Your keeper to miss a penalty in the last minute in biggest bit of irony we have seen in football. (side note I hope this is not true and you go up!)

It will take something special to beat 2 players getting sent off in the Playoff Final for irony. :(

Nope. Have to go back to 1st April I'm afraid.

Don't worry, I will make sure that we miss out on auto-promotion if the top 2 don't replicate their strong results.

Woah that sucks. Good luck in the playoffs, are you going to make sure you finish 3rd or just not top 2?

It was my own fault. I had arranged a friendly on 2nd May against one of our Affiliates, (Kettering), just to get everyone match fit for the Playoffs, and our young right back scored both goals, (which was a surprise), so I clicked on that to watch the goals. At the same time the Sheff Utd v Wolves game was just kicking off so I cranked that up and I just think the laptop thought hold on a minute, I'm going as fast as I can.

Poached. Apr 2051

This is interesting.

So my game crashed on 2nd or 3rd May 2051 and I had to go back to my last save on 1st April and re-load. I hadn't even thought about the poached player until I just saw the identical message on 19th April. Same player name, position, poaching club, CA and PA.

So at what point is this decision made?

That is interesting.  SInce it is something you can't change could it be "set" at youth intake day or when the year rolls over?

I'm really not sure but it's obviously set at some point.

Youth Intakes are set at Preview date, (I think), which is approx 3 months before the intake itself.

That last intake looks pretty good. Are the 5* players going straight into the first team rotation? Definitely like to see that 5* defender getting at least 500 minutes by the end of the season.

I like the looks of your next season, especially if December is the opposite of this season 🙏🏽

I try not to make snap judgements about how good an intake is anymore. It's too often seriously flawed.

None of them made any appearances during the run-in.

(50d) Cole (IRL) (M.Citizen) * looks ok actually. He's certainly not going to play on the left of a 2 in the middle of a pitch, but he looks quite well suited to the more workmanlike role on the right of middle. I need to get rid of that PPM though.

a7f5001e452d1978c35764d91f17b356.png

I don't have any words about the lost transfer money. I really have invested a lot of effort into the clauses aspect of the save, and while I sort of accepted the lost fees earlier in the save as "just one of those things", this is a bit different and far harder to swallow.

We took 6 points from a possible 30 during that December period. It was awful. We also crashed out of the FA Cup. We were still scoring goals, (we scored 3 goals 4 times and were only held to nil once, but we conceded 5 goals twice and 3 goals 3 times and that's just too many. If we converted 3 of those draws into wins, that's your 6 points gap to the playoffs right there.

38619a0a975fc20e20989878e0cedeb6.png

The thing about this save is that even when we sell really good players to generate cash, just about everyone else at the club improves so we're always on what is a hugely upwards trend. We sold nobody this season which really helped us develop and we only have 1 player who's contract expires in 2051, (44b) Big Don (JAM)(Bal)6'5" *), and who I need to decide whether to offer him a new contract, (which is going to move him from £182,000 wages per season to at least £1M wages per season). I really don't think we can afford to start paying players that much with our current finances so I think I'm probably going to sell him with a 50% clause and a 12 month loan back so we get him back for another season. There is a balance to be had between keeping our best players and balancing the books. He's already worth £10.75M so can you imagine what he would be worth in the Premier League? It's a really tough decision to make. On the one hand I don't think I'm getting anyway near the best out of him, but on the other hand we don't have much depth on the left flank.

(50c) is a left winger, but he's also casual, so there is no guarantee that I will be able to develop him anyway. Either way he looks way short of this level. I think I'm going to have to bite the bullet, offer him a new contract on £20k+ per week and hope that I can work out how to use him more effectively. A 2nd playmaker is 1 option. As is moving him forward 1 slot and experimenting with a WTM, (which is what I really want to do).

I love how you say about your youth intake: I try not to make snap judgements, but then have that player score the winning goal in the playoff finals

Super happy that you promoted this year. Can't wait to see next season adventures.

Oh, and one player could have brought in ~100M if you could have sold them twice?

Season Summary. May 2051.

Championship. We got there in the end. We were a little short of the top 2, but also better than the rest.

c60943e3d4147876532cee9ca05869c1.png

FA Cup. Well that was short and not very sweet.

d62cd84ffa46039594adf08da428f5c2.png

Carabao Cup. This was better, but we still came unstuck against Premier league opposition.

0fbb705951e4f55ba1f187d806c31520.png

Premier League Cup (U23's). We were better in the League Stage this season after a poor showing last year, and also came out on top in the Playoffs.

U18 Div2 South. It seems to be an on-going trend that we finish Runners Up in the League Stage and then go on and win the Playoffs. I guess that's better than the other way around, but I would prefer to be winning the league if possible. I have a sneaking suspicion that we are losing players to International call-ups and paying the price when they are not available.

Goal-scoring keepers(47a) Best (F.Det) * is developing into a decent keeper despite his young age. A return of 8 goals and 7 assists, (including an assist for the late late winner in the Playoff Final), is a reasonable return. Gone are the days of the 20 goal a season keeper it seems.

