DazRTaylor
End of Season Review Season 2022/23 FC United of Manchester Season Summary It was an exceptional season, where we dominated the league and had good cup runs in both the F. A. Cup and F. A. Trophy. Season Details League Table - We were at the top for the vast majority of the campaign and ended up winning the league and promotion to the fifth tier by a large margin, namely twenty six points. League Fixtures 1 & 2 - We went off like a train and never looked back, churing out victory after victory. F. A. Cup - An excellent cup where that was ended away to giants Manchester City in the third round. F. A. Trophy - We were largely untroubled until we lost in the semi final to Notts County, who play in the league above, over two legs. They needed extra time to knock us out, though. Friendlies - It was a tough pre season campaign as we played quite a few clubs from higher up in the pyramid. Squad - I think our squad is good enough to attain back to back promotions. Squad Dynamics - As you would expect, this is rather good. Transfers In 1, 2, & 3 - The board allowed me to spend a considerable sum of money, thanks to our cup run. That said, the majority of arrivals were still free transfers. Transfers Out - A whole host of players departed on free transfers. Youth Candidates - Polish left wing back Jacek Wieliczko YP23A1 is the brightest prospect out of a decent intake. Finances - We made a large profit this year, almost exclusively down t the gate receipts from the Manchester City cup match. Key Players Callum Hulme - The man is a machine. With 25 goals and 31 assists from 50 appearances, all from midfield, he dominated most games. Rumarn Burrell - Our main striker was a revelation, scoring 40 goals in 49 appearances. Liam Hogan - The veteran central defender added some much needed experience to the back line. Eli Campbell - The teenage defender became the club record signing when joining from King's Lynn Town for a transfer fee of £70,000 in January. Elijah Dixon-Bonner - Comfortable anywhere in midfield, he flattered to deceive. He was either outstanding or underwhelming. Next Season Another promotion. I don't think this is unrealistic. lc_xanthia
Premier League Premier league winners!! It was a fantastic season. I have world class players in every position and nearly won the champions league as well. I will settle for the league and the EFL Cup. Just need to win the Champions league now to complete the challenge 😜. EFL CUP Beat Liverpool 3-2 in extra time to win my first EFL cup. Champions League Lost to Atletico Madrid again after losing to them in the semi last season. They have slightly better players than me in every position. Gave them a good game though. DazRTaylor
End of Season Review Season 2023/24 FC United of Manchester Season Summary We were once again sensational in the league, winning the title and promotion to the Football League, though we were not as good in the cups. Season Details League Table - We dominated the league from start to finish and secured the league title with four games remaining. League Fixtures 1 & 2 - We just kept winning, it really is as simple as that. F. A. Cup - We were not as good as last year as we crashed out in the first round, convincingly beaten at home by League Two promotion chasers Oxford United. F. A. Trophy - Promotion rivals Wrexham narrowly beat us in Wales by one goal to nil as our adventure came to end in the fifth round. Friendlies - We had a much better time of it this year in pre season as we only lost twice and won some matches against much bigger clubs. Squad - We have so much quality and I only intend to add to it. Squad Dynamics - After such a good season, this is as good as you would expect. Transfers In 1 & 2 - Whilst I hardly spent any money this year, I did bring in a plethora of new signings, predominently on free transfers. Transfers Out 1, 2 & 3 - A lot of departures, mainly on loan, though we did raise over £100,000 in player sales. Youth Candidates - Attacking midfielder Mario Ecclestone YP24D10 is the best prospect out of a mediocre intake. Finances - We lost over half a million pounds this season though we remain in the black. Key Players Jacob Bedeau - Arguably the best signing of the season, the defender was incredible. Harry Chapman - The winger played even better than last season. Ethan Galbraith - The best player at the club, how we managed to sign him I will never know. Grant Hall - The veteran central defender added some much needed experience to the back line. Luke Thomas - Another new signing who excelled, the winger had a terrific season. Next Season Can we attain a third promotion in a row? DazRTaylor
