Joe.
Neither Vidal nor Ramirez played in that game, which is odd. Also, Zuñiga had a lower match rating than Ospina, so gimme my keeper back!

vossmaj
Wait, Luxembourg's keeper got sent off after 14 minutes, his replacement was rated <5 and we only won 4-0?! That's unacceptable... Do I have to choose some? Well, ok, I'll take Chanot, the captain. None of the newbies has played so far anyway. I guess I need to beat a strong side like, em, Belarus? tastaiwan
Iceland doing the usual thing, don't mind them. Maybe against Turkey.... Ouch, it hurts even more now that I noticed that we dominated.

Stocke
Not sure if he's good enough for Egypt or not but since his value's high-ish I'll take Marvin Baudry to add a bit of versatility to the defensive line, plus since the South African player slid right into the starting lineup it's possible that center-back might be a bit of a weakness

Just a reminder that those who have to make their selections have 24 hours to do so. The next post will be a rundown on how all our nations are going (Their current world ranking, Form etc.) After this post it will be the African Cup of Nations that Stocke’s Egypt are competing in I am thinking I will just holiday through the whole tournament then post all the results for them and make all the changes after the tournament (As they can’t select someone mid tournament anyway) After this I will continue with the normal updates for all the nations. Stocke
I guess I'll take Zainadine Júnior, taking center-backs every time feels a bit off but I'm really not experienced with any of these Mozambican players so I just have to depend on their value

Joe.
Two poor Colombian results in a row! Weiry
Nations Status Report - End of 2016 (6 Rounds In) Switzerland (Weiry) World Ranking = 19th W/D/L Record: 4/1/1 Squad (Selected to play in Round 5/6) World Cup Qualifying Status: 2nd Comment: A pretty good start for Switzerland against minnow nations like Latvia and Faroe Islands the next two games against Hungary and Portugal will be big. Ex Czech star Vladimir Darida should boost the Swiss midfield stocks India @Sankalan World Ranking = 139th W/D/L Record: 2/2/0 Squad (Selected to play in Round 5/6) World Cup Qualifying Status: Eliminated Comment: Although it may not sound good but the two draws against Jordan and Indonesia have really helped India out. Despite losing two players they have been swapped with two way better players in Syaiful Cahya and Ehsan Haddad who are listed as the two nation’s ‘top’ players now. Abdul Salam Al-Mukhaini is another good pickup and India now have a much improved defence. In 2017 it should be much more competitive with the Asian Cup Qualifiers starting as well as the South Asian Championship being played later in the year. Romania @Muttley84 World Ranking = 17th W/D/L Record: 5/1/0 Squad (Selected to play in Round 5/6) World Cup Qualifying Status: 1st Comment: if Romania can defeat Poland they will be looking good for qualification. Alan Dzagoev, Andreas Christensen and Henrikh Mkhitaryan are three great pickups. The next two games will see Romania come up against Montenegro and then the big game against Poland. Australia @GloryFan2002 World Ranking: 63rd W/D/L Record: 2/2/2 Squad (Selected to play in Round 5/6) World Cup Qualifying Status: 3rd Comment: Australia have been quite disappointing so far and have lost 3 of their star players in Massimo Luongo (South Korea) Mathew Ryan (UAE) and Tom Rogic (Thailand) they will need to get some good results going in their next two games against Japan and Saudi Arabia Sweden @vossmaj World Ranking: 34th W/D/L Record: 4/0/1 Squad (Selected to play in Round 5/6) World Cup Qualifying Status: 2nd Comment: Sweden haven’t had the toughest of opposition so far but this will all change in their next two games against Holland and France. You will think that they will need to win at least one of these games as Belarus and Holland are close behind them. Sead Kolasinac is really the only good pickup so far for Sweden. Belgium @DH. World Ranking: 2nd W/D/L Record: 6/0/0 Squad (Selected to play in Round 5/6) World Cup Qualifying Status: 1st Comment: Belgium are looking favourites to qualify with already an impressive squad they have also brought in Edin Dzeko, Hakim Ziyech and Kostas Manolas who would start in most other nations. Belgium’s next games will be against minnows Gibraltar as well as Bosnia and Herzegovina Iceland @tastaiwan World Ranking: 46th W/D/L Record:1/0/5 Squad (Selected to play in Round 5/6) World Cup Qualifying Status: 6th Comment: Poor Iceland have some mountain to climb if they wish to qualify for the world cup the only nation in their group without a point. The big issue with Iceland is the goalkeeper position they have lost 3 goalkeepers already and now it looks like free agent Ingvar Jonnson will be next up to put the gloves on for his nation but the real question is how many more goalkeepers are left in Iceland?? Colombia @Joe. World Ranking: 6th W/D/L Record: 2/1/2 Squad (Selected to play in Round 5/6) World Cup Qualifying Status: 4th Comment: Oh how promising did Colombia look with the additions of Arturo Vidal and Cristian Ramirez? Unfortunately since they both have started playing Colombia have lost to Venezuela and drawn with Peru. Their next game will be massive against Brazil. Egypt @Stocke World Ranking: 33rd W/D/L Record: 3/1/0 Squad (Selected to play in Round 5/6) World Cup Qualifying Status: 1st Comment: Egypt’s AFCON group consists of Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast and Cape Verde. Quite a tough group but Egypt should make it through and could really profit from this tournament it is looking likely that they will also qualify for the world cup (unless Ghana can stop them) Costa Rica @HawkAussie World Ranking: 29th W/D/L Record: 3/0/0 Squad (Selected to play in Round 5/6) World Cup Qualifying Status: Eliminated Comment: A bit shocked that Costa Rica didn’t progress to the next round of the world cup qualifiers but oh well looks like they will have fun taking on sides like Barbados and Belize in friendlies. USA @oakesypvfc World Ranking: 20th W/D/L Record: 1/1/1 Squad (Selected to play in Round 5/6) World Cup Qualifying Status: 3rd Comment: USA are going ok so far but I am sure they will want to win their next two games against Haiti and rivals Mexico to get a tighter hold on qualification. Russia @Koetzer World Ranking: 50th W/D/L Record: 1/1/1 Squad (Selected to play in Round 5/6) World Cup Qualifying Status: Qualified (Hosts) Comment: Exact same record as USA. Russia have an advantage that they have already qualified for the world cup meaning that they are coming up against nations from all over the world in friendly matches. A good result against England saw them take John Stones to strengthen the defence. Their next scheduled game is against Egypt. Bulgaria @Bliop World Ranking: 98th W/D/L Record: 0/0/0 Squad (Selected to play in Round 5/6) World Cup Qualifying Status: 5th Comment: Bulgaria are yet to officially play in the win one take one game however they have already lost midfielder Ivaylo Chochev to Sweden in an earlier round. Bulgaria will play Luxembourg in their next match. A match I’m sure they will want to win Mexico @ssestig World Ranking: 15th W/D/L Record: 0/0/0 Squad (Selected to play in Round 5/6) World Cup Qualifying Status: 1st Comment: Another new nation to the game. Mexico are sitting top of the CONCACAF world cup qualification and should qualify. Their next two games will be against Jamaica and then USA. They will also take part in the Confederations Cup as well Kosovo @terence123470 https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/1/1f/Flag_of_Kosovo.svg World Ranking: 158th W/D/L Record: 0/0/0 Squad (Selected to play in Round 5/6) World Cup Qualifying Status: 5th Comment: Yet another newcomer to the game. Kosovo are sitting 5th in their group and need to get some wins together to catch up to the rest of the pack. Their next game will be against Iceland in a potential grudge match. In an earlier round iceland lost their starting goalkeeper Hannes Halldorsson to Kosovo now the veteran goalkeeper will be facing a visit from his nation. Will Iceland steal him back? Or will Kosovo do the double on Iceland and bury them? Wales @GDH38 World Ranking: 13th W/D/L Record: 0/0/0 Squad (Selected to play in Round 5/6) World Cup Qualifying Status: 3rd Comment: Wales are 2 points off 1st in their group and their next match against Ireland will be huge. They will also play Serbia who are in pretty bad form. *NEXT UPDATE WILL BE THE AFRICAN CUP OF NATIONS AND THEN IT WILL BE BACK TO NORMAL* also @oakesypvfc receives their first warning for failing to select a player within 24 hours

