I've already posted this in my current career thread, but I know there are some people who are not following it at the moment but are nevertheless going to be interested to hear that, so here goes.

In May I'm going to Tallinn for a six-day study visit at FCI Levadia. I'll be observing the training process and games of both the first team and the academy. My mentor is going to be the academy's head of methodology and I'll be meeting him daily for various presentations and discussions as well. It's still up in the air whether I'll be going alone or as part of a group, although I'd very much prefer the former as it would give me much bigger access, potentially even including the opportunity to get actively involved in some training sessions. With the end of the season approaching, it may not be a bad idea to expand my network!

Happy Easter, FMCU!

You should do a Youtube series playing FM but also talking about your real life coaching experiences. I think it would be fairly unique and would do well.

Maybe you're right, but I don't think I'm a Youtube kind of person. That kind of stuff requires a bit too much time and effort, especially combined with all the stuff related to my work. Good shout though, maybe at some point in the future, who knows?

You could probably do one episode a week.

Record 45 minutes and then edit it down to 30 minutes.

Should only take an hour of your time if you can spare it.

I am currently a bit bored with my career save at Duisburg.

Thinking of doing a one club save with a local club.

Luton Town (Born & Bred)

Crawley Green (Area of Luton I grew up)

Hemel Hempstead (My new home town)

Bishop's Stortford (Mum's Birthplace)

Ampthill Town (My upcoming Wedding  Ceremony)

Been a while, how're you keeping?

Finally playing FM again following a trip the past weekend. If I can stick to it, I shall start a thread.

Party on, dudes.

I just wanted to say a brief apology for pulling the Fiorentina save. It just didn't feel right, I am playing with Nantes (much more youth to develop) and will provide an update once I am totally confident it has stuck. I hate to waste your time, as well as my own!

No worries! I hope you find Joy in a new save and share it with us!

Could you still share/send your Fiorentina tactic please? If you still have it of course!

No need to apologize. I enjoy your content and find it insightful even if the save didn't stick.

Greetings from Tallinn! As I mentioned before, I've finally arrived here for a study visit at the FCI Levadia academy (with some contact with the first team as well). Today was the first day and I'm really impressed by the methodology they're implementing and the direction they're trying to go. Obviously it's going to take time, but this could be a very interesting club to follow.

The sacking of Poch at Chelsea has made me wonder about doing a Chelsea save. (Yes seriously). With all the players that Chelsea have and all the young players, the challenge wouldn't just be success, but keeping your job long enough to have success, (especially doing a Youth Only save).

I've never had cause to play a "Real World" save, but this surely would be the opportunity, (with all the transfers they have made). Interesting...... Could be pretty short-lived.

Anyone else loving the new format. 😍

I've got to admit that I didn't like it at all to start with, but now it's actually grown on me and while the font isn't aesthetically pleasing, it is at least clear, so no complaints from me.

Are there any interesting leagues I could do for the Youth Academy Challenge?

When I've looked at this in the past I've always been put off by managing clubs with single leagues.

I recently had the idea of doing a Youth Only Pentagon challenge, and it's actually not as unrealistic as it sounds.

South Africa are the only African Nation in the game out of the box, (but luckily they have 2 leagues available).

The 2 leagues thing is less of an issue now because you can use an edited database, but also you could theoretically use an edited database from the previous version of the game if need be.

South Africa
China, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, South Korea
Mexico
Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Uruguay
Belarus, Bulgaria, Czechia, Finland, Hungary, Iceland, Israel, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine

Not really sure who I would pick from South America.

I've just had a video come up on my recommendations on YouTube and it's actually quite remarkable.

It's by @TomFM who has quite a likable delivery style and it's called the Ross County Challenge and he called it the "Most RIDICULOUS challenge in Football Manager". I scoffed at this but still pressed play so that I could comment that I have completed far more ridiculous challenges than that.....

It turns out that the challenge is to take over Ross County and only sign players with Ross in their name, (although you could keep players who were already at the club until their contracts expire, or you sell them).

In addition to that, players such as Leandro Trossard wouldn't be eligible as a "Ross signing", because the Ross part of his name isn't prominent enough. The late great Paolo Rossi, (of 1982 World Cup fame), or the much more recent Giuseppe Rossi (of Man Utd, Villarreal and Italy), would however be eligible. If I was doing this save I would argue for the inclusion of the likes of Trossard and even the inclusion of players such as Pascal Groß of Brighton, (because Groß is pronounced like Gross in English), but that's by the way. You get the idea.

