Congratulations to In Der Van Dude, who's double over Kazakhstan in the last round of matches for the season helped him leapfrog Ryan Andrews of the Faroe Islands. His 11 goals for the season makes him a deserved winner for this season and he almost broke the 200 point barrier, which could soon become a new landmark barrier for greatness!

A record high scoring season with 4 players beating last season's winning total of 158 points and a record number of 16 players with over 100 points.

Congratulations to Ryan Andrews who at least has the consolation of 2nd Div champion! Well done to Benjas Kyriagkos who won the 3rd Division at a canter and will be a strong contender in the 2nd Div next season if he continues to play for Belgium

Congratulations to Bob McBob, as he picked up his first cap and then scored a hattrick in his 2nd app

against Azerbaijan - making up for lost time!

Disappointment for Brucie Bonus as he is relegated to the 3rd Division. /o\

For past champions, Mike Bird & James Knowles there were varying fortunes, the former being relegated to the 2nd Div, whilst the later followed up his victorious season with a 10th place position in the overall contest.

Yeah any other season and you would easily have made the Top 10, but this season you only get 13th overall due to the greater competition existing nowadays.

I'm kind of hoping for the season when in one division you need 100 points to avoid relegation, but I'm probably being a bit optimistic!! icon_biggrin.gif

My best season for Kazahkstan plus the bonus points were not enough for the title icon_frown.gif

Without the bonus points, I'll probably drop back down next season icon_frown.gif

Still, I like my chances of scoring again against Bulgaria and Azerbijan icon_wink.gif

My Thoughts

Congratulations to In Der Van Dude who has become the 7th different winner of the Eurovision Striking Contest in its 6th season of running, with a record breaking points tally.

Magnus Donaldson again provides stiff competition to the victor, but for the 4th season he has to settle for a top 3 position, but no winners medal. However, as he is only 2 goals away from breaking David Healy's scoring record next season could see him getting those 25 bonus points that gets him over the line.

However, with next season featuring a World Cup, it is the players from the bigger nations that will again come to fore and will probably battling it out for the title.

I have added a new section below of the all time top 10 scores which should hopefully identify the consistent high scorers over time. I have also done an analysis of how many people have broken 100 points each season, which should help identify how the players as a whole group develop over time.

The Race to 100 Caps

Diego Polo became the 1st person to reach a half century of caps and looks likely to stay in the lead provided he is not affected by injuries.

<pre class="ip-ubbcode-code-pre">

1. Diego Polo San Marino 52

2. Robert Dillon Luxembourg 49

4. Ryan Andrews Faroe Islands 47

5. Robert Boyle Estonia 47

The Race to 50 Goals

In the other race between participators that leads to bonus points, the top 5 positions are held by:

<pre class="ip-ubbcode-code-pre">

1. Magnus Donaldson N Ireland 32

2. In Der Van Dude Slovenia 23

3. Diego Polo San Marino 21

4. Chu Haowan Hungary 20

5. Jason Demir Kazakhstan 18

5. Robert Boyle Estonia 18

5. Kyle Van Smith Albania 18

Magnus Donaldson high goalscoring season has meant he has vastly increased his lead over the opposition from 2 goals to 9 goals. He now looks a strong favourite to win the race!

Quite a season for the players overall - most of the top ten scores are from the latest contest! Great season for Jason Demir but still a bit gutting that he finished back in 5th with a total that would have brought the title a couple of seasons back... Time to get some action on the pitch at Ascoli and hone my super stirker skills! icon_biggrin.gif

"Returning from International Duty" - Does that mean I'm at least in the squad? If so then damn Irish manager go and pick me ffs icon_mad.gif.

With 17 Finishing/18 Composure/18 Pace and 17 Heading/16 Jumping I should be scoring a bit more. Decent physical stats though, balance is a little low, that may be why.
