Jason the Yank
Or at least, that's what the North Korean government is telling its people. http://metro.co.uk/2014/07/12/north-korea-media-tells-country-that-its-team-has-reached-world-cup-final-4796033/
PMLF
This shows well who their rivals are from their point of view: The report says North Korea’s brave side crushed Japan 7-0, USA 4-0 and China 2-0 in the group stages, before going on to reach the final… against Portugal. jmr
Pretty dumb since most people in NK will know this isn't true. They get quiet a bit of legit non NK news.
Barry Cartman
North Korea more believable than Portugal

SOStriker
Pretty sure that's a fake clip (looks like a redubbed voice-over).
McMaster#28
Pretty sure that's a fake clip (looks like a redubbed voice-over). Yeah it's rubbish. The WC is on TV in North Korea anyway.
TM
get your bets on Portugal losing 3-0 with Eusebio coming back from the dead to have 4 goals disallowed didn't Portugal not hit 7 past them in 2010? bit difficult editing that
PMLF
Yeah it's rubbish. The WC is on TV in North Korea anyway. Good to know it's rubbish, but while North Korea continue with such an absurd kind of government they will always be an easy target for jokes like that. daylight
The funniest thing about these sorts of threads is that people actually believe them! They seem to think that North Korea has no outside link to the outside world ... at all!

Jason the Yank
The funniest thing about these sorts of threads is that people actually believe them! They seem to think that North Korea has no outside link to the outside world ... at all! Only if you're willing to risk your family's life in a labor camp. Radio and TV sets in North Korea are supplied pre-tuned to government stations and radios must be checked and registered with the police. According to reports from dissident and defector groups, some North Koreans purchase a second radio set that is not registered, enabling them to listen to foreign broadcasts. One radio network is wired into most residences and workplaces. This carries news and commentary that is considered too sensitive for consumption outside North Korea, such as criticising economic activities that are inconsistent with national policy. Reports from refugees say that there are also those who take the risk of opening the preset radios in order to be able to tune in other frequencies. A number of radio stations operate from the South, but it is difficult to find out how successful they are at reaching their intended audience. http://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-pacific-16255126
Jason the Yank
Oh FFS. http://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/comments/2aili1/north_korean_news_showing_their_country_won_the/civj3ni The thing is, North Korea media says some pretty batshit things, so this is totally believable. daylight
Only if you're willing to risk your family's life in a labor camp. Man you guys make me laugh! Oh FFS.http://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/comments/2aili1/north_korean_news_showing_their_country_won_the/civj3ni The thing is, North Korea media says some pretty batshit things, so this is totally believable. Yep 'totally believable'..... ...When all you do is read the same crap from the same sort of sources ... by the way, have you subscribed to the 'National Enquirer'? Or do you just get a used copy from the local library?

RubenJ
Countless news websites are reporting this as real. Even the so called respectable ones.
B-Real
Let's be honest, the past years Western propaganda about North Korea is starting to match North Korean propaganda about the West. It's becoming a bit silly. (by which I'm not trying to say that NK is not a fascist state)
Razzler
The article says it's a spoof tbf I liked the Kim getting all those hole-in-ones and being great at Golf
McMaster#28
In Jason's defence I don't think it mentioned yesterday it was a spoof. Not to say Jason shouldn't have thought it was spoof anyway
Razzler
Fair enough. Is 'believeable' then but I don't know how much of this stuff the North Koreans actually believe and how much is 'yeah, yeah, ok, sure thing' not rocking the boat
B-Real
Fair enough. Is 'believeable' then but I don't know how much of this stuff the North Koreans actually believe and how much is 'yeah, yeah, ok, sure thing' not rocking the boat How many 'Westerners' believe the anti-North Korea propaganda coming through our media? The deaths of the vice president and the singer/lover (who showed up singing on a concert a few weeks later), the supposedly discovery of a unicorn lair, apparently North Korean media outlets reporting on Kim Jong-Il's golf score, all the men being forced to sport a haircut like the great leader etc.. they all turned out to be fake story's fabricated by Western media instead of North Korean indoctrination. I do believe there's some serious propaganda going on over there, but it's probably a lot more subtle and lot less stupid than what our media try to make of it.
Razzler
Was the golf score one not real? I agree but seeing as there seems to be no reporting from there it's hard to say what people are really like. Any journos venturing there seem to either have a button camera asking people directions to the market or are shepherded around on an official visit They do like a parade though
