2029 Preseason

Short, but decent preseason.

Transfers

Rowan Metcalfe (Oldham) - Josh Sparrow (Keighley) - Ian Seager (Rotherham) - Damien Jones (York) - Jeremy Hurst (Barnsley) - Derek Smalley (Burnley)

A busy transfer window, but one with a couple of errors. I had a brain fade and signed Baldwin and Finnigan from Leeds even though they were born in Hull and Sheffield respectively. What happened was I think I got confused with the fact that Hull and Sheffield are both in Yorkshire. Easy mistake to make, but to make amends I pissed them off as quickly as possible and that enabled me to sell them before featuring in a game for us.

Apart from that, Woods joins us permanently, Nichols gets a second loan stint, Metcalfe appears to be a mistake as he doesn't have much room for improvement, Sparrow, Jones & Hurst are depth pieces, but Smalley, a current U19 international, is the jewel in the crown. He can't finish, but I'm hoping his pace can be a major contributing factor in putting the goals away.

A couple of development loans, and as previously mentioned I sold Baldwin and Finnigan ASAP. Baldwin appears to have some value though, and I've capitalised on that with a 40% sell on fee.

Predicted to go straight back down. Would we expect anything less? Persoanlly I just want to beat the drop in any way possible.

September 2029

A poor month, but 2 good wins keep us in a decent position. We've also kept our yearly tradition of failing in the Checkatrade trophy, especially in this case in which we beat the same team weeks earlier 4-1.

We also signed this Accrington born Liverpool keeper on loan, and he's already scored :D

This is a great challenge, I've played FM this way for many years, I either do youth academy only or, if I allow myself to sign players, It's always those that were born locally. Great read, keep it up.

Thanks mate, it's definitely adding to the longevity of the save!

November 2029

Our fantastic run of form continues, including a win in the EFL Trophy against a team we probably should lose to.

Transfers

Gavin Field (Oldham)

An excellent coup for the side, picked up after Oldham released him. Slots straight into the first team at AM.

December 2029

A tough month in which we played superior opponents, but we've made the 3rd Round of the FA Cup and still hanging around the playoffs. We are also in the midst of a takeover as I have done our best to cripple the club financially and the chairman has had enough.

January 2030

A very difficult beginning to the new decade, but a good win against Wycombe restores some morale.

2 keeprs on the move this transfer window, sold Debenham-Waterfall to Championship side Oxford, so perhaps he's got some potential. I managed to negotiate a 50% sell on fee just in case.

April 2030

We did ourselves no favours with draws to Scunthorpe and Blackpool, but a big win against Luton gives us one last shot to get into the playoffs.

5th placed Charlton play 20th placed Sunderland.

6th placed Preston play 1st placed Chesterfield.

7th placed Notts County are away at 23rd placed Crewe.

8th placed us play 13th placed Rotherham.

The odds seem against us, but we'll give it a good crack.

Alas, it was not to be :( Even if we won our game it wouldn't have been enough. That being said, we were expected to be relegated. One game from the playoffs is a brilliant effort!

2030 Preseason

8d727c8304bf265d9a5a16239a33974b.png

Pretty decent preseason in which we ventured no more than 30 miles away.

7ea7f19ebab30f1b2cf40bfc6cd08b99.png

SNapped Nichols up on a free after the good work he's done for us on loan the last few years. and Smalley re-joins us on loan. Parry is a long term project, and Bennett and Vann are two promising defenders that will hopefully feature.

Darryl Parry (Leeds) - Lee Bennett (Wakefield) - Shane Vann (Barnsley)

We needed 9 points from our 5 league games this month, and we got 7. Did the board have any sympathy for us given all that has happened during my stint at Guiseley?

These guys are apparently loyal to me, but it doesn't matter.

Unfortunately this is the end of the save. It would've been nice to continue on but that run of form set me up for failure. I got this club promoted from 3 divisions, but exceeding expectations so early only makes them harder. Add that to a completely new chairman coming in which didn't help things.

Nevertheless, I enjoyed my time on this save and I hope you guys did too :D

I have another idea for a save that will be up shortly, so stay tuned (or don't)

That's the best thing about it, I like to handicap myself otherwise it is way too easy. I saw someone post their team, West Brom two seasons in and just won promotion - playing Haaland and Dembele - not for me.