Awards. I was astonished to see (43e) Mario (JAM) (L.Det) * score so many goals this season. (Especially after just 4 goals in 17(13) appearances last season. FM is a strange beast sometimes. I really don't think he is great, but you can't argue with that many goals. He's valued at £11.25M and I'm expecting him to get a value boost when we get promoted to the Premier League and there is a serious chance of me cashing in on his 1 season scoring streak and flogging him on to a club with more money than sense.

Squad by Appearances. On the plus side, (43j) Richard Jenkins (Res) is 1 of my favourite players at the club right now so it was brilliant to be able to re-sign him and he came straight in and played the most games of all outfield players. The problem with that though is that hot prospect (48b) Agombar (Bal) only played 16 games this season and I need to make sure he plays more next season.

Discipline. Of course we top the yellow card table but even with 3 extra Playoff games we are unable to hit the 900 fouls mark. Our red card performances were so poor this season that we don't even make the 1st page of the table. That's possibly a contributing factor as to why we did better in the league.

For the 1st time ever in this save we also have not a single player on the 1st page of the yellow card table, (where 12 was the mark that was needed). I think this was more down to squad rotation than any change of style.

1 single player made the red card list and as if scoring the winner in the Playoff Final, (50a) Conway (IRL) (F.Det) * is fast gaining legendary, (or at least cult), status.

They come under Ground Maintenance but most of it comes under last season because that's when it was paid, and our imminent upgrades will start shortly (this season), but don't show up yet.

I just knew the keeper would be involved some how ;)

It's been the case so often in the save that the component parts, (goal-scoring keepers and ill-discipline), have been so influential throughout the save.

When we lost in the League 1 Playoffs we had not 1 but 2 players sent off in the final. It's just fitting I think isn't it?

But that's the beauty of the game isn't it?

Our staff say he might be good, but there is a big difference between maybe being good in the future and actually delivering the goods in the hear and now. To have an 18 year old centre-half, (only just turned 18 I should add), come on at HT and score the winner in the Championship Playoff Final is incredible. I wonder about his "big game" rating though.

He's consistent, a leader, and while he is only a league 1 player right now could improve to be a Premier league player. I just hope that he isn't too injury prone.

I believe so. Now all your keeper needs to do is score a last minute winner to win the Premier League and you can immediately just shut down your laptop and walk off like a boss.

The crash was a bit of a non-event in the end.

We finished 3rd again without me manipulating anything, (we gained 1 more point than originally I think). The only difference is that we played Stoke in the Semi and West Ham in the Final rather than being set to play West Ham in the Semi. It would have been worse had we already played and won the Playoffs.

It will be interesting to see just how badly we get spanked in the Premier League. There could be some hefty hammerings on the way.

New stadium needed. May 2051

11204f2853ecfbf4c5ae1340840c5ad1.png

Well this isn't ideal.

Our capacity is currently 10,650 and it needs to be 12,500 to meet the Premier League requirements. The fact that we haven't had a message telling me that our stadium is being expanded suggests that we have already reached the ceiling.

c93fca2e683aeecb6727fb5ac9734bd5.png

The stadium was built in..... I don't know actually. Let me go and have a look. It's not east to find the stadium now that we aren't playing there.

The stadium was built in 2041 which means we can't build a new one until 2066. I don't think we are going to get there.

On the plus side, I notice that we CAN play in European competition at this stadium though and I would rather play here in a smaller stadium than play at MK, (assuming we ever get to Europe of course).

82d6fd033a2e3db00065641d1d3168e9.png

I'm hoping that our U23's and U18's still play here otherwise the stadium isn't going to be used at all.

ENOOOOOOOOOOOORMOUS Bid. Jul 2050

This is a simply enormous bid. He's contracted until 2053 and is our best player so I don't want him to go, but if I could I would have sold him for half that plus 50%, a friendly and a 12 month loan.

The problem is that I really need the loan if we are going to get into the Premier League.

They have given us 30% profit so I can't renegotiate for that, but I would love to be able to renegotiate for a loan deal. (Not even sure if that's a thing). I can't protest this. I just can't.

We've currently got £33M in the bank and have a transfer budget of £75M.

The board accepted the offer and I wasn't paying attention. The 1st thing I knew about the deal was when I saw this message.

763046ce78fcb85edcf00e71d5cdd7c3.png

He's rejected the offer from Southampton and the only reason for this can be that they are currently 19th in the Championship and we're sitting in 5th. We're paying him a paltry £3,000 per week and he has 2 and a half years left on his contract. He's the best player at the club and I think I'm going to offer him an improved contract to try and keep him here longer. If we don't get him to sign a new contract now and then get promoted this season, we will have to pay through the nose to get him to re-sign as a Premier League club.

Weren’t these bids in the same season, and total close to £100M if you could sell him twice?