End of Season Review Season 2024/25 FC United of Manchester Season Summary It was another amazing season, winning the league title to secure a third successive promotion. We also performed well in the cups, with the icing on the cake lifting the Papa John's Trophy. Season Details League Table - We once again dominated the league campaign and never looked like losing top spot. League Fixtures 1 & 2 -Churning out win after win became a habit. F. A. Cup - We came so close to upsetting Chelsea in the third round, drawing two two at Stamford Bridge, before losing convincingly at home in the replay. Carabao Cup - We played very well in getting to the fourth round before being outclassed at Villa Park by top flight outfit Aston Villa. Papa John's Trophy - After scrapping through by finishing second in our group, we progressed to the final and beat Manchester United Under 23's after extra time, to lift our first domestic cup. Friendlies - We had a great pre season campaign, winning eight of our ten matches, losing just the once. Squad - We have sucg a good squad, we are ready for the next level. Squad Dynamics - It is still rather lovely. Transfers In 1 & 2 - I spent over £500,000 as I brought in two exceptional youngsters, together with usual free transfers and loans. Transfers Out 1, 2 & 3 - A club record sale of £1m enabled me to spend the money listed above. Youth Candidates - I was promised a fabulous intake and I am therefore extremely disappointed with what we got. Attacking midfielder Ian Biddle YP25E17 is supposedly the pick of the bunch but I just don't see it. Finances - We lost over half a million pounds this year and we are in the red as a result. I fear some player sales will be required to balance the books. Key Players Jacob Bedeau - The defender was a rock once more. Luke Thomas - Comfortable on either wing, he was asrguably our best player, scoring 12 goals and an incredible 27 assists in 41 appearances. Connor Taylor - Signed on a free transfer from Stoke City, he was easily our best defender. Connor Pani - Now aged twenty one, the central midfielder continues to improve. He has been coveted by some bigger clubs already. Jack Crofts - Teenage Welsh winger signed for £250,000 from Wrexham, he improved immeasurably this year and is now an automatic selection. Next Season I want to challenge again and I think we are good enough to do so. DazRTaylor
End of Season Review Season 2025/26 FC United of Manchester Season Summary Another fantastic campaign with another league title, promoiton which was all topped off by our best ever F. A. Cup run. Season Details League Table - We were top early on and never looked back as the competition couldn't live with us. League Fixtures 1 & 2 - We had quite a few win streaks and these proved to be invaluable as we romped to yet another league title and promotion. F. A. Cup - Our best cup run to date as we knocked out Everton. Liverpool proved to be a step too far as we lost at a sold out Anfield at the quarter final stage. Carabao Cup - Premier League Sheffield United proved to be too strong as we were beaten rather easily at Bramall Lane in the second round. Papa John's Trophy - We again finished runners up in our group, qualifying for the knockout stages. There was to be no repeat of last year's success though as we were hammered at home byu Ipswich Town at the quarter final stage. Friendlies - We only lost one game in what was a decent pre season campaign. Squad - Our squad is good enough for a mid table finish so I hope to 9improve it still further to get into the playoffs. Squad Dynamics - It is lovely. Still. Transfers In 1, 2 & 3 - I spent over £1m improving the squad together with a lot of free transfers and loans. The transfer record was also broken. Transfers Out 1, 2 & 3 - We also broek our transfer sale record as over £11m was raised in player sales. Youth Candidates - It was another disappointing intake though Nigerian striker Lawrence Akanni YP26A23 looks a good prospect. Finances - Thanks to the player sales listed above, we made a large profit this year and we have a very healthy bank balance as a result. Key Players Connor Pani - The central midfielder raised his game to levels I didn't know he was capable of. Tommy Doyle - Signed on a free transfer from Manchester City, he is usually deployed in central midfield and had a sensational first season with the club. Sam Greenwood - Another free transfer acquisition, this time from Leeds United, he is comfortable on either wing or up front and was very reliable wherever he played. Toby Savin - Signed for a bargain £25,000 from Middlesbrough on transfer deadline day in February, the goalkeeper quickly became out new number one. David David - So good they named him twice, the teenage French central defender had a great first few months at the club. Next Season I don't think a playoff spot is beyond us so that is the goal. DazRTaylor
