I don't know how any game would fare based on specs of the computer alone, but that processor is similar to a 2nd generation processor, and we are moving into the 8th/9th gen of processors.

However, it is above minimum spec so should be ok. It would depend on how many leagues and database size that you load.

I don't think anyone can really answer that as it's entirely down to personal preference.

I currently have 8 European countries (all divisions) loaded on my main game.  Some people will want more. Some will be happy with fewer.

It's the processor. The games min spec is 2.2ghz.

Hi there I’m looking at purchasing a laptop that will allow me to play FM without it being to time consuming (as we all know it can be) without breaking the bank. Could anyone recommend any sound budget laptops (can be refurbished) that would allow for 4-5 star performance, speed and graphics?

So I'm totally inept when it comes to computer specs and knowing what they mean. I'd like to know what it means when it states processor speed of "2.3 GHz / 4.0 GHz"? Which one is it, 2.3 or 4.0 lol!? From reading I kinda gather that the 4.0 is a 'turbo speed' but do I have to opt to use that in a settings menu or something, or will it just kick in as and when? I don't want to splash out on a laptop if the processing speed is just over the minimum suggested spec for the majority of the time...

I'm looking for a new Laptop to run FM on but also a laptop that can function as my Uni notebook, hence I don't want a big LED display monster. I would like to run a Journeyman next year with all the leagues so I would like a killer laptop for that if possible. My budget is around 3000 GDP I would say (Doesn't mean I have to use them, right)

How will the laptops fare with the next FM games to come (guesses) and what do you recommend? (I know some will blast me for the MacBook, but I'm used to the system and I fancy it quite a lot)

That would be fine.

The computer handles the speed of the processor, you don't need to do anything. 

The min specs for the game are 2.2ghz on Windows, and this processor is 2.3ghz. Which is above minimum spec. The turbo boost will kick in when it can and potentially get up to 4.0ghz. 

Keys to this is keeping the laptop cool, buying a laptop cooler would be recommended, not only does it blow air into the computer to circulate and keep it cool, but it also props it up off charis, sofas, beds, etc. where the vents could suck in dust, clogging the air vents and causing overheating.

Thank you for the help!

1) This is good and should be fine for most FM needs - the graphics card is a bit weak for the processor, but in terms of FM it's perfectly fine.

2)  The processor and graphics card here is a much better pairing.

3) Same as no.1

4) Same as no. 1

5) Much better processor and I would go for this - if you can get the 1070 graphics card instead - as the 1050 would be too weak and cause bottlenecks.

6) Apple Mac - very expensive for what they are the graphics card is terrible, which will cause problems with processing as there will be a bottleneck.

 

If you can afford the Mac - then you can afford to get no.5 with the 1070 graphics card - that would be fantastic for FM.

If not then go for No.2

I wouldn't say it would play without any problems. It's an old laptop processor, circa 2012. It's not a modern PC. 

Typically paying between €700-€1000 for a laptop - €200 is very very cheap.

Looking at playing all the RTS games to decent specs plus FM and my lad plays Fortnite etc

Would probably prefer a laptop but if better for a desktop then will look at those options

Great processor for all games, solid graphics card for RTS games, decent amount of RAM, and has both a large standard hard drive and a solid-state drive for fast booting and putting a couple of games on for fast loading.

For a desktop, I'd go with something like these, though note they don't come with monitors, etc, you'd have to provide them yourself or buy them as well: https://www.cyberpowersystem.co.uk/system/Ultra-5-RTX-Gaming-PC - https://www.cyberpowersystem.co.uk/system/Infinity-X66-RTX-Gaming-PC

The desktops are better than the laptop for performance, but obviously aren't mobile.

Would you say that and the Omen are the best around for the 1k price range ?

Some reviews for the Omen mentioned it gets hot and said about the battery life 

Im a complete novice with what to look out for with specs . I would like one that plays fm with loads of leagues and can handle RTS like total war series to high specs

It is ok. It is old. Older less longevity. Should work. Read opening post

That'd do a good job for FM - good processor, decent amount of RAM, and decent mid-level graphics card. What budget do you have (in case we can find a better one for the same price)?

My budget is around 450-500 pounds.

I will only really be using the laptop for FM2019 and general browsing/YouTube. I won't be playing any other games on it.

I’ve a limited budget for a replacement laptop (£425 max, ideally more like £350) Refurbished is ok though. I play FM mostly on desktop so this laptop is for cross save and therefore slower is ok as mostly used when travelling. Though my main desktop save will have all U.K. lower leagues and a fair number of foreign ones on large database... Other than FM the other game I play is World of Warcraft. Again, this would just be for secondary use for that, desktop for longer sessions.
 
Key for me besides budget:
14inch ish screen. (Def not 15.6)
Good battery life
Portable (as also use for work and when away from home)
 
Any of these okay for FM19? Which would you pick? 
Or any alternate recommendations?
 
3) New Lenovo Ideapad 330s
 
4) New Lenovo v330:
(Smaller battery I think here? :( )
 
Am I right in thinking I should go for no4 as the ryzen 5 chip’s onboard graphics will give me that bit more both for 3D FM matches (lower detail is ok) and WoW? Tis also new rather than refurbished and has 256ssd.
