Honestly, I still wouldn't.  Only just meets the base clock requirements for FM21, and below for FM20 and before.  Again, low TDP means it will get throttled.

Doesn't mean it won't run the game, but I'd prefer to err on the side of caution in case you spend that money and find out the performance isn't satisfactory.

As you gave your budget in Euros, link me some sites that cell laptops in your country and I'll see if I can find anything that would be suitable.

I live in Netherlands. So my options are : www.mediamarkt.nl / www.wehkamp.nl / www.coolblue.nl

The HP on Amazon by some distance.  Considerably stronger processor, same graphics card and £60 less.

The only downside is the smaller storage, but as long as you don't need huge amounts of space then the HP is definitely the one to go for.

Although, this one I linked in my previous reply to you is the same spec, but £50 lower still: https://www.box.co.uk/FX505GT-BQ008T-ASUS-TUF-Gaming-FX505GT-BQ008T_2940903.html

thanks again Kev. just want to make sure I get the right one

how would this graphics card/processor run the match engine and FM21 in general? also 16GB Ram so more than the others ive looked at in that price range

Worse than the previous ones - you have an ultra low power variant of the Ryzen chip and no dedicated graphics card.  I honestly don't know why that one is priced so high.

Yep, better CPU still.

Although, unless you want the 17" screen, I'd be more tempted by this: https://www.box.co.uk/1L6F6EAABU-HP-Pavilion-Gaming-15-ec1007na_2958258.html

Very similar in single core performance between both, but multicore performance seems stronger in this one.  Plus, you get double the storage space and it's £50 less.

We got something? Maybe u can give me a example with couples laptops like u know that they will be perfectly fine and also with good price ? I will try to find them in NL

I looked at those sites, not a huge amount on there I'd consider decent within that price range.  A lot of them are the new Intels clocked low like the ones you linked.

Based on what's within that price range, the best one at least to my eyes is this: https://www.coolblue.nl/product/861465/acer-aspire-3-a315-23-r1k8.html

Truth be told though, there's not a huge amount in it between that and the i7 CPU you mentioned - on https://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-Processors-Benchmark-List.2436.0.html? the Ryzen 5 3500U is currently ranked 220th and the i7 228th, so they are quite similar in performance based on that.

It was a bit of trial and error as I don't understand Dutch and the translate function in Chrome wasn't working for me!  But thankfully, I was able to get my head round enough to navigate the sites!

I would say it really depends on what you're being charged for it.

You've got a 5 year old CPU in there.  Not a bad one in fairness and it still holds up reasonably well.  The graphics card is also a few years old, but the GTX 970 was pretty much top of the range when it came out I believe and would still be fine for FM's graphics.

In fairness, looking at notebookcheck, that CPU does score more highly (180th place), and coming with a dedicated graphics card is a nice bonus.

Taking everything into account, it does appear to be a stronger system.  I'm assuming this is a refurbished unit given the parts being used, so make sure you're happy with the warranty, assuming it comes with one.

Without warranty... hmmm not easy to find something on budget and also good for FM 21. I will continue looking. Thank U so much for help. U are a great guy 👍🏻

Out of the two, the HP is better I think, but for the same price I'd choose this over it: https://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/gaming/pc-gaming/gaming-laptops/asus-tuf-fx505dt-15-6-gaming-laptop-intel-core-i5-gtx-1650-512-gb-ssd-10205615-pdt.html

You get a stronger CPU and a dedicated graphics card with the same amount of storage.

The HP does have twice the RAM, but I'd choose the stronger CPU over more RAM.

I'd steer clear of the Acer as the CPU has a very low base clock speed.

hi,  the one you recommended isn't available for delivery or collection in my area from currys :seagull:

could i please get your opinion on this one if possible. https://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/computing/laptops/laptops/hp-14s-dq1505sa-14-laptop-intel-core-i7-512-gb-ssd-silver-10203392-pdt.html

I wouldn't recommend it. That one has a very low clock speed and the TDP of 12 to 15w suggests it would get throttled under load, which isn't what you want for FM.

If you can bear with me, I'll look at what I originally recommended and I'll see if i can find something equivalent in terms of price and spec.

How come other thread is closed surely makes life easier with a new year to start afresh. Keep up the great work all as you’ve helped me and hundreds of others find the perfect laptop for them in this very thread!

The Pavillion is the one I'd go for out of those two.  Although the Ryzen 7 based laptop has higher RAM, it's also an ultra low power processor so more likely to be throttled under load.

Also, it has a dedicated graphics card so will perform the 3D match engine at the highest settings.

BUT; You can get one here for the same price with twice the storage: https://www.box.co.uk/1L6F6EAABU-HP-Pavilion-Gaming-15-ec1007na_2958258.html

The graphics card isn't quite as strong (GTX 1650 as opposed to the Ti version on the one in John Lewis) but if you're not playing other games the standard 1650 will be ample.

I’ve just seen these 2 , which would be better

Hi @kevhamster

I am looking for the best laptop in Ireland under €400. I know that isn't much but I will only be using it for Football Manager. Thank you

I'm not familiar with what sites sell in Ireland so if you can provide some links I can take a look a bit later on.