End of Season Review Season 2026/27 FC United of Manchester Season Summary It was another exceptional league campaign as we secured yet another promotion though early exits in both cups was disappointing. Season Details League Table - Once we hit the top two, we never looked back. League Fixtures 1 & 2 - After an average start, we settled down and went on long unbeaten runs. F. A. Cup - Unfortunately, we went out at the first time of askin, in the third round as we lost convincingly away to top flight giants Newcastle United. Carabao Cup - A penalty shoot out defeat at home by fellow Championship side Hull City in the first round was very disappointing. Friendlies - A tough set of pre season games tested us to our limit as we lost three games. Squad - We need a lof of additions to be able to compete in the Premier League. Squad Dynamics - It is still marvellous. Transfers In 1 & 2 - I broke the clubs transfer record three times and I spent serious money for the first time. Transfers Out 1, 2 & 3 - A huge amount of outgoing loans, together with the sale of some fringe players dominates our departures. Youth Candidates - It was our strongest intake to date, with Welsh central midfielder Tomas Mann YP27A34 looking like an exceptional talent. Finances - We lost quite a lot of money this year though the Premier League riches are about to flow in. Key Players Tommy Doyle - The central midfielder excelled once more. Sam Greenwood - I didn't think he was capable of playing at Championship level. Needless to say, I was very wrong! David David - Our young central defender played very well whenever he was called upon. Luigi Carini - A free transfer acquisition after his release by Bologna in his homeland, the Italian defender was exceptional. Gabriel - The Brazilian centre back continues to get better and better. DazRTaylor
End of Season Review Season 2027/28 FC United of Manchester Season Summary It was a very long and very hard season. We went down and exited both cups early on to complete a dreadful campaign. Season Details League Table - We were always struggling and never really got going. The inevitable relegation was confirmed with a game to go. League Fixtures 1 & 2 - We found it really difficult to win games. So many long winless runs. The fact we ended the season unbeaten in five only adds to the frustration. F. A. Cup - For the second year in succession, we went out at the third round stage, losing to Manchester United at Old Trafford in a replay. Carabao Cup - A dreadful performance away to Championship side Middlesbrough saw us crash out in the second round. Friendlies - We won all of our pre season games, bar one, which gave me a false sense of security for the season ahead. Squad - Our squad is good enough to bounce back at the first attempt. Squad Dynamics - The fact this is as good as it is after such a hard season I find pretty remarkable. Transfers In 1 & 2 - I broke our transfer record once more as I invested heavily in the squad. Transfers Out 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5 - So many departures, mainly fringe players and youngsters on loan, though we did make a club record transfer sale. Youth Candidates - James Campbell YP28A44 is the best prospect out of a fairly ordinary intake. Finances - We made a handsome profit, thanks to the Premier league monies. Key Players Luigi Carini - The Italian defender was one of the few bright spots this year as he raised his game. Toby Savin - The busiest player in our squad, our goalkeeper was decent enough though he faced an avalanche of shots throughout the season. Jarrad Branthwaite - A free transfer signing from Everton, the versatile defender was okay, though others failed to match his performances. Giannis Papadopoulos - The single biggest disappointment this season. I had high hopes for the left back but he struggled immensely. Martin Palumbo - Another free transfer acquisition, the Norwegian international central midfielder flattered to deceive. Next Season Promotion. We need to bounce back quickly. 6499red
Truro City FC - 2022/23 Surpassing all expectations in the league, we managed to get promoted. Beginning of season, we were expected to finish 14th, but it improved to 6th as we strengthened. . Desite these low expectaions, we were actually in 1st place for the majority of the season - losing 1st place to some shaky end of season form, but managing to win the playoffs, to avert tragedy. As mentioned, I strengthened an already strong squad, managing to keep all of our top players. Some of these players (Harvey and Dean) were even rated good enough for the National League as soon as the game began. There was a reasonable turnover, although the players that played the most games were mostly already here or signed very early. I did have some difficulty in recruitment as players are unwilling to locate large distances for semi-pro football, meaning most of my players are either from south-west England or south Wales (Truro being rather isolated both geographically and as the best Cornish team) Spoiler Season Divison Place PTS G.D. 6499red
