Curious to compare the two and whether it’s worthy spending a few hundred more. cheers

Purely for FM it's probably better than the other one as the CPU is better, it's just the graphics card here is nowhere near as strong, but still more than enough for FM. The second one isn't quite as strong as in terms of CPU, but has a stronger graphics card.
Jaws2023
Hi lads, Looking to buy a laptop (would be happy to buy new or used) to play FM 2023. SBfmanager1986
Hi, apologies if this isn’t in the right section etc, never posted in a forum before. I’m a long time enthusiast of football manager and looking for a new laptop. Budget wise I’m looking at max spend of £550 really (ideally £500 or less). I only play football manager on my laptop and aside from that I might watch Netflix on my laptop time to time. Literally nothing else so I would like something that can run the game fast or at least at a decent speed and allow me to get a few years into saves without it struggling lots. Would really appreciate any recommendations if any one can help I’m not tech savy unfortunately. Thanks 😊

VirgilVS
Hi Hoping to get a reply from Kev the superstar. Old laptop is https://kelaptop.com/en/lenovo-ideapad-3-14ada05-81w0001dpg , bought in 2020 and has become SUPER slow last month or so. Really like the look of the 2 above you linked in the 700-750 budget range: https://www.box.co.uk/NBCB15716-2-Horizon-Skyline-Intel-Core-i7-16GB-RAM-5_4319482.html and https://www.currys.co.uk/products/msi-katana-gf66-15.6-gaming-laptop-intel-core-i5-rtx-3050-1-tb-ssd-10246642.html . I also found this as a perhaps cheaper alternative https://www.currys.co.uk/products/asus-vivobook-15-x1500ea-15.6-laptop-intel-core-i7-512-gb-ssd-black-10240153.html . Firstly if we talk about processing speed on FM, which is very important to me (hate when I press continue and it takes like 30+ seconds before its back, its too short a time to divert my attention to something else, but long enough to make waiting really boring). In a hypothetical test where you loaded up 10 leagues and simmed til Jan, am I right to assume all 3 would be super noticeably faster than my current laptop was at its peak? how do the other 3 compare against each other? I only really play fm and id say overall the speed at which fm processes from day to day is my biggest concern, however the other game I would play is probably old school runescape haha but when you turn on the hd plugin and set render distance to max, it can be much more demanding than you think, and when doing hard content, fps is fairly important which is why the one you linked with better graphics has my interest piqued also. How much higher, say at absolute maximum i was willing to spend an extra £100, is there anything out there with the processing capability of the Horizon but the graphics of the msi? If thats put of the question then I will probably use your comparison between those 3 and pick one of those. Thank you

Im no expert at all, but it seem to me to have the exact same processing capability of the Horizon, and a substantially better graphics card, whereas compared to the MSI, it has a substantially better CPU, but the graphics card is marginally worse? So overall it beats the horizon, and vs the msi it has a win on cpu front and a slight loss on the graphical front making it the best overall? ctango
Is my budget realistic? Budget around £1,500 Would like it to be able to sim a season quick af - i do a lot of testing etc Current laptop takes around 40-60 minutes for a 4 league full season sim. FP96
Hello, Been currently on the search for a new mid-range lightweight laptop that I can bring whilst travelling that is capable of running FM23 and I stumbled upon this forum which I hope can help me. Not looking for anything expensive or new. I honestly wouldn't mind looking at the used market. As of recent (Facebook Marketplace). Whenever I play FM, I'm mostly using the classic 2D view during matches, leaving the 3D element for goal replays or important highlights. Spec wise I don't know what CPU/GPU is playable but for RAM I need at least 8GB (with a possibility of having an upgradable slot). Same goes for storage 256/500GB should be fine with upgradable M.2 SSD. In terms of other things, I'll probably listen to Spotify and use Photoshop. My budget is between £300-600 (might be less if its within the used market).
phd_angel
My Alienware 17 R5 still runs FM23 in 3D pretty well, but its 5 years start to show a little... In researching mid-tier gaming laptops, it seems that Asus Strix G series is a good option these days. (It now incorporates high-end parts from former Strix Scar, one of the highest performing laptops in its category). My question is more about future performance. Would this machine allow me to play FM comfortably for the next 5 years or so, or should I aim for higher specs?... https://www.bestbuy.com/site/asus-rog-strix-17-144hz-gaming-laptop-1920x1080-fhd-amd-ryzen-9-7845hx-16gb-memory-nvidia-geforce-rtx-4070-1tb-ssd-eclipse-gray/6537564.p?skuId=6537564 Thanks for your insights. TIA It's ok, but this would be better: https://www.currys.co.uk/products/hp-victus-15fb0504na-gaming-laptop-amd-ryzen-5-rx-6500m-512-gb-ssd-10246170.html Better CPU and graphics card. We can't see the future in terms of what SI will do with the game's specs, so it's hard to say for sure. But given this has a CPU at the higher end of what's currently available and the graphics card would be considered overkill for FM, it should have no issue running FM for the foreseeable future.

