The links not working. Based on the description though, not sure it's worth paying an extra £100 for if you're only going to play FM. The CPU looks a bit better, but I think that one uses a Hard Drive whereas the one at box uses an SSD which will make things quicker on its own. You also don't need a dedicated GPU for FM. The other consideration is I believe laptops direct only offer a 3 month warranty on their refurb units, which I'd be wary of. If you want to look at refurb units, look at http://www.laptopstation.co.uk who offer a 12 month warranty on refurbed laptops.

Rino72.
Well after 10 years, my Mac has decided to bite the dust and am on the look out for a replacement. I've came across this one but am just wondering if this would be able to handle FM2020 on highest 3D graphics settings? Also usually play with 7-9 leagues loaded and a large database with facepacks etc... If you want to spend the money on the Mac - go for the i5 procesor - and the 560x is a slightly better graphics card. Get 8gb RAM - but you can order RAM for much cheaper to bring it up to 16gb - which I recommend - don't add RAM on the Mac site - it's a rip-off. You can buy it yourself, and there's easy access panels to replace it.

When it comes to FM, a dedicated graphics card is not important. I was playing FM19 on a laptop with integrated graphics and it ran smoothly even at high graphics quality settings. If you're also playing other games then you will need to consider a dedicated graphics card. But if FM is the only game you play then you will easily do without it. zakbrown96
@kevhamster thank you for that just ordered the Dell thought with the graphic card and an newer processor I’ll get probably an extra 3 years out of it
liverpool-fc
Thinking about the HP that was recommended earlier. Just out of interest, how would this MacBook Air cope with FM2020? https://www.johnlewis.com/2017-apple-macbook-air-13-3-intel-core-i5-8gb-ram-128gb-pcie-based-ssd/p3081001?sku=236643138&&s_kwcid=2dxLIA-EHT&tmad=c&tmcampid=2&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIhcC_1rPM5QIVxLTtCh13gwmuEAQYASABEgLup_D_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds Has an i5 processor which should provide good CPU processing? I'm not very well versed with Macs, but it's only a 6th generation I5 which is a little outdated these days.

Ok scrap that idea then! Finally, today I’ve had a look at some of the 15.6” machines, and noticed many offer dedicated graphics cards for roughly the same price e.g. https://www.box.co.uk/FX504GD-E41275T-ASUS-TUF-FX504GD-E41275T_2458989.html My question is: if I could put up with the bigger size, what kind of advantage does this give me in terms of running games? Will it be significantly better than the HP 13” laptop highlighted earlier or not much difference? Thanks for all the advice, very helpful! It has dedicated graphics which is required for many modern games, of course it does depend what games you're thinking of playing. For example, this system would probably handle Fallout 4 quite nicely but I'm not sure the GPU would handle the upcoming PC version of Red Dead Redemption 2. It would be very good for FM though! Slightly higher base clock speed and more RAM. They are both pretty decent though.
Gee_Simpson
Posted this in the FM19 Performance thread but it's probably better off in here. Getting that itch to upgrade again after managing to sell all my parts (including a i9 9900k). I made a loss of around £80 in total because I didn't return the items quick enough, so I had to sell them all on ebay I only play FM and that's it, I would be upgrading exclusively for FM, I don't use a PC for much else really, browsing, iTunes etc just standard stuff. I have no plan to play any other game, I prefer consoles and will buy the PS5. Considering the AMD 3900x but again it seems like Intel reigns supreme for exclusively FM, so again probably only considering either the i9 9900k or the i7 9700k. Not sure if there's much point in buying the i9 over the i7 really, over £100 difference between the two and the i9 runs very hot. GPU I had lined up was the GeForce 1660 but that's very much overkill for FM. The reason for this is mostly because I plan to get around 6 or 7 years out of this system without upgrading like I have with my current system (i7 3770, 8GB initially but upgraded to 16 recently, GeForce GT 640 which is now very old).
