Hi,

I'm on a serious budget... long time player, but only ever 2D and 1 country at a time database (as far down as that country allows). Would this do a job?

https://www.box.co.uk/T1A-HP-EliteBook-840-Refurbished-8GB-RAM_2471644.html

Thanks

Can you afford to go any higher?  It'll run the game, but that's going to be quite a few years old with that CPU and even refurbished I'd be wary of how long it'd last.

If you can afford to go up to £300, this'd be a significant improvement as it has a current generation i3 processor: https://www.laptopstation.co.uk/deals/lenovo-ideapad-3i-12th-generation-core-i3-8gb-rams-15-6-fhd-screen-laptop/

If you can't afford more, I'd actually look at this as based on what I can find the CPU would be better: https://www.laptopstation.co.uk/deals/hp-15s-fq2024na-dual-core-8gb-128gb-15-6-laptop/

The first one has the same CPU, so it will process the game the same speed more or less, just that it has a dedicated graphics card so you'll be able to max out the 3D graphics settings without issue.

Given the second one doesn't show which i5 it is, I don't know.  It would be easier if you provided links rather than screenshots.

Hi havent' played FM for the last couple of years and now my laptop are close to a stop, so need to get a new one

Going to be using it for FM, playing CS GO/Valorant and games like that with my kid, browsing (using multible tabs, my current Acer Nitro make a fuss about that by being very noisy from the start with 10-15 tabs open i Chrome at the same time) and watching movies/youtube

Noise and overheating is more trouble than playing the games at a top lvl

Living in Denmark, I don't have acces to many of your surgestings or at least they will be at another price

The laptop I've been looking at is the ASUS TUF GAMING 15 FX506 i5/8/512/3050/144Hz 15,6" - ASUS FX506HC-HN032T

  • Intel® Core™ i5-11400H-processor
  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 graphics
  • 8 GB DDR4 RAM, 512 GB SSD

The price would be around £650

That's a decent price for the spec.  I'd just suggest keeping fewer tabs open with 8GB RAM as Chrome is a bit RAM hungry!

Hi,

Lenovo laptop packed up after a few years and had a few issues with lenovo in general.

Only really play FM, do some light work, browsing and occasional streaming i.e Netflix.

The better/main differences out of these? (Or other recommendations budget around £700 mark)

Screen tearing will be down to the frame rate of the game not matching the refresh rate of the monitor.  Use V-Sync and you should see an end to screen tearing.

The difference is the second one has twice the storage but a slightly weaker graphics card.  That's the one I'd go for as the graphics card is still more than enough for FM's max settings and you get the better storage.

Hi,

I’m looking for a laptop to play solely FM23 with some casual browsing and or streaming.

Budget would be anywhere between £500-£700. Just looking for a laptop that will run FM as fast and smoothly as possible with my budget I have available. Would be playing saves in the lower leagues of England whilst loading a few other leagues.

I’ve been looking at this laptop. Would this be a good option for what I’m looking for?

Yes, it'd be good in terms of processing speed. You'll probably need to have the graphics turned down from max settings but will be fine for medium to high.

That one if you want to be able to definitely have the highest 3D graphics settings and/or possibly play other modern games.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/ASUS-Vivobook-M1603QA-16-0-WUXGA/dp/B0BN8K7S9X/ref=mp_s_a_1_75?crid=U2W4DXEBA3XY&keywords=vivobook&qid=1676399730&s=computers&sprefix=vivobook%2Caps%2C105&sr=1-75

That one if FM is the only game you play and you don't mind turning the graphics down a notch or two.

Which one is the fastest at running football manager? The only game I would play is fm but I want to be able to have a laptop that can run it fast so which one would run it the fastest?

(out of all the laptops I sent the links to not just them two)

In terms of processing speed, either of those two - they should process the game at pretty much the same speed as they have the same CPU as each other, which is the best CPU from all the ones listed and likely to be the best CPU you can get for the price.

The main difference between them is the more expensive one has a dedicated graphics card.  The cheaper one does have more RAM, but this won't have any effect on how fast FM processes, only how much stuff you can have open at once.  8GB RAM is still fine for FM and general usage.

I can take that very laptop down to 579 pounds is it worth getting that one rather then the Amazon?

is it worth spending the extra 30 pound?

is it better value for money?

It kinda depends - if FM is the only game you're playing and you don't mind not maxing out the graphics then you may as well go the cheaper option.

Personally, I'd spend the extra £30 to have the extra graphics power.

Hi,

these are the specs for my laptop (I upgraded to 32mb RAM). I want to buy a monitor that I can use for FM and other games like GTA and also hook my PS5 up to it.

I have no idea what I should be looking for so any suggestions would be great.

Budget is up to £200 but would be willing to spend more if it’s worth it.

Thanks in advance.

Something like that would do a good job.  There doesn't seem to be anything above 1080p resolution under £200.

Hi,

Looking for a new laptop. I am based in the UK.

I usually have the main nations loaded and then I do large database and then add the likes of S/N America and then Euro countries such as Denmark/Norway/Croatia on the advanced selection (Forgot which part I add on the advanced but tends to add more players).

I like having social media/youtube/twitch open whilst playing if that's any help.

Budget ideally about 500-600 if possible.

Thanks!

Thanks Kev,

Will take a look.

My only worry with Lenovo is, I had one before (Was my favourite i've had) but the hatches snapped and apparently it's common in Lenovo.

Ok, here's an alternative.  CPU isn't quite as strong based on the benchmarks but still very capable:

In terms of processing power, the second laptop has more cores and a higher base clock speed, which should translate to better performance in tasks that can take advantage of multiple cores.

However, the first laptop has a higher boost clock speed and a larger cache, which could make it better at single-threaded tasks.

When it comes to memory, the second laptop has a faster RAM speed and the ability to upgrade to more RAM, which could be useful for running multiple applications at once or handling memory-intensive tasks.

Both laptops have the same amount of storage, so that's a wash.

For me - I'd go with the 2nd laptop

The first laptop also has Windows S - which you'd need to switch out of, it's simple to do - but  you can't go back.