Truro City FC 2023/24 It is, quite frankly, a miracle that we stayed up. Having won 5 games at the beginning of the season, we then were absolutely abysmal from then until the end of the season - only surviving by the skin of our teeth. Going into the last day, we were equal on points. We had Dag & Red away, while Scunthorpe had the dead and buried Darlington (also away). We tried to attack, but only managed to score 1 while conceding 3. Therefore, our survival was only secured by Darlington's surprise victory vs Scunthorpe ! Over the season, I first used a 5-2-1-2 vertical tiki-taka which was so sucessful last season, but we became unable to penetrate the better teams so I also used wing-play systems more towards the end of the season. one of the main tasks for the off-season would be evolving the tactics for the new season alongside recruiting the players for those systems. Of note; - Kouakou is one of our own youth products (who has scored for France U18s) , and to me it feels like he has had more of an impact that the numbers suggest. He is however, slow and not progressing very much at the moment. - Will Dean (our star player from last year) left for Grimsby for £16.25k, which was a big loss. He was actually on loan at Darlington, and in the team that saved us from relegation vs Scunthorpe - so there is at least some value to that - I have actually spent money on players (i didnt want to) but necessity made me as the selection of players that have some interest in joining at this stage (let alone are good enough to impact) is vanishingly small - I wish I never let Jayden Ali go (was non-contract, should have offered him one) was a very dependable backup midfielder or wing-back who always put in a shift - Most loanees were recalled because I did'nt play them enough - but Rhys shirley did have some decent games up top with or instead of Akheem Rose Spoiler Season Divison Place PTS G.D. 6499red
Truro City FC 2024/25 We survived by the skin of our teeth once again - by goal difference. Once again, we lost on the final day and needed our opponent to lose to an already relegated team (Dulwich Hamlet this time, who came up with us). To be honest, we were even luckier than last year, managing to survive with 7 points less than previously and a goal difference double as bad !!! We will not survive next season unless I can strengthen considerably - which looks unlikely, given the state of my scouting. The squad is relatively similar to last season - with mainly loans coming in. Even our best players at 4* are still only leading VNS/VNN players - and we are struggling to recruit, due to; 1. Isolation / Distance to most of the UK 2. Reputation. We are 4th lowest of the VNL (2 of which got relegated), and below 11 VNS/VNN teams. 3. Finances. We are still Semi-pro, and our wage spend of £352K p/a is 3rd lowest, and is set to decrease as i am currently £1600 p/w over budget (after renewing expriring players on reduced contracts - many around 25-40%!) This is due to the dire financial situation the club finds itself in Even I could only get a new contract 1 month before expiry - after applying for other jobs! 6499red
Truro City 2025 Board Update So my super-stingy chairman is looking to step down ... lets see what this brings ... So if one group takes over, I lose my job - also, it seems if i don't perform another miracle this season and keep the club up again, I could well also be out of a job in any case . 6499red
Not the guy that comitted to replacing me, but this still came through ... will I still be at the club come the beginning of the season? G_D_K
Season 19th, as Radcliffe, I came this close..... My first ECL final of the save, after winning the EPL for the first time earlier in the month of my 19th season in charge of Radclffe. Had some absolutely outstanding games all season long, from an 8-5 aggregate 1st KO round win over Leipzig (up 5-1 in the away match, lost home match 4-3 where the scoring just went back and forth and back and forth --- including 3 goals in 4 minutes late in the game), to a 2KO round grudge rematch vs Atletico Madrid (who knocked me out of the ECL 1KO round the season prior). Thought I had a real chance to complete the challenge for only the 2nd time ever (completed in FM21 the night before FM22 went full release --- in 20 seasons --- after winning both the EPL and the ECL in the same season. Coincidently, I won the ECL vs..... Real Madrid!

