Nottingham Forest
Basford United 2028-29 Season Review Another good season in the end. No cup run again but we survived which is all I think we can do whilst we're struggling Key Players Garry Midgley YP3h - 53 appearances this season where he's managed to score 15 goals and get 16 assists. Best Youth Kwame Nichols YP7a - 54 appearances with 6 assists. Come on leaps and bounds. Youth Breakout 2029-30 Season David Mensah YP8a - Really hopeful that he can improve our backline and have a strong breakout season. Other News None! Next Seasons Expectations Just stay up again. Try and get that FA Cup run to improve the finances.
Nottingham Forest
Basford United Pre-Season 2029-30 Predictions Media Prediction: 20th Title Odds: 50-1 Board Expectations Vanarama National League North: Avoid Relegation FA Cup: Third Qualifying Round FA Trophy: Reach First Round The Squad Reverted back to a less attacking 4-3-3(DM) and also developed a 3-1-4-2 formation that I think could help us. Transfers Big summer at Basford as we saw three of the original squad members depart. I made the call to transfer list Kieran Preston who was 32, nearly 33 and on over £500 per week and wasn't justifying his wage. Callum Chettle and Alex Howes also departed. It means that Niall Towle and James Tague are the only none youth players. We also saw Leon Holloway YP2g depart as I decided his contract wasn't worth renewing. Had actually played 201 league games for us but was getting worse in his performances. Tom Lennon YP1b also departed. He was a striker but only ever returned a 1 in 4 rate from 38 games and I just didn't have confidence in him. Nuno Sousa YP1h and Juan Carlos Yates YP5c also departed along with about fifteen other youngsters. Results Once again a solid set of results before the loss to Forest's 23s. abulezz
Flying off-season - you might have gotten rid of alot of players but it doesnt seem like it will affect your squad in the least. It must be a relief to get £500 per week off your back, too.

We actually had our wage budget cut twice last season from £7.4k to £4.5k. Thankfully the board have put it back up. I do need a keeper to come in though. Nottingham Forest
Basford United 2029-30 Season The Squad I decided that I'd like to do a further update of the squad as we're effectively ten seasons in. Going into the new season we've returned back to the 4-3-3(DM) along witha 3-1-4-2. The 4-3-3(DM) is the one I think will be used more. Here are the squad members for the current season with the roles. GK(D) RB(FB-S) LB(FB-S) CB(D) DM(HB)

