Your example of Guardiola is a good one - he sets his teams up like this at goal kicks , especially to play out under pressure the ball would go to a centre back in the box. However, if the opposition team sit off there is a good chance the GK (ie. Ederson) will miss out the centre back and play straight to the full back, if he can do so cleanly and without pressure. The pressure of the opponent's obviously depends on their tactics, but it is also something we have discussed in terms of the opponent's set up being right which would then force the GK to play to a centre back more often. Hi again, this may be lost in translation - is this the roaming playmaker role? De Bruyne is quite a good example, a player who can drive an attack forward, but with the physical ability to play at high intensity, and defend as well.
