Sonic Youth
Imperious form! Decent youth intake, with players who will fill in your squad nicely around your stars. The form was brilliant, (but has tailed off a tiny bit). The £61M loan is actually the loan for the new stadium, (because I checked and we have only 1 loan). The financial situation is a little strange, but we were down to about £27M in the bank when they took out the £60M loan, and when you add into the mix that we had a transfer kitty of somewhere in the region of £150M-£200M during this period t actually makes sense that they want to leave some "petty cash" in the bank. My criticism is that the game is completely unaware that over the 38 years of this save, I have only spent £15M on players. The AI is oblivious to the trend. I would like the AI to recognise what I'm doing and adapt accordingly. Instead it still expects me to go out and spent the £190M transfer budget. I'm not saying that the financial AI is easy to fix. In fact I'm not even saying it's broken. I just wish it was better. I much prefer a "good" intake like that with the quality spread over a few different players rather than all concentrated on 1 superstar.

Jimbokav1971
Apr 2060. League Bwin. It's a measure of our progress that after 13 clean sheets in our last 14 league games, we almost capitulate against Estoril and concede 3, but score goals in the 88th and 93rd minutes to not just draw but win. We were poor and leggy, (and lucky), against Guimaraes, but although we drop points in a 3rd league game this season, we keep the losses to 1 thanks to a 94th min equaliser. We'[re 9 pts ahead of Benfica with a game in hand and have already been crowned Champions. The record for most goals in a league season is 123 by Sporting in 1946/47, so with 3 games to play we need 12 more to beat it. Under normal circumstances I would say we're in with a chance, but 2 of our 3 remaining games are against Porto & Benfica. UEFA Champions League. We were the better side against Man Utd and were comfortable despite the tight scorelines. We were however a little fortunate to escape Man City with a 0-0 draw. A home win in the 2nd leg and we're in the Final again. Taça de Portugal Placard. We led 4-2 after the 1st leg and I remember wondering at the time about conceding a 2nd goal when we were 4-1 up and then not scoring more ourselves. It really did come back to haunt us and I can't even blame it on me selecting a weakened side because the 2 goal-scorers here are the 2 best players at the club which suggests I went pretty strong. Either way, they scored A 94th minute leveller and then went on to win it in extra time. To suggest that I was unhappy with the loss would be a serious under-statement. Goal-scoring GK's. Jimbokav1971
May 2060. To retain the league is a big deal. To retain the Champions League is a huge deal. To retain both of them in the same season is enormous. Liga Bwin. It's been a long old season and we were really starting to pick up injures and feel fatigued as the season came to the close, but having already won the league gave us a little more freedom and although we conceded a goal in each game this month, we also won on each occasion and ended up winning the league by a 15 point margin, (which is ridiculous in Portugal and even more so playing a Youth Only save). We fell 1 short of the record of 123 goals scored in a season, and equaled the record of 95 pts in a season, but it was good for our GD to be +100 for the 1st time. I personally think that conceding 17 goals was too many, but we kept 23 clean sheets in 34 games so conceded 17 goals in the other 11 games. Rather than concentrating on 17 goals conceded, I would prefer to work on the 11 games conceded in. UEFA Champions League. I don't think I have ever retained the Champions league in FM before, (although might have done it with San Marino in FM14), but we've got a squad now with enough depth that I wonder if we might to be able to go on and do it again. We're a little weak in midfield after the sale of Worldclass midfielder (44c) Ogbu (ENG) (NGA) *, but that just gives the opportunity to someone else so I'm happy to continue with what we have. Getting the league won early and being able to rest players really does give us an advantage. Facilities. We're due to move into a new stadium next month, (which is about 18k bigger than our current stadium). The only problem here is that I expect to sell it out pretty quickly and the board to start extending it almost immediately. The new stadium will be Jimb O'Kav Park, not to be confused with the B team stadium which is the Jimb O'Kav Stadium, (which is also being extended). B Team Stadium. Goal-scoring GK's. I remember aiming for 20 goals in a season, (which we hadn't done before in this save), but in the end (50c) Ako (FRA) (GPE) 6'0" almost scored 30, and would have done if he hadn't missed 2 penalties. 28 goals in a season for a GK is a new record for me, (and a new record for anyone as far as I'm aware). Yeah, he's flying. In the recent EURO's he won Player of the Tournament, Young player of the Tournament & Golden Boot. This is what he has won just in 2060. The most pleasing thing here is the Runner Up in Liga Bwin assists last season. Considering he only played 19(11) of 34 games, that's pretty decent. Jimbokav1971
