Pavi
In FM18 I made my longest save ever with Falkirk, stayed at the club for 18 years, winning one UCL and two Europa Leagues, plus multiple domestic trophies. Stuniverse
Come on Ye Bairns! Looks like the hotfix is out. I know SI say they are working on and in-save fix but, to be on the safe side, I’m going to start a new save. This may mean I’ll have to EDIT some of the posts above (e.g. the Alloa Athletic friendly) in which case I’ll clearly mark them as EDITED. Stuniverse
GOOD NEWS - I'm all caught up I've restarted the save with Lee Miller and David McCracken added to Falkirk's first team coaching staff (appointed as Interim Coaching Staff on 19 November in real-life) the only Falkirk changes in the database. As for the save progression, events proceeded pretty much as they did before. I started unemployed with Continental A Licence and Professional Footballer (Regional) - as recommended for Falkirk - with the default managerial style focus. I attended the interview with Lex Miller, interim chairman; rejected the Accrington Stanley interview (after John Coleman took the Barnsley job); and accepted the Falkirk job offer to become their manager. This time round, there was no friendly match prior to my appointment so I deleted the (phantom) post above about Alloa Athletic defeating Falkirk 2-0. So good to go again... Come on, Ye Bairns! Stuniverse
Game date: 7 July 2019 STUNIVERSE MAKES GOOD FIRST IMPRESSION BairnsNews understand from unnamed sources at the club that Falkirk manager Stuniverse made a good impression on the Bairns players at the first Team Meeting. Stuniverse told his players that they were good enough to win Ladbrokes League 1 and that was exactly what they should be aiming for. Stuniverse
Game date: 7 July 2019 FALKIRK - PRESS CONFERENCE Falkirk Football Chronicle BairnsNews: What made you choose Falkirk? Stuniverse: The Chairman offered me the job [laughs]. Well, to be honest, we came to Falkirk on holiday in the summer and fell in love with the place. My wife loved the Kelpies that are just across the way there. In my mind, Falkirk are a Premiership side and it's our job to get The Bairns back there. Sky Sports News BairnsNews: The Board are expecting you to win the Division. Is that realistic? Stuniverse: We're in League 1 and we want to get back to the Premiership. To do that, we have to gain promotion to the Championship first. We have a good squad of players here and I'm confident they can get the job done. Scottish Football Express BairnsNews: What are your thoughts on Falkirk not having a Youth Academy? Stuniverse: Well, it's the way the Board have chosen to go. It's not the direction most Football Clubs go in but that doesn't mean a great deal. It's an interesting choice but it's the way the club is set-up. BairnsNews: Interesting indeed, given that the club culture is also to sign players under the age of 23 for the first team? Stuniverse: Yes. I knew that when I took the job. The Board want to run this club a certain way and I understand that. Falkirk Football Chronicle BairnsNews: It's only a friendly against Stirling University but are you looking forward to your first game in charge tomorrow? Stuniverse: Yes. Of course. The players have looked good in training but you only really find out about them in game situations. Tomorrow we'll look to give everybody a 45 minute run out and then take it from there for the next friendly and then the Betfred Cup games. FourFourTwo BairnsNews: Any truth in the rumours you'll have a few trialists in the team against Stirling Uni? Stuniverse: Maybe. You'll have to wait and see. Stuniverse
Game date: 8th July 2019 Pre-match v Stirling University (H) - Friendly (1) Match Preview BairnsNews: How do you approach this one? Is it about fitness, performance, or winning? Stuniverse: I've only been here a couple of days so it's mainly about fitness as we plan on giving 22 players 45 minutes each. It's also about performance, to an extent, to see if the players are taking on board what we want from them and whether this system suits them. But yes, I won't lie, a win would be nice. Team Selection Doubtful: Denny Johnstone (knee - 45 mins) BairnsNews: No place for Johnstone today? Stuniverse: Denny is still recovering from his knee injury. Our medical team reckon we can get 45 minutes out of him but there's no point taking risks this early in the season. BairnsNews: Three trialists on the bench. What can you tell us about them? Stuniverse: Timi Elsnik is an attacking midfieder and Simon Dawkins is a left-winger. Both are free agents. Mo Adams is a defensive midfielder from Atalanta United in the USA. We heard he might be interested in a return to the UK. Post-match: Falkirk (0) 1-1 (0) Stirling University BairnsNews: I know you said this wasn't about winning but you must've expected to win against a University side? Stuniverse: I thought we did more than enough to win. We defended well, moved the ball well, and created more than enough chances to win the game. But we didn't get enough attempts on target and that's something we'll need to work harder at and do better. When David McMillan gave us the lead late on, I thought we thoroughly deserved to be ahead and, but for a freak own goal off Timi Elsnik, we would've won the match. BairnsNews: Will you be looking to sign any of the trialists? Stuniverse: I thought all three of them did well but it's too early to say whether we can do a deal for any of them. Please LIKE if you enjoyed this update and FOLLOW the thread so you don't miss future updates. Edited November 19, 2019 by Stuniverse

Stuniverse
Game date: 12 Jul 2019 MACDONALD JOINS BAIRNS FOR THE SEASON BairnsNews: New manager Stuniverse secured his first signing for Falkirk today when he brought in 21 year-old left-back Calum Macdonald for the season on loan from Blackpool.
