PMLF
Interesting. How bad are they suggesting these issues are? It's just speculation so should be taken with a pinch of salt, but these issues don't seem to be that serious.
Henry_14
He's probably just taking the opportunity to go home and visit family but still needs treatment so is using his old club. Doubt it's homesickness just making most/taking advantage of being out injured
Coulthard's Jaw
Long flight doesn't seem like the wisest thing to do if you have a dodgy hamstring but what do I know.

llama3
I think I would rather not see Martial vs Mertesacker tbh. If we sit compact and deep then why not? Pace is only dangerous with space to use it.
themadsheep2001
If we sit compact and deep then why not? Pace is only dangerous with space to use it. That's if the person with pace doesn't have the ability to work in space/beat a man with skill. Martial can do both.
AFootballManager
That's if the person with pace doesn't have the ability to work in space/beat a man with skill.Martial can do both. Exactly. Lets not forget what Suarez did now.

PaulHartman71
A replay is the last thing we want at the moment ffs
Coulthard's Jaw
Most of those players aren't exactly overplayed at the moment so an extra game no big deal really.
Kawee
My mother's birthday so I didn't catch the game. I guess I didn't miss much at all? Did we dominate, but failed to finish, or was it one of those slow boring games?
Coulthard's Jaw
Slow boring, have a few chances but nothing we blatantly should have scored.
ajw10
I'm furious after that performance. Welbeck the only attacker that looked threatening. Walcott was a disgrace, movement was awful and sulked when moved out wide after Giroud came on. Alexis decline is alarming. Looked like a pub player when he came on. No touch, bad decisions and run into blind alleys. Joel Campbell is definitely an average player who was in a purple patch.
AFootballManager
Yeah Joel Campbell is actually pretty ****.
Kawee
I think he's a player that needs a run of games. When he was first given a chance, he was pretty bad too. Then because injuries forced us to keep playing him, he got better and better. Might mean he's not a particularly useful play-a-game-here-and-there player.
SJ234
Yeah Joel Campbell isn't good enough like we first thought. Also in his good run he only really produced phenomenal moments rather than any great performances. Most of it was him working hard and then doing some brilliant at one point. Baptista_8
Alexis decline is alarming. Looked like a pub player when he came on. No touch, bad decisions and run into blind alleys. No moments of brilliance to mask his poor-average performances ATM.

Sparky9334
Suspect it will be better today, especially compared to the Hull game.. Of course it'll probably go dead silent when we haven't touched the ball after 15mins and are 2 down...
PaulHartman71
Expecting **** atmosphere again today at the Emirates as it doesn't seem like its improving. Pretty harsh when you consider how much time, money and effort REDACTION put in for the big CL games - they've gone all out again tonight and the atmosphere is generally quite good for the biggest games now thanks largely to them.
Kawee
Last time we play Barcelona, the atmosphere sounded as good as I've ever heard at the Emirates, so I have high expectations.

Coulthard's Jaw
Played so well for most of that, really struggling to score goals at the moment though.
afced7
Hands up who didn't see that coming when we didn't buy a striker. Oh just you Mr Wenger.
Coulthard's Jaw
Who do you buy though? Don't think it's outrageous to expect more goals from someone like Alexis.
ajw10
Goal scoring and DM are the issues. They were the issues at the start of the season and will continue to be until we spend money on them. Can forgive the lack of striker signing. Lack of DM signing is pure negligence.
SteveUK
Expected to get knocked out by Barcelona, would rather just of forfeit the two games and focus on the winnable trophies with the squad we have.
afced7
Who do you buy though? Don't think it's outrageous to expect more goals from someone like Alexis. Cavani? Think Alexis scores enough really, he's been pants recently but just came back from injury so I'm prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt. Sparky9334
Just on train home. Atmosphere was electric at the start. Don't think we deserved to lose that 2-0. Thought ref was bad but that may have been from being in the ground and not seeing some of the decisions again. Ramsey, Monreal my standout players. Wellbeck did well coming on too. Alexis so frustrated at the moment, trying hard but poor decision making
ajw10
Wenger has called the players 'technically average and naive' If that's the case, then whose fault is that Arsene?

Coulthard's Jaw
Ramsey was superb.
SJ234
Yeah no idea how someone thought Ramsey was bad I thought we were good on the most part. Don't think Wenger's comments are wrong. I am happy that this team managed that. Though clear issues remain which prevent us from being able to compete against teams like Barca. I am becoming more and more convinced that Giroud whilst very good and one of the best strikers in the league should be benched, even if in form. SJ234
Hands up who didn't see that coming when we didn't buy a striker. Oh just you Mr Wenger. What striker? As long discussed on here 1) this point is over made as strikers aren't everything 2) who?
Coulthard's Jaw
Theo or Welbeck (preferably) up front would be massively beneficial for Alexis that's for sure. Also Cazorla's imminent return means we can get Ramsey back out wide right. Probably our strongest first 11 if these things happen.
SJ234
Yeah it is our strongest xi as things stand. Even if Ramsey is superior defensively and going forwards to Cazorla
PaulHartman71
Reckon this could be Wenger's last season. His comments come off like a guy who knows this was his last chance to win the CL. Fair play to him if he's just looking for a response at the weekend though - does seem out of character him being that harsh on them however true and fair a criticism it is.
Razzler
Is his number 1 priority really the CL, surely he's be over the moon with a league title win He was rightfully fuming on the touchline when the pen was given away