Aug 2060. Liga Bwin. We properly dodged a bullet here and I'm actually not quite sure how we remain unbeaten in the league. Against Sporting we were 1-0 down at HT and came back to draw. Against Varzim we were 2-0 down after an hour and came back to win and against Braga we were 2-0 down, had a player sent off after 25 mins and a 2nd player sent off after 66 mins and still came back to draw. Absolutely astonishing. I was literally laughing as we pulled off the most ridiculous of great escapes. I don't care how many points we have or who is ahead of us. All I know is that we're still unbeaten in the league, (with Benfica & Farense), but if we carry on like this we won't last much longer. Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira. What a beautiful trophy this is. A 94th minute winner snuck us past Benfica and we were probably worth the win in 90 mins actually. UEFA Super Cup. We battered Juve and deserved to win, but they scored more goals than us, (for the 2nd successive year), so they win the trophy and we go home with our tail between our legs. Transfers. I have realised that we needed another supporting striker, (to play on the right of centre up front), so when I saw that (42i) Edgar João (POR) (ANG) was available on a free I snapped him up. He scored 129 league goals for Gil Vicente over an 11 year period when they weren't very strong at all, and scored 16, 20, 18 & 10 league goals in the last 4 seasons. He won't be a regular starter, (in fact he will be my 3rd choice right-sided striker), but he;s already played and scored so already seems to be good business. Goal-scoring GK's. Finances. Jimbokav1971
Sep 2060. Liga Bwin. We've started scoring freely again. Now we just need to tighten up at the back again. Still, scoring 24 goals in all competitions this month and conceding just 2 is a decent starting point. Benfica & Farense are both still unbeaten, (with us), and they have conceded 4 goals and 5 goals respectively in 8 games. UEFA Champions League. The Reserves are doing really well in Europe, but Valencia should be a tougher test. Allianz League Cup. I'm not sure we've ever been drawn in a Group with SAD Franchise before. This could be fun! Jimbokav1971
Oct 2060. Liga Bwin. I saved and stormed off in a huff after losing the Benfica game. We battered them but missed a penalty and the goal that won it for them...... let's just say I was not a happy chappy. Our unbeaten run is over and theirs continues. I think that's the angriest I have been during this save. REALLY not happy. It's weird though because where as I thought we started the season really poorly, I actually think that we're playing really well now and the other results this month sort of back that up, (we should have beaten Valencia away but I'm happy with the draw because we never looked like conceding and it was still a good result). We're level on pts with Benfica, (but they have a game in hand), and the pressure will be on us now to keep winning and hope we can turn them over in the return fixture). On the flip side, it's the losing that makes the winning fun in this save. If it was easy then I would hate it. UEFA Champions League. I'm happy with this result away from home. We look great defensively at the moment, (ignoring the Benfica debacle). Taça de Portugal Placard. The Reserves scored 4, but it might have been 10. Facilities. Jimbokav1971