Stuniverse
Game date: Saturday 13th July 2019 Pre-match v Alloa Athletic (a) - Friendly (2) Match Preview BairnsNews: You've made your first loan signing in Macdonald. What will he bring to the team? Stuniverse: Calum is a good, young left-back who will bring an energy to our game. I saw him play a lot for the U23s at Derby and I was surprised when they sold him to Blackpool this summer. I was even more surprised when Blackpool were willing to loan him out. Once I knew that, we worked hard to get the deal done. Team Selection Doubtful: Denny Johnstone (knee - 45 mins) BairnsNews: Another 45 minutes for the players today? Stuniverse: No. We'll look to give the starters around an hour today and then mix things up a little bit after that depending on fitness levels. BairnsNews: Alloa play in the Championship, one division above you. What sort of a test are you expecting today? Stuniverse: We're expecting a tough game, obviously. Alloa finished 8th in the Championship last season, one place and one point above the relegation zone. Our aim is to be in the Championship ourselves next season so this game will be a useful, early litmus test as to where we're at. Post-match: Alloa Athletic (0) 1-1 (0) Falkirk BairnsNews: Another 1-1 draw. What did you make of it? Stuniverse: Given the step-up in quality of the opposition, with Alloa playing a division above us, I was very happy. I thought we looked solid, defended well, and created chances. Again, we didn't get enough on target and we need to find a way to work the goalkeeper more. We were unlucky to go behind, in my opinion, and then we changed it around from 4-1-3-2 to 4-4-2 and gave most of the squad some playing time. I was delighted for Conor Sammon, coming on as sub to lead our line and heading us level from a corner. BairnsNews: Any news on the three trialists that played against Stirling Uni? Stuniverse: We're working hard on one deal but I can't say anything else as it's not done yet. Stuniverse
Game date: Wednesday 17th July 2019 Pre-match v Greenock Morton (a) - Betfred Cup Group E (1) Match Preview BairnsNews: How are you feeling ahead of your first competitive match as a manager? Stuniverse: I'm excited. The game's come around quickly, but the players have responded well in training and we're raring to go. Morton finished 5th in the Championship last season, one place below the play-offs, so I'm expecting a very difficult game. BairnsNews: With Corr leaving for Motherwell your scouting team looks depleted. Have you been able to scout Morton? Stuniverse: I'll admit we're low on numbers in that area but we have job adverts out for a Chief Scout plus a Scout or two so I hope to have that area of the club up-and-running soon. Team Selection BairnsNews: We'll focus on changes for future matches but, as this is your first competitive match, can you talk us through your starting 11? Stuniverse: Sure. We're going 4-1-3-2 with Cammy Bell in goal. A back-four of Michael Doyle, Mark Durnan, our captain Gregor Buchanan, and Calum Macdonald. Our vice-captain Morgaro Gomis sits in front of them, behind Michael Tidser, Charlie Telfer and Ian McShane. Conor Sammon and Declan McManus play up front. Post-match: Greenock Morton (0) 0-1 (0) Falkirk BairnsNews: Congratulations. A win in your first match and a clean sheet to boot. Could it have gone any better? Stuniverse: I would've liked a second goal [laughs] as it got quite nerve wracking towards the end. Overall I'm delighted with the players and their commitment to the cause. We defended well. I'll admit we had some close shaves when we needed Cammy Bell to make some fine saves to keep Morton out, but we also played some good football at times and gave them something to think about. I thought Conor Sammon caused them problems with his strength and ability to hold the ball up. I was thrilled for Conor when he won the game for us late on with his headed goal.