If anyone is stuck for a save or an idea then this might help them, and if not Ross County then maybe another club but along similar lines. St Johnstone with John or something Stone related in the name is perhaps easier.

Anyway, the whole challenge seems to have been edited really concisely into a single video, so it might be something some of you lot in here might enjoy.

Ross County (SCO)
St Johnstone (SCO)
Stevenage (ENG)
Barry Town (WAL)
Willem II (NED) (Will, Willy, William, or Bill)
O'Higgins (CHI) are named after Jorge O'Higgins so you could do it with George or Jorge or anyone with an O' surname.
Accrington Stanley (ENG) That would be a bit tough.
Oldham (ENG) Only players aged over a certain age.
Partick Thistle (SCO) Patrick?
Peterhead (SCO) Peter & Pete.
Fort William (SCO) (See Willem II above).
St Pauli (GER) Paul, Pavel, Pavlos etc
Carl Zeiss Jena (GER) Carl, Karl, Karol & Charles.

I'm sure there are loads more.

I was looking for teams with my name Mark in them, found quite a few, liked ASV Neumarkt as they are German, also found Craigmark in Scotland lol, so 2 names to go with there.

Alright guys. It's time for some news, and honestly this is pretty ****ing big.

In a few days I'm starting a new job as an analyst for the Polish FA School of Coaches. I'll be responsible for some of the federation's analytical and educational projects, including coordinating the specialist course in performance analysis that I'm doing right now from the next edition onwards. In addition to that, I'll also do plenty of work connected to English-Polish translation and teaching English at top level courses like UEFA Pro, UEFA Elite Youth A and a bunch of specialist courses. This means lots of opportunities to travel around Europe and work with top level professionals.

To give you some perspective, the previous guy who held this position was included in the Polish national team's staff for the Euros and now he's leaving to become the assistant coach of the Legia Warsaw first team. This feels like a huge step up, I'm pretty damn excited. :D

I look forward to creating you as a manager on FM26 lol.

Jokes aside congrats. I always enjoy your posts about your career in football.

Haha, thank you! :D It feels amazing to get there from absolutely nowhere, inspired by FM and tactical knowledge gained mostly from reading the forums back in the day! Hopefully that's just the beginning of the journey. After all, I still haven't made it to the game's database, so there's something to work towards. :brock:

I think it's fair to say that some of their players will be getting a decent upgrade for FM25,

I can't pronounce ANY of their names, but them and Austria have really impressed me so far this tournament.

Yeah I have started calling the players by their first names or just given them nicknames which is usually shorter versions of their name.

At the moment really hard to find any time to play FM or even produce content. Will try to get at least one update done this week on my Torino career update.

My holiday starts tomorrow but as the in-laws are visiting us this month, it ain't going to give me any extra time for FM.

Wedding planning, running and relatives. Time consuming areas in life.

I just saw this tweet and I wonder if working out who was whom might create some background for some FM25 save ideas.

cd8195e4a3efd7900ec98d26b8e67786.png

The Romanian 2nd Division side would appear to be SC Corvinul 1921 Hunedoara who won the Romanian Cup in 23/24 while in the Romanian 2nd Division. A club that has been folded again and again for financial irregularities, they haven't been in the top flight in Romania since the 91/92 season and until this season have only played 1 season of European football, (in 82/83), where thy beat Grazer AK of Austria 4-1 on aggregate and then lost 8-4 to FK Sarajevo of what was Yugoslavia back then but is now Bosnia.

I think the "Pub Team" is Magpies of Gibraltar, (who beat Derry City 2-0 yesterday).

Sheriff Tiraspol are from the unrecognised state of Transnistria, (no that isn't a woke joke).

FC Mislami of Moldova are the Moldovan club who's owner Ilan Shor stole 12% of the Nations GDP during a 2014 Moldovan bank fraud, before becoming a Mayor of a moldovan Town, (Orhei). He was then banned from Moldovan politics, (for 5 years), in July of this year, before his links with Russia caused him to be put on a Assets control list by the USA