Goal 50. Nov 2060. We haven't had many products of our Academy make this list over the years, and the number who have made it while still with us is even smaller. (53a) Khwinana (ENG) (RSA) *** is our 1st choice right-sided (2nd) forward, which is currently a F9. He created the 2nd most assists in the league last season, (while being rotated for many games), but I think I can do better with him and am considering playing him as a CF(s). I thought I had just signed him to a 5+3 contract, but actually he's just on a 4 year contract so that must have been somewhere else. He's only earning £290k per month so there is certainly scope to encourage him to sign on for longer by paying him more. The #1 ranked player is a Portugese player who is at Bayern. He's maxed out at 190 CA and looks pretty interesting. He came through the intake at Porto and while he did well for them before leaving, he's really kicked on in Germany. [Edit] #33. There is also a 33 year old GK who came through the Academy at Braga and played for them for years until moving to Inter for £88M a couple of years ago. #47. And lastly there is a 30 year old GK who came through the intake at Varzim before moving to Porto for £12M and then onto Arsenal, (where he has been 1st choice GK for 9 years now), for £71M. Jimbokav1971
Nov 2060. Liga Bwin. After the loss to Benfica our form has been knocked a little but we're trying to work our way through it without dropping any more points. A red card at 0-0 in the SAD Franchise Derby cranked the pressure up, but the boys came good in the end despite being a man down. The really good news is that Benfica somehow lost to Gil Vicente, (hugely against the run of play imo), but that's the way it goes sometimes and it will be interesting to see how they respond in the 1st few games next month. UEFA Champions League. The draw against Red Bull was frustrating, but we were away and still getting our mojo back after the Benfica defeat. Jimbokav1971
Dec 2060. Liga Bwin. That's a pretty decent month in the league. We're top but only because Benfica have a game in hand. Jimbokav1971
Jan 2061. It's not THE double, but it is a double. Liga Bwin. Although we conceded a couple of goals this month, we did better than Benfica who drew with 2nd bottom Portimonense and we've now got the advantage again. Assuming we both keep winning, we only need a draw with them in March to secure the title, (but experience tells me that we will both drop points). We had 6 players away on International duty at the AFCON for the whole month and because 2 of them were centre-backs it left us a little stretched in that Dept, especially when the Allianz League Cup Final was played 3 days after the Semi. Taça de Portugal Placard. A comfortable win. Allianz League Cup. We've gone from thinking we would never win this trophy again to winning it 3 times on the bounce. Goal-scoring GK's. We still have 16 games to play and (50c) Ako (FRA) (GPE) 6'0" has already scored 17 goals this season. He's scoring at a rate of a goal every 2.2 games this season, (even with him failing 5 times from the spot), so with that in mind he's due to score 7 more goals this season which should take him to 24 goals. Sonic Youth
Those awards won by your players are amazing. All worthy winners Your form is still great (we won’t talk about that Benfica loss), table topping, cup winning, European progressing, a month with all clean sheets The youth intake preview looks intriguing. I guess that list of ex-players who are now backroom staff are not good enough to displace/add to your team. There is a few on that list too.

Yeah, the awards were great, but the Ballon d'Or was the big one. In any Youth Only save I think the pinnacle of achievement is having a player win the Ballon d'Or, (or possibly retain it). I'm not positive but I don't think I have ever done it before. The only awards that might possibly not be deserved are the GK awards because Ako's average rating is enormously skewed by all the goals. Form was brilliant before Benfica and since then has been.... ok We recently drew with Porto, (about to do that update), and then got smashed 6-4 away by Real Sociedad, (remember me complaining we kept dodging them?) The Youth Intake means absolutely nothing I have decided. Could be amazing. Could be garbage. There are loads of ex players but the most important thing for me is personality and too many of them fall at the 1st hurdle. I don't care how good they are, if they haven't got a decent personality then they don't get signed.
Jimbokav1971
Feb 2061. Liga Bwin. Drawing to Porto isn't a disaster because we play Benfica this month and a win there sorts everything out, but as it stands we're behind them again on a head to head basis. Sporting, Braga & Porto are absolutely miles off the pace. UEFA Champions League. Goal-scoring GK's. Finances. Our bank balance has taken a hit this month because I have signed 4 of our best players to long-term contracts and I have to basically throw cash at them to make it happen.
Sonic Youth
Real Sociedad in Europe 4-6? Only need to win 2-0 at home now I like how you’ve got a 20 goal a season striker-keeper Got a lot to play for next month!