Truthfully I thought I’d be pushing the play-offs by now. However, despite the lack of investment the board have never(both of them) changed expectations. Even when we finished second. I’m already classing this as my favourite FM save but my only concern is our finances as I am concerned that administration could be round the corner. I anticipate another 5 seasons before we’re pushing the play-offs.
Nottingham Forest
Basford United Aug-Dec 2029 Results League Table Finances Thoughts A great first half of the season as we sit 8th going into the new year. We've been rather frustrating as just when I think we've cracked it, we decide to forgot how to play. We started the season with a 1-1 against Warrington. Which in truth was all us and we should have won. Buxton can consider themselves unlucky. Their xG was better and it was an even game. We just happened to finish our chances. The Needham Market game was standard and comfortable. Then disaster as we couldn't win for 6 games. A 7 game spell from there saw us make it 8 unbeaten as we won 5 in a row and looked class again before 1 win 5 including a very narrow loss to League One Wycombe. The Chorley game saw a change in tactic. I want to 3-1-4-2 and we weren't even in the game until we were awarded a pen. VC, Brad Howe YP3b converted and then I thought I'd go for it. I just kept trying to get a reaction off the lads and when Karl Briers YP5j got an equaliser in the 92nd minute I did honestly feel I could win. It's one of those moments. Anyway, we did win and Briers YP5j secured his hat-trick with a deft touch and slotted finish past the keeper. The change in tactic came about as we lost our three most crucial players in the winless spell. Towle, Midgley YP3h and Ismael YP4a were all out for 3-7 weeks. The Nantwich game we didn't turn up but the replay again turned into the Briers YP5j show as he got all 4. A 5-1 demolition of South Shields followed with Briers YP5j again grabbing four and his third hat-trick in four games. A draw against Guiseley was good before a narrow win against Radcliffe. Then two more wins in the league and cup followed with a draw against Halifax in which we were again the better side.
Nottingham Forest
Basford United YI Preview 2029-30 Season This one looks positive. Not sure on the full-backs as we don't currently use them. But the wide player, centre backs and centre mid would be good. Has my revamped backroom staff had a change for this. Will be interested to see next season.
Nottingham Forest
Basford United 2029-30 Season Youth Intake One proper stand out player from this intake but I hope he can progress from his current ability. Nottingham Forest
Basford United Jan-May 2030 Results League Table Finances Thoughts We went into the new year in a good run of form but unfortunately that was shortlived as we found ourselves losing six on the bounce after the Needham Market win. One loss in ten soon followed as we were comfortably picking up points without ever being in danger of getting dragged into the relegation battle. Just as we started to perform and play-offs looked a outside shout, we decided to stumble towards the end of the season with one win in 7. We've done that twice in the second half of this season. Nottingham Forest
Basford United 2029-30 Season Review 15th in the league and I'd say it's a very good season. Our third best after the two play-off ventures. We started poorly but built up some form just before the new year. That form disappeared in the new year before returning and disappearing again as we limped towards the end of the season. One win from our final seven is concerning but tactically we're in a good place. No decent cup run again which is frustrating as we're not far off building something. Key Players Garry Midgley YP3h - Move to right midfield when we changed to three at the back. Not as many goals but still assisted 16 times in 49 games. Niall Towle - Not the classiest season but with Briers emergence he didn't need to. Becoming a tad inconsistent but I'm hoping that's down to the squad's inconsistent form. Finished with 23 in 43 although ten of his games were off the bench. Karl Briers YP5j - Not even considered a decent prospect a few seasons ago but has continued to smash them in for the 18s and 23s. When Towle was out injured he burst onto the scene scoring 13 in his first 6. He slowed down after but 27 in 35(11 were sub appearances is a cracking return. Ismael YP4a - Ismael is somewhat unfortunate. Seems to move around between left mid, the deep lying forward and could probably play as the poacher. Still, 11 goals and 9 assists from 42 games is a good return. Brad Howe YP3b - The VC. He's improving and needs to become more consistent. 13 goals and 7 assists from 49 games. Even if most have been pens. Best Youth Kwame Nichols YP7a - Played 45 league games with 7 assists at a tad under 7. Has excelled so much and I'm not sure we'll keep hold of him. David Mensah YP8a - Played 41 league games at a tad under 7 and performed well in the back 3. Youth Breakout 2030-31 Season Ramone Wilkinson YP9a - Keen to see whether he can challenge Howe YP3b for a starting spot. Other News Rhys Welch YP5h becomes the first full international player. Only for Gibraltar. He wasn't deemed good enough by myself and would have stayed. However, he was poached by Lynx a few seasons ago as was only on NC terms. Has improved a fair bit. Next Seasons Expectations Just stay up again. Try and get that FA Cup run to improve the finances. Hope the owner buggers off.
Nottingham Forest
The frustration of this save is real. I don’t think we’re far off cracking it. But then I also think we’re miles off the pace at times. Still we plod on.

Hootieleece
I must say Pace/Speed is a major factor in this years ME...always has, but it is a little more obvious when teams play high lines. Since the AI/ME doesn't seem to allow you to Mark out of the game Single Strikers any more. I find I need to press the midfield and Defense more to stop the Over the Top and Long Through balls.... I think they are trying to punish Over-Attacking Tactics, but with the change to almost unstoppable over the top and through balls made this year a goal fest if you have Attackers with 15+Pace! Nottingham Forest
Yeah, I’ve had a little bit of success playing route one football. We’re just a little naive. Nottingham Forest
Basford United Aug-Dec 2030 Results League Table Finances Forgot the finances screenshot but we're over £800k in the red. Thoughts Frustration is the name of the game! We started off the season in ok form picking up nine points from a possible twenty-one which included the some narrow losses, unlucky draws and good wins. September was class whilst October looked a bit of a wobble we were cruelly denied late on against National side Northampton in the first round before cruelly being denied late in the replay. Whilst we weren't playing well were stealing points and nicking wins and points here and there. A sign of a good side. After the Bishop's Stortford game(I saved after this date). We crumbled against Warrington and needed a late goal and suddenly our form dropped off a clifer. After the Stratford game we were 3rd after 17 games on 32 points and I was genuinely eyeing up a title challenge. Unfortunately from Warrington to Curzon Ashton we couldn't seem to get going and have dropped way off the pace. I'm hopeful we can turn it around as I really don't want another relegation battle. Nottingham Forest
During December we lost Elliot Marshal YP9b. He was only on NC terms and rated as 2 star CA. He started the season as first choice DLF and I may have annoyed him when I asked him to make a decision after he rejected our contract. I think he could develop so it's a shame he's gone. He managed to play 4 leagues scoring one goal.

