee And the Brazilian's antagonism certainly didn't help. PMLF
Willian almost got injured in training today after a rough challenge with Hernanes, why won't people want his head too like they want Zuñiga's?

PMLF
Think out that question for a second.... My point is the ridiculous overreaction regarding Neymar's injury, it's sad and everything but people shouldn't be so hostile to Zuñiga because of that injury, things like this happen. skybluedave
Then just say that. Don't bring up a complety unrelated situation.
PMLF
Then just say that. Don't bring up a complety unrelated situation. I thought it was obvious enough. That almost injury (Willian) was compared to Neymar's case here before it turned out to be less serious than it originally looked.
Confused Clarity
to be fair. It was clear to me at least that Paulo was talking of how things were going locally to him.

adhikapp
Probably not a surprise, but according to reports here, Neymar is very depressed now, crying a lot, etc.. I would. Imagine youre in Neymar's position where you have a reputation in faking but in this tournament you stopped diving about here and there, just trying to go around your own business, and suddenly gets an injury so bad you have to miss your team's semifinal and potential final at home soil. If I was Neymar, I might think maybe diving from a reckless challenge wouldnt have been so bad after all.
Svenc
Always sucks when key players of respective tournaments miss later stages, no matter the reason. It has happened quite often now, and was partly supported by the now defunct suspension rules: Caniggia 1990, Ronaldo 1998 (was fielded but definitely wasn't there), Ballack 2002, Müller 2010, Neymar 2014... Luckily the Fifa crooks have acknowledged that the final round in particular are supposed to see the best players (and likely they came to that conclusion due to money reasons first and foremost). Can't do much against injuries though. If refs were given outlines that would see them making less calls and thus stopping the game (the much lower number of bookings compared to previous Cups would support this), it has backfired now though. VamPook
Neymar would have probably injured himself eventually from all the diving and somersaulting he does anyway
Eleanor_Rigby
Apart from 2 games, with one of them being against a very poor Cameroon side, I don't get all the hype surrounding Neymar. Against both Mexico and Chile he wasn't the stand out player from what i remember. Against Columbia he wasn't exactly the best player on the field by a country mile either. Maybe I'm being too harsh, but all i can remember from the games i mentioned above was the commentators fawning over him every time he touched the ball whether it merited it or not. PMLF
Yes, Neymar only played well against Cameroon and Croatia, he was still by far the best Brazilian attacking player overall in the World Cup so far though.
Helarxe
He wasn't having a great world cup but his hype was relatively deserved on former performances like the Conf Cup.
Tele Santana
I disagree. I think Neymar played well against Mexico, and played superbly against Croatia and Cameroon. Against Chile, Aranguiz targeted to take him out of the game in the beggining and I think it did impact his game. Against Colombia he wasn´t playing well, I agree. But Neymar is the kind of player who could not be seen for most of the match and make a difference in the end. Just like Messi did against Iran, for example. EnterUsernameHere
Read on twitter that there's a possibility he'll play in the final (if they get there) with painkillers. I take it I should go ahead and assume it's the usual twitter nonsense?

Tele Santana
It is really unlikely as playing the final could make a serious injury worse. But in the 20´s Flamengo´s forward Moderato played days after his appendicitis and made the goal of the title - remember, 1920´s. If Neymar was playing for Flamengo, there would be a chance after all.

Razzler
FIFA 'looking into the challenge' from the Colombian guy If he gets any kind of ban it will be hilarious Refuse to 're-ref' games and take power from refs, can't retro punish diving or cheating in any way so to somehow punish a guy for a challenge within a match would have be LOL'ing They may just be saying that to pacify angry Brazil fans though
Pangaea
I just don't think there was intent to injure him, and if Neymar hadn't gotten injured, absolutely nobody would be talking about that situation. All this flak is because he got injured, not because of what the player did. If that makes sense.
RubenJ
Ha Thank you doctor Ruben ^^Neymar was transported on his back in one of those coffin-like orange things they use. Either he does not have a spinal cord threatening condition or the Brazilian medics are the worst ever. I didn't say his spinal chord looked like it was damaged? Do I need a medical degree to say a broken back = a broken back? Apologies for undermining your authority here in claiming it's sensationalist to call it what it is. Bradz FM
Karma is a b*tch!. Thats what they get for booting Colombian players around all game. Anyway he's not a big loss. He was never going to do much against any reputable teams anyway

Is anyone else expecting a Ronaldo-esque named on not on teamsheet/on teamsheet scenario? RubenJ
He's not going to make a miraculous recovery fgs. Mr Wallin
My take on it - while some will criticise the player for being reckless in his challenge, for me, the referee needs to shoulder some blame for losing control of the game and not clamping down on the thuggish attacks Brazil executed on J-Rod. That is what caused things to get out of control. 1. Would Zuniga have put in a challenge like that if Brazil wasn't already kicking Colombian players around?2. Karma. While I do agree that the referee do have to shoulder some of the blame for how this match played out the real culprit is actually FIFA and its instructions. Carballo simply followed orders (just as he did in the Uruguay v England match) and left his card in his bag, just as all the other referees have done previously. IMO it has made for quite a lot poorer football than I wanted and expected but that's what FIFA wanted. Yea, Ballack missing the final forced some tweaking to the caution accumulation rules. But that change is the reason that Thiago got suspended for the semi and plays a big part in the higher bar for fouls/cautions we have seen that indirectly lead to Neymars injury. So the FIFA policies aimed at keeping the biggest names on the pitch ends up destroying their poster boy and team, karma can be a bitch sometimes.