It's certainly doable but I think it highlights what I was saying before about Real Sociedad. Interesting that 6 of the 8 Quarter-Finalists are in playable leagues and the other 2 are Bayern & Juve. 2 years in a row is no fluke. Haven't thought of the term #StrikerKeeper before. I prefer #GoalScoringKeeper and #WideSweeperKeeper Yep, March is a big month and that's just the Youth Intake!
Jimbokav1971
Youth Intake day. Mar 2061. What we were expecting. 1x GK, 1x FB, 1x SC. What have we got? 1x AMR, 2x DL, 1x AML. Squad by PA. I'm not really sure what to make of the intake at this stage. We only have 1x Low Det + (Unamb) player so I'm not offering a contract to (61k). There are some nice Nationalities. I don't like the personalities, although there are 3x Amb, 1x F.Amb, 1x F.Pro & 1x F.Det. We only have 1 Low (Det) player and I'm hopeful (61b) & (61d) will pop to double-figures (Det) soon. Squad by Actual PA. Well this is better than expected. I'm happy that I chose not to offer a contract to (61k). I wish that I hadn't offered a contract to (61p) We've got 4x players at 130+ PA. We've got 3 more players at 120+ PA. The top 5 players, (by actual PA) have decent starting CA. Players ranked 6, 7 & 8, (by actual PA), have low starting CA, (50, 56 & 47), so it will be harder for them to reach their PA. (61c) Novak (PER) (CRO) looks decent, but I'm not sure he looks like a typical winger, although he certainly isn't a DL or SC. (61h) Fradinho (POR) looks a decent striker, although he will be a "lefty" playing on the right. (61a) Mateus (BRA) (POR) I really like the look of, (as a right-sided second striker). (61j) Monteiro (POR) 6'0" looks decent, although my plan is to end the save once Ako retires so I'm not sure we need another GK. (61b) Müller (GER) 6'2" DC is a left back, but he's 6'2" at 15, slow and can jump so I see him more as a centre-half than a left back. Now we have the 3 players with decent PA but who have low starting CA. (61i) Lopes (POR) looks awful physically and it will take some work to improve him. (61g) Dumange (POR) (SUI) looks ok mentally and reasonable physically, but poor technically. Lots of work needed. (61l) Soares (CPV) (POR) looks decent technically & physically, but very poor mentally. He looks decent though.

He must have a better agent who called some people to have him on the list Figure FM is spot on by not selecting the actual best players in this types of lists. I remember there was a list one year (2016?17?) which featured the likes of T. Fosu-Mensah, T. Davies, R. Oxford and B. Woodburn with higher ratings that T.Alexander-Arnold.

Jimbokav1971
Mar 2061. Liga Bwin. What an absolute HUGE result against Benfica and it was all instigated by a GK goal from (50c) Ako (FRA) (GPE) 6'0". After we scored we were just able to counter them to death and the more they pushed, the more we punished them. It was a proper thing of beauty. We're 3 points ahead of them now, but possibly more importantly we're ahead of them on a head to head basis if they manage to draw level, (so we're effectively 4 pts ahead). OMG I've just noticed SAD Franchise up there in the European spots. UEFA Champions League. Trailing 6-4 from the 1st leg I thought we had a decent chance to over-turn the deficit with a lower scoring 2 goal win, but we even exceeded that. We're into the Quarters and we will face Juve. Taça de Portugal Placard. An away 0-0 is a good result when you consider that a 1-0 home win will send us through to the Final. Goal-scoring GK's. Jimbokav1971
Apr 2061. Liga Bwin. I don't know what to say about the Guimaraes game. It was a weakened squad but we were awful and deserved to lose. I can't believe that after besting Benfica we have possibly blown it by choking against someone rubbish, (well not rubbish but not 1 of the big clubs). We're still top of the table, but now only by virtue of our head to head record against Benfica. UEFA Champions League. I was delighted to squeeze past Juve, and we have a 2 goal lead against Porto in the Semi. Taça de Portugal Placard. A really good win sees us through to the Final. Goal-scoring GK's.