tastaiwan
Now that Kosovo have a quasi-manager, as far as this signup goes, it's crucial to win or I might lose y best player. The pressure is on! Will we ever win again? Who knows.

Weiry
African Cup of Nations 2017 Egypt @Stocke In real life, Egypt made the final of the AFCON unfortunately this couldn’t translate over to Football Manager with the side being knocked out in the group stage. The Pharaohs finished 3rd in the group which contained Ivory Coast, Cape Verde and Burkina Faso. Let's see their results Game 1 Draw 1-1 with Burkina Faso Egypt’s Trezeguet is swapped with Burkina Faso’s Adama Sawadogo (Using a random generator) Game 2 Won 1-0 against Ivory Coast Please choose ONE player to join Egypt Game 3 Lost 3-1 against Cape Verde Loses Thulani Hlatshwayo to Cape Verde (This will be his third nation!!) This was the final group stage table after the 3 games. In the end, The 2017 African Cup of Nations was won by Algeria who defeated Morocco in the final 2-1. 3rd place was won by Ivory Coast who defeated Cape Verde also 2-1. The aftermath of the AFCON is not good for Egypt as they have now sacked their manager The next update will hopefully include everyones nations
Stocke
Shame Egypt couldn't make it out of the group, but beating Ivory Coast is a good result; not too bothered to lose Thulani as he'd been poor anyway, think I'll take Franck Kessié as his youth (plus the fact that he can play both center-back and center-mid so he can double as a replacement for both Thulani and Trezeguet, at least I think Trezeguet's a center-mid?) could come in handy was tempted to go for Aurier or Bailly but Omar Gaber's been tearing it up at right-back and I've already taken a lot of center-backs even if they haven't necessarily been very good ones

tastaiwan
I can already imagine the absolute demise of Icelandic football... Open your history books, kids, and turn to Chapter 58. We call this post-Brexit era «Mikill Knattspyrnuferilinn Fólksflutninga». All our footballers left, and despite defeating England in the Euro Cup 2016, over five decades ago, we never rose to such heights again. In fact, nowadays we're still looking for a goalkeeper who doesn't leave our nation in a horrid show of disloyalty. @Muttley84 Welcome to the party!