Good thing he wasn’t sold, as he was only the MotM in the Playoff Final :kriss:

That can't happen until 25 years have passed after the previous stadium was built. It's hard-coded into the game. So 2066 is the earliest we can get a new stadium which is a real shame. Especially when you consider that unlike built-up areas of big Cities, there is actually of plenty of room locally to build a new stadium.

That should be fixed for FM21, and not just flat out hard code for this many years. Clubs who are run well and organised can upscale many times in 25 years. They could even do the opposite, with clubs not run well (though Real Madrid would probably get bailed out by selling their stadium to the government and buying it back cheap  ).

Contract extensions. Jun 2041

I've been listing our squad by CA and then by PA and been looking to extend the contract of our best players and also those players who our Ass Man believes have the best potential.

This is what the PA list looks like.

53f2c79a9a0ae16262260d0eade569e3.png

(51b) Mahoney (Temp) is a player who I don't think you have seen before. He came through at 4.0 PA I think.

699e69ad1c9846386330f369cb445173.png

(50a) Conway (IRL) (F.Det) * you know all about after his goal-scoring exploits in the Playoff Final.

ee558ed729112da0925416493b985ccc.png

(50b) Okoro (NED) (F.Det) is the reason for this post. He is still on his initial Pro contract so I have just tried to extend it and add a +3 clause in it and this is what caught my eye. It's possible that I have been away from the premier league for too long, but these seem like big clauses for an 18 year old who has only made 2 senior appearances. I wonder if his PA is big? I paid him more than he wanted, and even through £120,000 cash at him, but I got him for 5+3 years with no min fee release clauses.

0863275d0aff2db83e8e00e04d0724ca.png

84a540a90e17ffde7a83bf4d8356e7f1.png

(49c) Smith (F.Pro) 6'4" came through the intake the season before (50a) Conway (IRL) (F.Det) * and started this season ahead of him. Both were available for the Final and (50a) Conway (IRL) (F.Det) * won. The rest as they say is history.

a173a26ea62b8a811f43c74a3d9b7577.png

(49b) Big Niño (COL) (Unamb) is a bit of a strange one. We have so many strikers that when I looked into my ML problems, I decided that due to his size, (he's 6'7"), I would use him as back-up to (44b) Big Don (JAM)(Bal) 6'5" who by the way has gone from strength to strength since I focussed on that area of the side. (49b) Big Niño (COL) (Unamb) is really just filling a gap at ML for the time-being, but what it does do is allow him to play when otherwise he would have played for the U18's last season and this season he would probably be going out on loan. I'm sure that as he develops over the next season or so he will grow into it and it's just his mentals that are holding him back right now.

c3d7c2d56fac888bbdf9bd3c440a3dae.png

Although (48b) Agombar (Bal) is only 19 years old, he has already spent 2 seasons as 1st choice DR and it was only the return of (43j) Richard Jenkins (Res) that dropped him to a support role last season. I really like the look of him and will make sure that he continues to get lots of game-time to develop.

6b6b0d2577d4bd1fcc2dd50182d289fd.png

(48a) Doyle (F.Pro) is rapidly developing into one of if not the best player at the club. His rise has been meteoric. We don't have a back-up for him and I'm concerned that I have been playing him too much so with that in mind I am trying to re-sign (45a) Grainger (Amb) to provide some competition.

7dea721d496a55ac505e7a0f46c6332a.png

(47a) Best (F.Det) * makes up our list of 5.0 players and he will be vital to us if we are to avoid relegation.

While our strength has been in forward positions so far, it would seem that with the worm is turning with 7 of the top ranked PA players at the club being either defenders or keepers. You also have to remember that I binned the HoYD after the last intake because I wasn't happy with the personalities coming through. :idiot:

I feel like that’s a buggy sort of thing to happen as no board would invest money when the investment is already happening.
How do you get 20 in youth recruitment? I wonder if it’s the board unlocking scouting worldwide option?

If the require a marque signing, could you sign...:D

Would he sign?

*can’t remember his name *:ackter:

The Spanish centre-half? I wish.

Here is our shortlist.

It's took me over a week to read through this and I have to say this is brilliant

I love the aspect of this save about getting stuck in as well as the number of fines you have received and good luck in the Premier League.

As for the new stadium,is it actually hard coded as I'm going to use my time at Stade Francais as an example from my save.

I have no idea why the bottom one has been duplicated twice but for two of the bottom three Stade Francais Stadiums.they are two different stadiums.

The top one I used from Tier 7 to Tier 2.

The Second one was supposed to be used in Tier 2 as the original didn't meet legaue requirements but ended up being used in Tier 1 before we moved to Stade Jean-Bounin.As you can see Stade Francias moved to a new Stadium in 2039 so that is three different stadiums owned by the club in nineteen years.

Oh yeah, him too :D

I was think about James (?) I think his name was, that English guy, though he’s possibly retired now.

That list looks like it would break your wage structure. Maybe a loan were you get them for free and they pay the wages? :stop:No, I don’t think so either.