My budget is between £300-600 (might be less if its within the used market). https://www.laptopstation.co.uk/deals/hp-victus-15-fb0020na-ryzen-5-amd-graphics-15-6-fhd-gaming-laptop/
GriffiN94
I'm browsing the laptop market (could potentially move to PC but laptop is preferred) and looking for some suggestions really. I currently have an HP Ak085na i7-6700HQ with 8gb RAM and it runs FM great but it overheats switches off and the fan is pretty much always running even when just watching videos. I want to be able to run FM smoothly without overheating and use the 3D ME, with the option to play some other games like League of Legends, CSGO, Valorant but not on max settings. I use it for work so reliability is a necessity as it'll be used for 12+ hours a day. Budget is £650 but can go higher but don't want to spend over £700 really. Thanks for your thoughts. You may have seen Miles' blog post announcing that FM25 will run on Unity engine. Do you think the laptop I showed will be able to handle it? Here's the same link for your convenience. Thanks. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/asus-rog-strix-17-144hz-gaming-laptop-1920x1080-fhd-amd-ryzen-9-7845hx-16gb-memory-nvidia-geforce-rtx-4070-1tb-ssd-eclipse-gray/6537564.p?skuId=6537564 PS: This is what Miles's post says about FM25 Unity: "The switch to Unity is going to give us a lot more power graphically, across all formats, alongside powerful user interface tools. We’ve been working closely with Unity over the last few years to be able to deliver a whole new UI which will dramatically improve the ways you are able to interact with the game, both inside and outside of a matchday. Unity's Universal Render Pipeline (URP) allows us to create more optimal graphics across a range of platforms, from mobile to high-end consoles and PC/Mac - but we're also adding some enhancements on top. The switch to Unity means there is the possibility of better-quality graphics across all supported devices, however it should be expected that there will be some changes to the minimum spec requirements, which will be communicated ahead of FM25’s release. For those of you who are not familiar with gaming technologies – in simple terms, FM25 will have a significantly better looking matchday experience - both on the pitch and the supporting stadium environments, alongside a vastly improved user interface that will dramatically improve how you navigate through screens and access all the information available to you as manager. We’ll also have new technology for Newgens and manager creation which are already looking really promising at this early stage." There will undoubtedly be an increase in system requirements for the 3D match graphics, but SI will still look to keep the system requirements as light as possible. This laptop would comfortably run the likes of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and Cyberpunk 2077 at the higher settings levels, and I can't see FM25's system requirement's being more demanding than titles like that. sm1979
I'm not as active on here or on the game anymore, just don't get the time. But I think it's almost time for a new pc, and intrigued by the size of a mini pc. I only play FM Touch 2020, and watch in 2d. Would one of these Beelink mIni PC's be fine to play on please? https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B09V81NML4?ref_=cm_sw_r_apan_dp_WNCX5VYXB7M0Q9H1RSVN I tend to only run the 4 main English and Scottish leagues too, but as big a database as I can. Or, on the other hand would you suggest a laptop? My budget would be a maximum of £350. I would want an HDMI connection so I could hook it up to my monitor, also a minimum of 256 GB SSD. One further basic question, if I bought a laptop to run FMT20, is it possible to turn off the screen and still play through the attached monitor? Help greatly appreciated 👍 Edited June 30, 2023 by sm1979
