I'm a graphic designer too - and I use a PC as they are much cheaper - but there can be cross platform issues with fonts, but workable and I have no issues on PC. Much better spec than a Mac for much cheaper price. If there's specific Mac only applications you use - that's fair enough. But all of Adobe Creative Cloud works cross platform. This is the cheapest MacBook - a 16 inch screen https://www.apple.com/uk/shop/buy-mac/macbook-pro/16-inch-space-grey-2.6ghz-6-core-processor-512gb# And it's nowhere near as good. It's up to yourself. Mr Tom
Is it worth getting a desktop with a 9100f and 1650 or 3200G with a 1650. Or is getting a laptop with a Ryzen 4500u better? SI Staff EdL Posted September 11, 2020 SI Staff Share Posted September 11, 2020 https://www.cpubenchmark.net/compare/Intel-i3-9100F-vs-AMD-Ryzen-3-3200G-vs-AMD-Ryzen-5-4500U/3461vs3497vs3702 I'll add though thats not the whole picture as comparing different class CPU's over a longer period is tricky the 4500U is a low power processor so althoguh the quickest it will also be the most likely to throttle performance due to overheating Other caveat is generally the single threaded performance is the key for FM which is much closer between the three. Perosnally I'm more of a desktop person, but really it depends what you want, I wouldn't expect vast differences between the 3 options.

Would i be safer saving some cash and just going for a Gaming laptop? Thanks for your time. J I'd go with a gaming laptop, as whilst the processor is decent enough on that 2-in-1, it doesn't have a dedicated graphics card which will limit you in how good the matches will look. I'd suggest something like this instead: https://www.currys.ie/ieen/computing/laptops/laptops/asus-tuf-fx505dt-15-6-gaming-laptop-intel-core-i5-gtx-1650-512-gb-ssd-10205615-pdt.html Cheaper, the processor base and turbo speeds are faster, and it has a decent dedicated graphics card. It has less RAM, but RAM isn't as important for FM as single-core processor speed. It'll be capable of running at least 5 leagues easily.

If you want that specific CPU though, this one is specced pretty much identically, aside from the graphics card being the next model down and is over £100 less. It looks like the display is a lower refresh rate, but if you're not playing FPS games that is unlikely to make a difference to you. timtim11
Hi, looking at a new laptop specifically for work and FM. I want to be able to load 10-15 leagues and have decent graphics. I have about £650 to spend. Please could anyone recommend anything please.

Yeah ideally i want that CPU or Ryzen 7, but the 7's are over what i want to pay & the 4600H performs really well according to the benchmark link from the 1st page. The one you linked, as you say doesnt have as good as display and it only has 256SSD, ideally i want at least 512SSD. I'd call that very good indeed. I must admit I had totally missed the smaller SSD on the other one, so apologies. I have a laptop with an older generation Ryzen 5 (the 2500u) without a dedicated graphics card and even that runs FM very nicely, so there's no reason to doubt this will do a great job, and it will play most other games to a decent standard too. Decided to go for the Lenovo Ryzen 5 4600H, in case I get the urge to play some other games and I also thought it was more ' future proof' than the Acer.