We've now recovered to our natural position of 20th in the National League, above 21st (relegation) on goal difference. I must admit, it is starting to feel like a bit of a dead end / boring given that this is the 3rd season in a row with no change, and a board that seemingly has absolutely zero ambition, yet will very likely sack me if I get relegated ... anyway. It has taken me about 2 weeks to post this because I am actually really disappointed. I was really enjoying the challenge, but now I have achieved it I can't bring myself to even turn the game on. Premiership 2nd title in a row. Although Man City and Man Utd came close, it was never really in doubt. Uefa Champions League Probably the next best team in the world, Atletico Madrid was once again my opponent in the final. This time though the victory was mine. The FIFA Club World Cup, both domestic cups and the Community Shield made up the other successes. What a season, my best ever on this version of the game. I only lost 6 games in all competitions. FM23 has just been announced so I may consider doing this challenge again on the new game.

DazRTaylor
End of Season Review Season 2028/29 FC United of Manchester Season Summary A great season as we bounced back from the disappointment of relegation at the first time of asking. A good F. A. Cup run was an added bonus. Season Details League Table - We dominated the league campaign virtually from the start. League Fixtures 1 & 2 - We won the vast majority of our league games as we were the best side in the division by some distance. F. A. Cup - We enjoyed a decent cup run before top flight Leeds United beat us at Elland Road at the quarter final stage. Carabao Cup - It was Leeds again, who ended our dreams of a decent run in the League Cup by beating us, again, at Elland Road, this time in the third round. Friendlies - With an unbeaten pre season campaign, we prepared for the season in the best possible way. Squad - I feel we are more than good enough to survive in the Premier League as our squad has improved in quality. Squad Dynamics - As good as you would expect. Transfers In 1 & 2 - I spent over £50 million, including breaking our transfer record, replacing the departing players and I must say, I feel they are just as good, if not better, than those they replaced. Transfers Out 1, 2, 3 & 4 - £136 million was raised in player sales as large earners, together with relegation release clauses being met, meant a few players moved on to pastures new. We broke our tansfer sale record three times. Youth Candidates - Striker Lloyd Hall YP29D56 is the brightest prospect of a fairly disappointing intake. Finances - The Parachute payments, coupled with my reluctance to spend the entire transfer budget, meant we made a big profit and have a very large bank account. Key Players Jarrad Branthwaite - It was another wonderful season from the defender. Giannis Papadopoulos - The left back had a much better season. Nico Serrano - A club record purchase, the left winger hit the ground running since joining in January. Robin Lammens - Still only a teenager, the Belgian is an automatic selection as our midfield anchor. Gabriel - Now in his fourth season at the club, the Brazilian Under 20 international defender is reliable and is equally at home at either right back or central defence. Next Season As long as we can survive this time, everything else is secondary. superdad
Vanarama South We started off relatively strong, floating in and around the play-off places for 10-15 matches. Then the team became fully adjusted to my 4-4-2 tactic, and we shot up to 2nd. Ebbsfleet were in great form, so overtaking them took quite some time. I didn't think we'd ever go above them at one point, with their results matching ours. When we finally overtook them, we kept a tight hold on the top spot and won the league with 4 matches to spare. I hope Ebbsfleet are promoted with us, as they earned it. FA Cup We reached the first round proper, even beating our league rivals Ebbsfleet along the way. Charlton eventually knocked us out with a very lucky win. Even their manager said they were lucky to beat us. FA Trophy We exceeded expectations in the FA Trophy as well, reaching the 4th round. I'll be looking to add the FA Trophy to our silverware next season. Transfers