Nottingham Forest
Basford United Jan-May 2031 Results League Table Finances Thoughts We started January much like we finished December. In rubbish form. That continued into February before we beat play-off chasing Darlington 4-1 in a surprise result where we honestly were class. That ended a run of no wins twelve/thirteen games. We then followed that up with some decent form for the rest of Feb and March. For the last 5 or 6 games I trialled a new tactic of 3-4-3 and as you can see it didn't work so we'll be reverting back to the 3-1-4-2.
Nottingham Forest
Basford United 2030-31 Season Review I genuinely had high hopes when we were getting results whilst not playing well. Then we kicked on another level. As we sat 3rd after 17 I really felt we'd hit another gear and it would be a play-off finish. That didn't happen and we had the Basford bottle. Eventually finishing 16th and worse off than last season. I feel until we get a new owner and a few upgrades we'll have this regular cycle. Key Players None. Best Youth Palerne Mutombu YP9d - Burst onto the scene in blistering form with 4 assists and 3 goals from 10 games as the deep lying forward. As our form dipped, he dropped but I'm hopeful he'll get better and more consistent. Finished with about 7 goals and 7 assist from about 35 games. Youth Breakout 2031-32 Season None. Other News None. Next Seasons Expectations Nothing has changed. Stay up, get a cup run and hope this owner goes away.

Nottingham Forest
Basford United Aug-Dec 2031 Results League Table Finances When does enough become enough.... Thoughts Another half season of frustration but on the face of things, being mid-table is ok. We aren't consistent enough to challenge for the play-offs still. We started with a three game unbeaten run before three losses were followed by 6 game unbeaten run. The cup games against Solihull Moors were annoying as we matched them at their place(they were third and league above). Then at home we were leading comfortably before they scored 4 quick goals to basically kill our hopes. This didn't impact our league form much as we secured some good wins. Going into the rest of November and December we've not had our usual slump and whilst we're 15th, we're in a good place.

Nottingham Forest
Basford United Jan-May 2032 Results League Table Finances Thoughts A tough second half to the season as we chopped and changed tactics and setups to try and get something to work. Our best run of the second half of the season came when all the squad were together. But once they'd split again we were done and we only picked up one more win against Brackley in which we had 5 shots on target and less than 1 xG. They had an xG of about 3.73. Nottingham Forest
Basford United 2031-32 Season Review A tough season again but 17th can be seen as a success. We're still too inconsistent and that hurts us. Cruelly dumped out the FA Cup again and it doesn't seem like we'll ever get that dream third round tie. Key Players Niall Towle - Somewhat back to his best with 38 goals from 53 games. However, he's getting on so I need a replacement asap. Ismael YP4a - Is crucial on the wing or as a second striker. Bagged 12 goals and 11 assists from 47 games. Paterne Mutombo YP9d - Grabbed 13 assists and 4 goals from 31 games as a second striker. He'll be the CAM in the new formation. Mykelti Weatherly YP4c - Only kept 10 clean sheets in 37 games but he averaged well over 7 and kept alot of games respectable. Jake Gray YP1e - Seemed somewhat back to his best as played 43 games with an average of 7.01. Performed well with Morrison YP2b. Ryan Morrison YP2b - Played 52 games with ten goals and averaged 7.15. Best Youth None. Youth Breakout 2032-33 Season Joao Silva YP10a - The 6'5 striker is a suitable poacher. Hopefully he can perform when I need him to. Other News None. Transfers James Tague departed as he doesn't suit the DM or AM role as well as being 31. Shamroy Roach YP9h went out on loan to his native British Virgin Islands for 6 months. Paul Nicholson, Guy Ashworth, Pascal Schmid & Konstantinos Nikoloau also departed as I released them. Jordon Priestnall also departed one day into August. Nottingham Forest
Player Sale - Kwame Nichols YP7a Ove the course of August, Portsmouth of Championship status decided they'd try to poach Kwame Nichols YP7a. I'd decided to push and over the month they started at around £5k. By the middle of August I'd got them up to £500k, 50% of next sale and a friendly. Which included protesting to the board when they offered about £145k after I rejected £170k a few days before. They say you should never be greedy. Well I was. Despite saying I would accept £500k, 50% of next sale and a friendly I rejected it. Portsmouth went away and on deadline day they decided to over £500k plus a friendly. I couldn't protest as I'd used that card but could ask for more. The board agreed but I didn't realise that they'd only add a clause for 10 games which equated to £550k plus a friendly. Gutting but also never be greedy. Nichols departs after 190 league games scoring one goal and getting 19 assists. The positive news is I've been able to request these. But whether they happen is another thing.

Nottingham Forest
Basford United Jul-Dec 2032 Results League Table Finances Positive finances or better after Kwame Nichols YP7a's sale. Thoughts We started off the season with an unlucky loss to Nantwich followed by two comfortable wins and good point against Halifax. A slight and unlucky loss against Chorley was again followed up by a four game unbeaten run including 3 wins. Our league form then dropped as we failed to win any of the next four before recording two more wins and a loss going into November. Frustratingly our form once again deserted us as we lost in an FA Cup 1st Round Replay against Eastbourne Borough where a game against Chippenham of the South would have been the prize. We largely remaining inconsistent for the rest of the year as we go into the new year sat in 14th.
