Turning around a losing streak, what do you do.

Recommended Posts

First version of the game bought in 7 years. Use to just download training and tactics and go. This time decide to do everything myself. I'm Sunderland , started really well was top of the league. I've gone on a disaster run and collapsed like the England Cricket teams middle order. 1 win in 10 has left me 5th and with 10 games to go if I dont turn it around I risk losing a playoff spot and my job. We did win the St Jonhstone trophy in the run but we were outplayed but managed to hold on to 0-0 and win on pens.

I play 2 formations 433 with fullbacks getting forward or 532. slow tempo, short passing and low pressure. My defence has been great all season, scoring has been a problem, top scorer only has 11 but we managed to dominate the ball and win 1 or 2-0 most games. Tried tweaking my formations and trying new ones but every game now I'm getting totally outplayed.

How do you get out of slump like this. Is it best to tear everything up and start from scratch or persevere with what was working. A great run could get my 2nd but best chance now is hold onto to the playoffs and go up that way.

Have a team meeting to try and boost morale, talk to key players individually to try and boost there morale.

Also if your issue is that you are conceding too much then make tweaks to your tactic to make it harder to concede, and the opposite if the problem is that you cant score. If the issue is that you cant stop conceding and you cant score then I would make not conceding the priority.

A compounded negative morale is the main cause of a sustained slump and changing that is the best way of getting out imo. Think of the issues Arsenal have had, low confidence etc. Playing a few players that aren't as good as your main 11 but have better morale can help with this too.

I would agree with the post above that work on getting the morale up via chats and include more extra-curricular training to improve team cohesion.

Another thing is to schedule as many friendlies as you can against crap opposition and get scoring again.

Finally, seeing as you're chasing promotion with 10 games to go - I would balls to the wall it and go gung-ho attack! Nothing to lose.

Teammeeting.

Take two or three players out for others

Take 1 or 2 TI's out and put another or back to KISS.

Save game and play next day or two, cause it seems to reset the losing-streak and I am winning again.

Thanks all, I've tried all sorts gone back to original tactic tweaked it and also made a new one. Not made much difference, had few meetings. It just bizarre first 30 games or so dominated possession, gave very little away, wasnt scoring bucket loads but winning comfortable. after 14 leagues games at home I only conceded 5 goals.

now I'm getting torn apart, conceding loads, scoring none. Bottom of league just smashed me 3-0. Game after had Chorlton at home who were top went 5atb and scabbed a 1-1 but more luck than design as they had 23 attempts and goal to my 4.

5 games to go now 6th 4 points clear of 7th with game in hand so should have enough probably need 4 points to cling on. Cant see me going up though. Hopefully making playoffs will keep my job.

Schedule Team Bonding and Community Outreach in your training so that team cohesion and happiness improves. Play a slightly more defensive tactic (whether thats formation/team instructions/player roles) to stop the goals from being conceded and keep in mind the tactical familiarity.

I hope it improves, getting out of really bad form can be difficult. Oh and try not to be too harsh on the players in team talks, morale is likely near rockbottom already so try and make it more encouraging