I brought in quite a few players, most of which slotted straight into the first team. Only two players were released. Best Eleven Yusuff was easily our best player of the season, scoring 25 goals in 45 matches. Heard was fantastic in midfield, setting up 11 goals and scoring 8 himself. Baptiste came into the club and went straight into the number 1 jersey. He notched up an impressive 24 clean sheets in 46 league matches, and 27 clean sheets in total across all competitions. Aims for next season The main aim is to avoid relegation straight back down. I'll have to strengthen a few positions to achieve this. I'm also looking to reach at least the 2nd round in the FA Cup, but that will rely a lot on the draws. The dream is to win the FA Trophy. If I can at least reach the semi-finals of the FA Trophy and avoid relegation, I'll be very happy. Quote Season Champions League Europa League Europa Conference League League Position F.A. superdad
I just noticed that Woking got to the semi final of the FA Cup in my save! They even beat Premier League side Leeds along the way, away from home as well. I bet they made a fair amount of money from that. superdad
It ended 3-1 to Tottenham, but my team gave them a run for their money. I enjoyed that match.
superdad
Vanarama National Against all odds, we managed to win the league and gain back-to-back promotions! We were in the play-off spots for the majority of the season, occasionally rising to the top of the table before Notts County would knock us back down again. It went right down to the wire, with the last match of the season deciding whether we would be champions or have to battle through the play-offs. Thankfully, we won our last match and Notts County lost. FA Cup We had a really good run in the FA Cup, reaching the fourth round and being rewarded with a money spinning away game against Tottenham. We actually took the lead against them, but they were the better side by far and ultimately ended our dream run. FA Trophy I really didn't expect to win the FA Trophy, but we pulled it off. We beat Notts County in the final, which was very satisfying. Transfers We actually signed more players than the screenshot shows, but a few of them we're before the year changed in the game. Only got rid of a few, all because they became unhappy for various stupid reasons. Tyrone O'Neill is my first signing for next season, a great looking striker with lots of room for improvement. Can't wait to see how he fairs in League Two. Best Eleven So many great performances, it's hard to point out any in particular. Shae Hutchinson's 22 goals were a highlight. Matthew Hall did an amazing job in goal as well. Unfortunately, Yusuff struggled with the step up and if Matt Morris hadn't left the club, he'd have shown up in the best eleven over Yusuff. I have a feeling this might be Yusuff's last season for the club, as League Two is going to be far too much for him to handle. Finances The various cup runs raised our finances significantly, and have seen the balance go well over £1mil for the first time since I took over. Aims for next season I have a feeling we'll be in a relegation battle next season, so staying in League Two in the main priority. If I can couple that with another great FA Cup run, I'll be happy. I'll be scouring the transfer market during the off-season, for players to strengthen the squad. I'm going to need some quality players just keep us up. G_D_K
2nd year running to make the ECL finals. Won the league outright last season, lost to Real Madrid on a penalty shootout after 120 minutes of 0-0 football. Top of league again this year (up 1 point over chelsea with 3 matches to play + a match in hand). Easier ECL final as we face 6th place Liverpool. If successful, will complete challenge in my 20th season in charge --- the same as the FM21 version, when I won the league and beat RM in the 20th season on the night before full release of FM22. Likely finish the league tonight and stream the ECL final tomorrow, hoping for a better result this year!

For my first 3 EPL seasons I was still starting players that had a CA of L1 (albeit w/ EPL potential) --- and that was after 4 seasons in the Championship. Your rep just doesn't rise enough (nor your wage allowance) in order to attract the better players.
