Take pieces of papers, put them in balls and adjust the heat for teams from the same groups. The UEFA way.

Also get a suit and live stream the whole thing. Make a proper draw. :D

I really think you should've won your group, but people preferred Šimić-Keown CB pairing. :lol:

People prefer champagne football, which is what my team plays. :cool:

Zidanes y Pavones.

Have swapped KDB and Sneijder so De Bruyne can swing some balls over for Muller to get his head on. Also tucked Muller in a little so he’s arriving at the back post for Ljungbergs crosses. I may be overthinking this :D

Given that I'm up against one of the best teams in the tournament, I might as well go down fighting.

Cocu (SF) for Florian Albert (SF),
Moving Beckham back into central midfield, and Suarez into his DLP roles from the successful Inter teams of the 60s.

Claudio Gentile (SF2) will escort John Arne Riise to the reserves team, making room for Paolo Maldini (SF2) and Patrice Evra (SF3) even if it forces me to change things up, just cannot pass up on Maldini.

I'll post the new formation later.

Dario Simic (Croatia) gets replaced by Paul McGrath (Republic of Ireland) and to stay within the rules, Pat Bonner (Republic of Ireland) gets replaced by Artur Boruc (Poland). :(

Will post the changed formation later this evening.

@Butts

@Haguey

@Hazzaj

@XuluBak

@Citizen Kane

@grff

Your matches were tied, so I had to call up the usual draft overseer, @Vynal Seven to decide it. :D

Which would mean @Haguey @Hazzaj and @Citizen Kane advance, alongside @Scott1892 who won his match easily.

(So me and Vynal basically have the opposite opinions and those players woul'dve won if neither of us voted).

Thanks to @managerdude_66 for playing!

Quarter finalists:

adhikapp, Yuko, Marius_R, Sano, Haguey, Hazzaj, Citizen Kane, Scott1892

Those of you who haven't done it already, you've got 24h to make 2 swaps if you wish, QFs will start tomorrow.

Will post the match-ups later tonight.

Quarter-final draw:

Yuko - Hazzaj

Marius_R - Sano

Scott1892 - Citizen Kane

Haguey - adhikapp

@Yuko @Hazzaj @Marius_R @Sano@Scott1892 @Citizen Kane @Haguey @adhikapp

There you go, so you can prepare your formations and possible swaps to counter your opponents.

Two matches tomorrow, two on Tuesday.

I'd like it if everyone could prepare possible swaps that they would do in case they advance so I can start semi-finals right away on Wednesday.

Plenty of players I wanted from Butts' team, but picking De Bruyne meant having to play 3 in midfield and dropping both Trezeguet and Totti. And I didn't want to swap any of my SF players for Bonucci, Muller or Sneijder, as good as they are.

Which left me with two swaps: Ashley Cole in for Emlyn Hughes (England for England, no SF or F apps) and Karim Benzema in for David Trezeguet (France for France, but it leaves me a free W slot if I get through the next round).

I'm switching out Dimitar Berbatov for Predrag Mijatovic as it's probably the only clear way I can improve the team while still being within the rules.

I'll post the formation later on.

Actually scratch that. Didn't realize Stojkovic and Mijatovic count as Yugoslavian players. Bottled it.

I really wanna make changes but every move possible taken from bestbro's team is either a like for like, or ruins the W and SF slots. So I guess I'm gonna pass on making any swaps and hope for the best.

I'm having the same problem as adhikapp, although I'm having sleepless nights on whether I should change formation to accomodate Lewandowski :lol: I'll decide later on.

Seriously, bestbro has Zidane (W), Seedorf (SF), Gascoigne (SF), Yashin (W), Voller (SF), Mijatovic, Alderweireld.

But I have Platini (W), Gullit (W), Terry, Neuer (SF), Stojkovic, Vertonghen. I've tried many combinations but none of them are viable. Also fck Haguey for taking Lichtsteiner in the draft when he has Lahm at RB... only to drop him after the first round anyways when he could've just drafted any other RW... and now I have to face his team :seagull:

Your game should start today, so if you could make the changes by like 4pm.

Pulled the trigger.

Robert Lewandowski is obviously a well rounded striker and besides being a prolific goalscorer, he also stands out for his work-rate and defensive contribution off the ball, and is capable of dropping into deeper roles on the pitch, in order to create space for teammates with his movement, or surprise defenders by making late and sudden attacking runs into the area. Luis Figo has the full package and is able to squeeze inside and play a playmaking role as an attacking midfielder as he did at the end of his career at Inter, where he excelled with his vision and varied passing ability. Meanwhile Lilian Thuram, besides being one of the best defenders in the world in his prime, was known for his ability to make attacking runs up the flank and contribute to his team's offensive play so he offers width on the right.

Luka Modric will join the home of European Champions in the place of Ivan Rakitic.

Srecko Katanec with his Cup Winners Cup medal and his 2 losing medals (European Cup & Uefa Cup) will make way for Miodrag Belodedici and his 2 European Cup medals.

Not so sure about these changes. Defensively excellent, but Beckenbauer pushing up from defense and Rijkaard playing as a deep lying playmaker effectively are in each others way. With Modric as another player who likes to drop deep to collect to ball, there's effectively not a lot of support for Stoichkov and Shevchenko up front. Ofcourse you have Evra and Neal who are able to make offensive contributions but I'm hesitant to say that's enough. Will be ridiculously hard to score against though!

That's basically why Modric and Deco are slightly further up, their main task is to push the ball forward.

Rijkaard, Beckenbauer and Belodedici will basically rotate each time with 1-2 joining the attack and 1 sitting back to cover, so essentially there's always going to be Stoichkov, Sheva, Rijkaard/Beckenbauer and at least a wing back at the attack and having the distribution skills of Deco and Modric behind them feels helpful enough.
